  1. ...You know what i was gonna say something but nevermind...that doesnt even deserve a response.......
  2. I think a blackbelt used to mean a lot more than it does now. i mean ive walked into dojos and watched people do their exercises and wonder to myself...how in the hell did that guy recieve a black belt? there are so many hacks out there today its distgusting. a blackbelt used to take a lot of hard work and determination to earn and not 9 out of every 10 people would pass. i mean i used to think that a blackbelt meant u were good of course now i know differently but i cant help but wonder and even assume that maybe there was a day where a blackbelt did mean something. no bruce lee was never a blackbelt in anything but so what? he revolutionized martial arts in so many ways and practically made it famous to the western world.i believe in some way we were all influenced by what bruce lee did and even today what he stood for. im sure somewhere out there during the course of history there was someone who couldve beaten him but u know what? that person didnt do * for martial arts compared to what bruce did which is why i believe him to be the best ever. anywho thats just my little rant u can take it as you will.
  3. Yeah gotta agree with battousai on this one, with exception realistic fight scenes just arent as entertaining. its more fun when they do stuff u know isnt possible.
  4. WW is right it definately wasnt necessary that he be killed realistically speaking(i thought it was funny too how there was a field full of japanese people(just the samurai) and all of them were dead, except for the white man hahaha figures)but beyond even that i just think it wouldve been as good for the story line if algren died.
  5. Sayoc Kali all the way. haha thats just my biased opinion because it is arguably my favorite and i would kill to have a school like that near me. but they do teach you to fight unarmed. it just goes backwards. it goes into 3 different phases, stick and edged weapon fighting, then they show you how to apply it to unarmed combat. it is highly effective as they teach it to the Special forces of our military. i would seriously consider that one if the school is good. but just because i say that do not count the other ones out. if they are good schools consider them to because it sounds like the chinese one has a lot to offer in terms of art and combat and BJJ is just a good combative form altogether so look at te scools one by one.
  6. Katana. deadliest bladed weapon ever forged if not the deadliest weapon period(melee of course). u get hit once with it u go down u cant say that for a lot of other weapons unless its just done just right. bo is a great building block and has much practicality as well as versatility but it lacks the umph needed if u ask me.. a sword is much better for combat.
  7. Im sorry but spidey could not win...ever...wait no nevermind he could, maybe if he had half the Xmen backing him...then he could. and i swear to god put batman against someone without any real weaknesses and hes dowm in less than 30 seconds. batman could not do * to the hulk, seriously hes good for what hes got to wrok with but there is no way he couls take a lot of these heros. superman is weak to kryptonite. give my little sister some of that and she could take him, honestly u are way overrating batman here.
  8. Pretty much any Bruce Lee movie will give you smoething realistic...i mean for choreographed fights they are as realistic as they come.
  9. actuall i believe thats what it was originally intended for...the old shinobi used a sai to trap and wear down swords. great tool if u ask me.
  10. Yeah there are few who could oppose the hulk, very few.
  11. Yes there is, like i said earlier its called sayoc kali. its what they teach the special forces. it is totally edged weapon fighting like the knife.
  12. well yeah obviously..kali is a very complete system because there is so much incorporated into it but they are just known for their weapons usage(in paricaulr knife and sticks) above anything else. that aspect is what makes it so militaristic.
  13. which style of karate are we talkin here...kyokushin? issyn ryu(or however it is spelled)? shotokan?depends which style u mean because they differ greatly.
  14. Phillipino escrima/arnis whatever you wanna call it. sayoc kali in particualar. i have not come acroose one style in the entirte world that can match its knife fighting.
  15. i cant get the hang of the staff...im still stickin with the sword.
  16. ive actually seen footage of him doing his training. when u see him in the action fighting whoever, seldom does he use a double its like at least 90% him. the brothers who directed this movie wanted these actors to be abel to do their own martial and a lot of their own stunts.
  17. yeah see they are really dexterous..u dont have to have a blackbelt in harcore combatative arts to be able to fight. the point is that they are in awesome shape and know martial arts. i still hold strong that it is the person and not the art they study that is the primary importance. they know how to punch and kick and all that stuff.im not arguing that they have a bunch of fighting experience. but that by no means says that they cant fight.
  18. it doesnt matter...it was a movie its all cinematics, its not supposed to be practical its supposed to be entertaining and killing him off wouldve been a big mistake, besides they were all honoring the samurai and in that scenario(whethter it would reallly happen or not) he would not have been killed..not if omurra was the only one who wanted him dead.
  19. good foundation but i definately wouldnt say it is the best..i like the chinese blade (dao or tai chi etc) because u can throw more movements like footwork into ur form instead of focusing solely on the weapon. plus u can do all sortts of pretty stuff with it.
  20. I disagree completely. they should not have killed off tom..im so tired of this cliche main character always dying.. finally a movie like this was actually creative and the main characer didnt die..fancy that im glad this movie wasnt * and the main character die in a glorious batle and be all heroic. how ridiculous it is so played out it makes me sick and i for one am infinately glad that they did not kill him.
  21. YES...i am glad someone else finally realizes it...Donnie Yen is awesome...at martial arts and fight choreography. bruce is of course amazing but he one of the most philosophical MAists ever and i lovee him most as a fighter...no cameras, no *, just raw action.
  22. ok dude, if batman did not have kryptonite there is now way he could ever defeat superman...i donttttt even like superman cuz he is too powerful..he would completely destroy anyone.and besides..apart from mary jane what weaknesses does spidey have?none...if it werent for tha kryptonite thing no one would be able to beat superman..i dont know if my favorite could win against him. oh yeah...spiderman all the way.
  23. aww...come on the matrix stuff is awesome because its portrayed differently than stereotypical chinese wires i think the computers were kinda nice of a touch actually...it isnt often that you get to see an awesome movie with martial arts to boot.
  24. Yeah Blob0n is absolutely right actors do tons of stuntts tese days. and yes tom cruise does many more stunts than he doesnt do. even keanu reeves did nearly all the fighting. the only types of scenes he didntt really do too much of were like crashing and stuff like that but the martial arts he did almost all of himself. all the matrix actors did. but there are some things that they just dont let the actors do like some stunt driving for example.
  25. whoa vito you seriously underestimate both jackie and jet...the simple point is that those moves they do are excellent for coordinatino and both have been doing martial arts for a long time and train very hard. and whoever said they worked with the best of the best is right. movies are a great way to learn. u go thru so much coordination and reflex training not to mention get in amazing shape. tom cruise went through months of reflex sword training for the last samurai. and dont diss wushu because it is awesome. as for the orignal question. bruce lee i believe would undoubtedly win in a street fight but if they were all like 90...ill put my money on ueshiba..haha.
