Do you Practice breaking ? Do you agree that it is apart of martial arts? What type of objects are used to break in your style? What style do you do? Do you like or dislike this part of Martial arts? Is it Benificial?

Kumite: 10 - 15 matches (1.5 mins), (kumite is optional for ages over 35). Have you always done that amount? At our Kyokushin club the shodan grading does 40 rounds which he has to be dominate for at least half of them. Even between the same style there are differences.!

Please keep adding your thoughts ....To add to the Question Name the most important parts of a kata. that could be marked throught all style. Concentration! has to be a key for all. try and think if it could be judged through all styles .!

Give the student three months to learn the requirments then do something similar to a grading if it is not at a brown belt standard then lower him. if he really wats to keep the brown belt then he will train ...he could always skip a grade at the next grading if you did lower his grade .

through where Iam training 16 is the age used for a black belt grading, but over the years we have only came across 3 younger then 16 and grade them as a junior black belt . the belt is black with a white stripe through it with no kanji or dan. and a certificate saying shodan-ho (patential shodan) but this is an area that is difficult what do you do when they turn 16 do they do another black belt grading as the adults do or should they just be given the black belt how would the junior black belt feel about this.?

what is with the Oyama type people. This is my personal opinion this has little to do with the style that i participate in. at no point if a human life would be in danger would i do anything. and yes i have been attacked and placed in hospital after an attack in which my head got in the way of a baseball bat. there are times which you can defend yourself and times that you cant. through my opinion (not Mas Oyama) it is benificial. Oyama People!?!? So why the descrimination against Kyokushin we are all martial artists I have no problems with anyother style or be disrespect them in anyway but then people like you go and say please continue with Kata tournament thread

Each and every person has there own opinion on full contact tournament i believe they are benificial a learning curve to have an actual person to fight. to become use to being hit and to have the ability to counter strike these such tournaments help timeing and self confidence that your technique if needed to be use is capable of protecting yourself if you have never been hit or hit someone else in full contact then when the time comes and you need to defend yourself how will you know if you are strong enough and capable of doing so. through full contact tournaments you do know and gives each student self confidence.

So contact sparring has no effect what so ever! there is no postives to it. So the people that come face to face and tell you to give them your wallet, wedding ring or even go to abuse you or if you see someone else being attacked. your saying you would just walk by and not take any notice in particular women whom men are more then likely to walk face to face due to the face they may have a physical advantage over. Full contact through my knowledge is a learning experience that sould be attempted by all, you gain more knowledge from fighting someone then kicking a bag!!!!!

just wonder what are the most popular weapons for different styles and why and differnt weapons styles use. would the Bo be the most popular because its easy to come accross..eg broom stick
