sorry for making another "most effective, most useful, most best" thread but i am really stuck on what to take at a martial art academy nearby. im prob going to cross train and take 2-3 classes per week. but im want to be a well-rounded martial artist. i need 2 or 3 of your suggestions on which grappling/ground fighting and striking art is effective for combat and self defense. heres a list on what the academy teaches if it helps..(JKD, Jun Fan, Wing Chun, Muay Thai, Kali/Escrima, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Capoeira) thanks

as corny as it sounds....i was actually taking notes as my friends were sparring, i just wanted to see wihch art looked nice and was best suited for me..im learning BJJ for sure but im still stuck on if i should take Muay Thai or JKD
-
wow, what a fight! i mean sparr...well it didnt turn out like it was suppose to be. my muay thai friend "accedently" kicked my other friend(who studies wing chun) in the balls...he was on the ground for quite a while...so i guess the fight was over. and as for my other friends, my jkd friend kicked some serious *, he handed dave(the guy who studies Jun Fan) his *. o btw, it wasnt full contact..except for the Mauy Thai and Wing Chun sparr...
-
i already have ppl betting money for this?! lol anyways um they're going later today actually, and another group of my friends are going to go sparr too. man i feel so left out..my other friends are currently learning Jun fan and another is learning JKD, both for about 7 months. Do i have any bidders on the JKD guy?? or the Jun Fan guy??? jp.. gimme some of your opinions about who will win? ill tell you guys the outcome later.
-
my friend has studied wing chun for about a year now, and another friend of mine studied Muay Thai for a year too. they're going to go sparring later this week, i was wondering who you guys would think would win, ive been to both of their practices and Muay Thai looks really rough and Wing Chun looks like a serious self defense art.

thanks for the suggestions you guys -
not to sound like a complete * because im a newbie and all but, i was wondering what the difference between Jeet Kune Do and Jun Fan was..or is there no difference? i was looking at the schedule of this martial arts place and JKD and Jun Fan are on different days and times. if there is a difference which one is more effective in self defense or which one has more groundfighting/grappling?

^ thanks for the website, there is this place 10 mins from my house that teaches 7 diff. kinds of martial arts including Mauy Tai(sp?) BJJ, Jeet Kune Do and 5 others..the guy "supposedly" taught Bruce Lee for a while..im going to go check it out this weekend. sorry to get of subject and all, this is a stupid question but if a person who takes Muay Thai and a person who take BJJ gets in a fight or sparr who is most likely to win? -
im turning 16 next year and my parents are buying a car for me "supposedly". ive been driving around im my moms protege for a while now, im looking into a car under $10000(sedan) im thinking of a 3rd gen. accord or some other cars that i can work on, some car that has some aftermarket support.

well the subject is kind of self explanitory, im looking into getting back in shape because my track season is almost over and so is the school year, whats the best korean martial art that helps self-defense,getting in shape, flexibility and building muscle?
-
thanks for all of your suggestion again, i just want to say even tho this is off topic that i got 4th place in the 800m race today at my track meet, woohoo..ok anyways..i found out that my schedule is a little tight with studying and everything that i only have time for 1 sport/martial art. i dunno, im thinking of boxing..but then there is a choi kwan(sp?) do place near my house and i also want to take hapkido..decisions decisions..i want to have fun while in getting in shape also..im not wanting to be a straigh out fighter
-
yea, thanks for the suggestions and comments, ill defenatly try to avoid fighting with people. anyways i got a track meet tomorrow, so i better go get ready and get some sleep, and thanx again for your suggestions.

umm, i live in georgia,(gwinnett county) and our cc season is around fall/winter time and our track is winter/spring, so its the same as yours.. i think ill be able to do wrestling but then that'll cost a lot of money paying for cc/wrestling and track. plus for cc we go on disney trips every year and thats about $220 and u have to bring ur own money..about another $150. im not a rich kid so i doubt ill be able to join wrestling..ill take judo and learn boxing from my dad..lol he's good enough to learn from, i think.
