  1. In theory JKD is meant to be perfect because it is no style..it gives the user complete freedom to adapt and counter any style or techniques. however most people believe that they can use this application and be bruce lee overnight, not realizing that even he practiced and studied many other arts in order to create JKD. u cant expect to take the final product without all of the pieces to the puzzle. i would build a solid foundation before looking at JKD. and then once u have a much better understanding of the arts and are better at using them start looking at what it has to offer.
  2. Well lets see, Bruce Lee is dead so not him, Chuck norris is friggen old so hes out, jackie chan is too nice so hed probably lose. So who does that leave? i dont know who would win, this has to be like the 20 millionth time historic and present fighters have been compared to each other.
  3. I believe it was called enough....kind of a corny movie but i think she also did some krav maga in that as well...i recognized a couple of the techniques as KM. and who else...angelina jolie, ever since tomb raider she has been into kickboxing.
  4. Well yeah thats exactly right im just saying that because someone has done movies or television doesn not at all mean they dont know their stuff.
  5. Hahahaha...wow that was pretty funny.
  6. I dont think some of the hollywood MAists are so bad. i mean chuck norris knows his stuff...jackie chan and jet li are phenominal at what they do. i mean just because someones an actor does not mean they dont know what theyre doing.
  7. I personally havent been in too many fights myself so i cant be sure but i can speak from my own experiences. one of the only fights i ever got in(it was also the most recent) i used a high sidekick to the head and nailed him. i think he was a boxer cuz he was fighting like one. the funny thing was eventhough i did it real fast he did attempt to make a very sloppy punch in that split second towards my waist area. it didnt work because i used a block that from what ive seen most TKD schools dont emphasize... blocking ur damn crotch. of course u will get crucified if u open ur crotch up like that but if u block its not really a problem. kicks can work amazingly in a fight as good as anything else, they just need to be practiced and used somewhat conservitavely. but like i said im not someone who has a bunch of fighting experience its just what happened to me.
  8. Wong Fei Hung was amazing...so was Bruce Lee. i honestly dont believe in the whole 30 man gang thing because first of all i think its impossible unless he was fighting a gang of children or he had a machine gun....but still there were fables and stories made after him so what would u expect...obviously hes one of the greatest and a true legend, same goes for Bruce Lee. i try not to compare them cuz they are both infinately better than i will ever be and i respect what theyve done.
  9. In a nutshell, taking the fight to the groung and winning it there. many people who fight professionally study this because most find it fairly practical on the street and in the ring.
  10. KSU wellness center combat room.
  11. Haha...i wont lie...i train to be a tough guy. not a violent bully, but someone who can step up to the plate and deliver. in terms of health it has its benefits but that sort of takes a back seat to combat seeing as how i go to the gym anyway.
  12. well for one thing they seem to have about a million different knives...
  13. Wushu is a lot of fun to watch because its very intricate and beautiful. so are some of the more internal systems that the chinese have like tai chi or bagua if you are in the mood to watch it. i like Jeet Kune Do as well just because its so loose and free and i can really get into it. Capoeira is pretty cool too.
  14. I just thought Ravencroft sounded badass so i went with it. my real nickname doesnt sound as cool so i decided not to use it hehe.
  15. You know who makes a damn good bad guy? Jet Li in friggen Lethal Weapon 4, its too bad he doesnt do more bad guy roles just like that one. Wesley Snipes as Simon Pheonix from Demolition Man is one of my all time favorite villains too.
  16. wow...im blown away. i didnt realize ninjas were that cool. i mean if theyre cool enough to make this guy want to * in his pants then i guess that proves me wrong. i stand corrected everyone. ninjas would undoubtedly beat the samurai....wow.
  17. I didnt say he was the best...i said he was the greatest. WW helped me clear that one up earlier. who was the best? we will never know. but whether he was the greatest or not is all an opinion when it gets right down to it. yes i will defend him because i do believe that he was the greatest and so far ive been given no reason to change my opinoin. what you say is true but i dont think a lot of what i am saying is too far from the truth either.
  18. Yeah thats true but spin is right just by playing around you will get more familiar with the weapon thats just a plain fact anyway you look at it. but what you really have to remember is that not everyone can take formal lessons and teaching themselves is all thats available(like in my case). not everyone can afford it, or have a ride, or whatever the reason. and besides, its really not that difficult to break habits it just takes a little re-learning is all.
  19. Yeah i know. i would be very surpirised to find any records at all of ninja doing a full on attack on the samurai like that.
  20. and that is whats so great about it...and i dont know if u are mistaking me for one of those "posers" but yes i have read his book and watched his movies and yes i think ive even posed in front of the mirror before(haha)but i know that everything he said wasnt his own statement but im pretty sure that everything ive said is true. no one has made MA more famous than him or revolutionized training as he has. he was also probably the first to train in so many arts like that constantly driving himself to be the best, throwing traditional barriers away. yes there are too many bruce lee worshippers out there and many of them are ignorant but that just proves my point even further about how famous he made the MA and what he did with it. there will never be a best because somewhere out there, there is always someone better. but what i am sick of(and im not directing this at anyone)is people always trying to criticize him trying to prove just because he was the greatest that there was someone else better. it would be the same way jackie chan were revered as the greatest. people would constantly compare everyone to him trying to doubt or criticize what he could or couldnt do and its fricken annoying. and then the best part is how all of those naysaying critics with nothing better to do than try to dig up dirt to see if they cant injure his reputation or tear down the legend to satisfy their opinion. yet i bet all of those people who criticize bruce would have just a little more respect if they were to step foot in the ring with him for 1 minute. me for example, im a guitarist. i dont look at jimi hendrix and be like, "nope he wasnt the best there was like this concert back in 65 and this other guy was better than him and was actually the one who wrote purple haze so jimi isnt the greatest." i dont walk around doing that because i have respect and i know that i cant do what jimi could which leaves me little to no room to criticize. anyway thats just me going off on a heated little rant so take it as you will.
  21. ...i wouldnt say that. they werent really all that much faster. you are making a generalization about all samurai. u forget that if a samurai was a 5 foot fat guy...it doesnt mean that all were 5 foot fat guys.u are mentioning qualities that vary from person to person. but it is a fact that the samurai studied much more into combatative arts. remember now we are talking about a contest of who would win in a fight(at least i am). i am not saying that there werent shinobi out there who could beat samurai but in general i would say that they would not. maybe you dont feel that way.
  22. well i d believe him to be the greatest. if u wanna try and pull up all of these unverifiable little statistics that no one gives two craps about go ahead but when it gets right down to it none of it ha been proven and it all goes back to opinion. but i do agree with one thing y'know what i say? leave the man alone. enough has been said already. don't worship the legends, go make your own legend. don't look to whether or not he was the best go and make yourself the best. don't try to be like someone else. try to make other people want to be like you. martial arts is a very personal thing so why spend so much time worshipping someone else? you should be concerntrating on yourself. well said.
