  1. My friends know that I can fight on my own But I've also never been confronted by an attacker, let alone while with my friends I think my friends would jump in only if they saw me getting beat
  2. As for myself, I'm only 135lbs, not much mass there That's why I need to up the velocity of my punches to increase the momentum Momentum = (Mass)(Velocity) better known as p=mv Man, and I've only got a C in Physics
  3. I do alot of flicker jabs Jabs from waist level going up Their whiplike nature is good at causing swelling If you feel more comfortable with a southpaw stance, use it. Don't worry about it
  4. My trainer lost the contact information for them, so I'm gonna do San Shou instead I'll ask the promoter if long tights are allowed, but I might just wear spandex shorts instead
  5. I don't have a special technique I just jab effectively I guess my axe kick would work, but I don't use it much while sparring. It's more of an upward front kick that hits at the tangent. If I'm in a pickle, I clinch I learned this throw last night that I actually did well. A No-Gi Tai Otoshi. I might work on that throw. As for takedowns, I like Lateral Drops
  6. Get boxing gloves, Everlast Semi Pro's are nice If you want color, go for Twins For your headaches, get a good mouthpiece, like a shockdoctor or brain pad What headgear are you using? Karate headgear or boxing headgear?
  7. A good grappler with good striking would If a grappler could outstrike Bruce then take him down, he's got it made But I do not believe that his strikes were overrated. Most guys in MMA can't strike well anyway.
  8. I'd do it You'd develop a good striking base Then after you grapple, it can just be complementary
  9. I block usually by just bringing up my glove or forearm Sometimes, I use a helmet defense
  10. Bruce Lee was good for his time I don't think he'd do well against top fighters of now However, many UFC fighters just plain suck, and are not top fighters. Bruce Lee would beat them. Bruce Lee would do better in Shooto or ZST
  11. Any kickboxing events coming up around Wilkes Barre or Scranton? I live in Bloomsburg, so I'm looking for an amateur fight near me.
  12. A catch in boxing is just a little smack on the punch It kinda redirects it a bit
  13. I either put my forearms to my face or I slip it That looks kinda dangerous
  14. I'm not talking about a roundhouse kick I'm talking about a front kick to the face

  16. Counter with a hook
  17. Pinch the elbows in and get wrist control
  18. If someone's running straight at you, let them come in and kick them in the face If you can't deal with an unskilled goon running straight into you, how will you fight a skilled opponent?
  19. To be honest, I'd advise against it I've considered going to Thailand, but I'd prefer to learn Muay Thai in America first. I don't plan to go to Thailand until I have train Muay Thai here for at least a 2 years. However, yes, it will be a great experience. You could get some awesome fights in those 4 months, so I'd enter with some experience.
  20. p=mv and conservation of momentum Heavier guy has more mass in his punch Lighter guy may have more speed The momentum can the same, but they hit an object, and depending on the mass of the object, the force of impact can be intense, or something that can be shrug off. The same goes for the motion of the target. An inward motion by the target adds more force to the impact. AN outward motion lessens the force, and if it doesn't hit, negatest the force.
  21. Muay Thai has it's strong points with kicks, clinches and knees However, amateurs and most THai Fighters usually reach out for their The fighters who improve the boxing aspect are almost unbeatable For example, Masato of K-1 Max, who trains both Muay Thai and Boxing I'll be training Muay Thai and Boxing this fall, and I am going to concentrate on Boxing before I do Muay Thai.
  22. I'd look pretty good There is a promotion in Japan called Shootboxing, basically San Shou with Submissions, elbows, and knees allowed, where the fighters usually wear tights Mine'll be on a budget, but I have a basic idea of what to wear My question is, however, are they legal in full contact? Will they require me to wear those bland plants that everybody else wears?
  23. I'm planning to enter a Full Contact Event. I have no yet contacted the promoter, because my trainer will have the contact and event information for me on Tuesday. However, I was wonder if Long tights (like in Shootboxing) were legal in Full Contact. The reason? I want to stand out and put a bow on my tights
  24. Running in water is actually a good workout For example: trying to sprint underwater is real workout During Cross COuntry season, if it rains, our coach has us go to the pool But I can't swim too well
