thanks taI, oh yeah, what would be better to use while training just by urself? a bouken, or a shinai?
-
well, it's sorta hard to do them in the first place... but my friend can do two finger push-ups... pretty crazy stuff... almost a bruce lee
-
ummm.. maybe someone that takes the class could tell me some exercises... or maybe i could get a site that works...
-
Can you guys tell me some exercises they do with boukens, or shinais... anything that someone could do by themselves, or with a partner.
-
All right, misunderstanding... let's continue with the good information. Oh yeah, thanks for that bodybuilding.com site, it did help me out and give me a lot of information.

A long staff, broom handles, whatever... and a knife. Like the size of a kitchen knife so if in need, you can use a kitchen knife as a weapon, and handle it like a master.

hmm... interesting... well, the thing is, i'm really not trying to get big at all. i'm trying to get small right now, lose some fat. It's just doing the low carb diet that I'm doing, when I do workout, I feel so tired and after a few days, i just need to quit because my body feels so sore... so that's why i wanted to know what's up with the carbs, and if they're relaly that bad for you. and if not, what carbs are good for you?
-
ooh, that tape thing is a good idea. I enver thought about that. I just usually set the height to my own height, because mines a standing bag, and I just beat it and I go all out. helps me out when I'm pissed or stressed.

I've heard so many different points about carbs and protein. Things like eat as little carbs as you can and eat lots of protein, like the atkins diet. But, i've also read that you need more carbs because if you don't, it will lower your endurance and severely weaken you. And eating too much protein and too little carbs is bad because your body is more used to burning carbs... I just wanna know how I should eat, because I really wanna lose some weight... and it'd go a lot faster if I knew what to eat, and what not to eat.

Yeah, I've read isometric exercises give u more definition in ur muscles and give u a more cut look.
-
Yeah, from what sevenstar, I tend to overtrain a lot. It's not that hard for me to work every muscle and that's what I just feel like doing. It's weird for me to workout just my arms and chest and then just stop there.

Well, I can do both of those things now that I have a benchpress. Thanks for the information. -
Training by adding more weight to your body
BruceLee replied to BruceLee's topic in Health and Fitness
yeah, i've read that after learning how to move fast with the weights on, you can move even faster without the weights. -

yeah, I've seen the prices for armor, I know it's very expensive... but just the idea of being to learn how to do all of those techniques like parries and stuff, and the techniques in fencing look very interesting as well. I just wish someone could teach me like a close friend instead of having to go to a school because of the costs and the time. -
Wrestling and Jiu-jitsu?
BruceLee replied to BruceLee's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Yeah, I've seen some of the Gracie brothers fight in UFC and other things like that and I've seen their techniques, it's pretty crazy stuff. I saw a book on it at barnes and nobles, maybe I should take a look at that, since that's about the closest I'll get to learning BJJ. -
Isometric exercises... my friend showed me this one today in class, and it seemed really easy and I could feel it when I pushed hard enough. Does anyone like using these exercises when they don't have access to any sort of exercise machines?

Training by adding more weight to your body
BruceLee replied to BruceLee's topic in Health and Fitness
Wow... thank you for all the information. Well, I don't really have anything like that machine and I don't go to a gym, but I do have ankle-strap weights that I like to use. Well, thanks again. -
What I'm doing right is one hour or so of just working out the full body, using weights and jumping some rope to warm up. Then the next day, I'll just do cardio for like 30 or 45 minutes.. and then repeat from there. Of course I will watch my diet and stuff, and I know I won't be able to lift much, so that is why I am keeping the weights low and the reps around 15. Do you think i should change it?
-
I always thought bouncing was bad for stretching because stretching is simply to help well stretch the muscles. Stretching should be slow and held for a while, about 30 minutes or so. I've also seen and heard from other people that keeping one position on stretching is good and bouncing is not.

Are splits really that great? I understand the idea of it because it takes 48 hours for your muscles to heal, so it's better to seperate and do groups of muscles, but what about if u work them all, and then the next day u do cardio, and then rest and do simple stretching and cardio... I'm pretty overweight, so would that be better to do? one day of weight-lifting, then two days of cardio?
-
Have any of you done this? I understand that adding weights to your ankles and wrists and anywhere like a weight vest can mess up the joints, but is it better on your muscles and does it relaly help ur speed? Oh and one more thing, about the joints, do the joints somehow get stronger or whatever as u add strain to them like bones, or they just stay the same?

Tactics in the ring
BruceLee replied to Ziggy's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
I know it's been a while since anyone replied, but I thought i'd say something. I say the best thing to do is first learn how the other one fights. And fight smart, and Monkeygirl has a good point, frustrating them can really make them forget everything and make many mistakes. Just don't get mad yourself, and don't waste your kicks, you lose more energy in a kick or a punch when you miss. -
Yeah, I hope wrestling will help me a lot.

Wrestling and Jiu-jitsu?
BruceLee replied to BruceLee's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
I always thought Judo was more of a throwing and takedown martial art, not really a "wrestling" martial art. -
