  3. I can understand Photoshop, but I'm not that good in the creative department. PS Forums is a good place to visit!
  4. Love the Maidens... Would love them even more if they came to Utah!!!! Anyone read the concerting/stage/electric information (I think it was on one of albums I have, don't quite remember which one it was) about how much power and what it took to setup the stage in the "good old days"?
  5. aefibird, you took the words out of my mouth! Although, I'm thinking with time, Spiderman could create a mix of something to defeat the hulk.
  6. I use the Canon i860, but I also don't mind paying $150 for a printer. It prints fast pages of text in addition to printing nice color photos.
  7. I'm a big fan of that particular weapon, will have to check out the vids tonight!
  8. Sometimes ESPN will play the K1 fights and the top competitors from martial arts tournament that I try to watch as well.
  9. I'd recommend a Heavyweight if you are just starting out.. it will survive better with grappling moves and will ease the impact of the Kenpo strikes. After "numbing" my senses, I moved to a middleweight gi and it has survived pretty well.
  10. Rotton, what kind do you make? Rope/Chain, heavy. light... just curious what are the easiest kind to make...
  11. I still want blackbelt tv in my area. It would be a great channel to have playing in the workout room at the dojo.
  12. I bet it's great when your wife cuts watermelons on the stomaches of family members @ family reunions!
  13. A good place to open one is where a lot of human "traffic" is going to be flowing. One of our dojos is located adjacent to a mall, so people who want to know more about the arts will more likely stop in when passing as opposed to getting off the couch to go check one out. We are open from 9 am to 9 pm Mon-Fri and 9-2 on Saturday. It also helps if you can start a Cardio type program to bring in more customers, other than martial artists, to help spread the word.
  14. If you happen to keep it for many years and are accident prone, maybe you can be satisfied with a Red Gi? Glad to hear you were able to get it clean. Keep the blood on your belt to show your hard word and dedication to your art.
  15. I picked up that book after posting to a sword forum and read through it the night it arrived! A "must read" for people interested in swords. I was also taught the old craftsmen named each of the folds they made... I'm not sure if it's like counting them or an actual name.
  16. Luckily enough, we have someone that works next to us who does embroidery and takes care of our black belts for us
  17. Gene LeBell.. the man in the pink gi I know this is kind of way off topic, but check out IMBD's bio on the movies he has been invovled in. http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0494061/
  18. The problem with attacking relative's bears is their wrath of revenge when they find out what you did to their stuffed animal... It looks like a dog is better than a .454! http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_926645.html?menu=
  19. Our Shihan is certified under: UFAF, IKA, USAKF, USJJF, USMAF, and USKA. A couple of open tournaments that we participate in are: NASKA - NBL - USKA - USAKF
  20. Record it on tape and lip sync it to him in person?
  21. Snap kick them to the male reproductive organ If you have enough time, try to step out of the way while you are blocking. If you miss the block, your head won't be there to get hit. Fastest thing is to block w/ hand. Find a partner and try running through some drills, same attack, and see what one works best. You'll then see why some work and some do not.
  22. We should all learn without using words I wish that we could all use universal translators and nothing would be mistranslated. If you dive deeper into language, it will also make you dizzy when you start investigating different dialects also.
  23. Have you checked with a physician to see if the pain you are feeling can be helped? I'd suggest slow exercises with stretching and massaging of the feet.
  24. The "associations" that we are a member of is 1 yearly fee for the whole school to be a member of, which is paid by the owner. Any other associations that we personally qualify for is optional only if you want to join them. Any fees, like you are talking about, should be included in the monthly dues. We also charge for belt testing, which covers the costs of the belts, test, certificates, etc.
  25. I like doing the squat jumps, in addition to calf raises... just stand feed together and raise slowly up and down to your tippy-toes a few hundred times...
