  1. Michigan TKD, What year did the first demo team go to N.Korea(?)
  2. Ox, Might I ask what organization your Master is from ie. who granted his 9th Dan? No disrespect just acurious question! TAEKWON!
  3. ...The purpose is to let the lungs fully expand!
  4. Ox, I viewed the site. The forms are the same as the ITF with a few exeptions! 1.Bai-Sai (Red Belt) is not a part of the Chang Hon(ITF Pattern Set) 2.ITF has three required hyungs for each dan Our belt system is different as well however that does not have to do with the hyungs (got off track)! TAEKWON! Spookey
  5. Tufrthanu, I have suffered broken ribs, detached ribs (torm from the muscles at the sternum, ect.) and have been incapasitated by such blows but never "knocked out" ...that happens from either loss of blood to the brain or sudden impact of the brain! Furthermore, it is objective to exhale strongly when getting hit. Please bare in mind that a strong kick to the abdomen wether tightened or ballooned will hurt...period! TAEKWON! Spookey
  6. Sir, The Chang Hon Tuls (ITF patterns) were introduced far before the theory of sinewave! Many "old school" instructors are masters from before sinewave. I am now incorporating sinewave in my hyungs however, I am not far removed from the original practice! Do you all use 20 or 24 patterns and does 2nd dan practice Kodang or Juche (some other changes made since the creation of our hyung set! Furthermore, I have found sinewave to be a natural motion which is (at a beginner level) exagerated to show ones understanding of the up and down motion of the technique...however, in the more advanced practitioners it is much more subtle. Also, when using sinewave (natural amounts) it feels to me to be more asthetic and smooth. For instance it is natural to lift your hips from a deep stance to standing and equally natural to lower your hips from standing into a stance! By using the knee as in every other activity (walking, running, ect.) you are subconsciencly creating a sinewave. I await your responce as to the number of patterns you have and which 2nd dan pattern your instructor teaches! TAEKWON!. Spookey
  7. Dear Cloudy, I am not interested in arguing my point...I wish to hear the thoughts of others! P.S. I am not in a dark alley, but if ever the situation arises I asure you I will not defend myself with a "Mouse-Keyboard" combo!
  8. Dear All, I appreciate your replies! KEEP EM' coming!!!!!!!!! TAEKWON! Spookey!
  9. Dear Readers, So many people feel comfortable in trashing Taekwon-Do, yet no one wishes to address specifics. How often people speak of the politics of TKD in generalizations )especially on this forum) yet of some 50+ viewers to this thread only one reply! I appreciate that one reply and hope to see more in the near future! TAEKWON! Spookey
  10. TKD and TSD, Tang Soo Do is the Korean version of Karate (adapted from Karate and basically the physical translation of Karate in Korea). Taekwon-Do is a traditional art as well that was created with the modification of techniques from Karate-Do as well as other arts. (Submissionfighter, you generalize TKD as a sport, however it is a combat art with combat applications that has a modified sporting capability...Not all TKD is sport sparring!) Many Kwans united unde the umbrella name of Taekwon-Do...and as such there are many variations of the art! The kwan of my teachings (Oh Do Kwan) does have many kicking techniques, but it has an equal number of hand techniques. Furthermore, it has releases, throws, and joint destruction! This is the ITF ciricullum originated by Gen. Choi Hong Hi! TAEKWON! Spookey
  11. Dear All, It is not reverse breathing...it is breathing the way the body was ment to! This type of breathing is used by singers! It allows for maximum acceptance of oxygen when you inhale, and forces out the maximum amount of carbon dioxide upon exhaling! Basically, it is the most efficient way of breathing, allows the blood the highest oxygen saturation and the lowest carbon dioxide saturation, allowing you to have increased musclular endurance as well as increased resperatory stamina...YOU DONT GET TIRED AND WINDED AS QUICKLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  12. Dear Sir, I edited the poll to correct the problem! Sorry, if the original question was off base~! TAEKWON! Spookey
  13. POLITICAL HISTORY OF TKD...Q&A I am hoping to allow a thread to debate the conceptions and mis-conceptions of TKD politics... Just for Starters: Why did Gen. Choi leave the S. Korea Was the WTF formed as the nemisis of the ITF (and if so why) Did the government of S. Korea force several Korean ITF Masters back to S. Korea by threats and use of force Have you witnessed TKD goons (WTF/ITF) strong arm the others dojang These topics seem to be debated around yet not directly addressed by most instructors and kwan jangs...I am looking forward to hearing from you all!
  14. Akima, "to avoid persecution"...yes, by a man he once helped sentence to death...HISTORY. What happened to the president afterwards, or the next after him...North of the 38th parallel is not the only porion of Korea that has had a volitile political history since the end of the Japanese occupation. As relates to my age... I am old enough to form an honest opinion of right and wrong! TAEKWON! Spookey
  15. Akima, I originally engaged you based on a comment you made regarding Gen. Choi and DPRK. Your comment led me to believe that you were stating that Gen. Choi was wrong for going to DPRK. Was I mistaken in that assumption? If so, I wish for you to reinterate the purpose of your post that I first responded to! However, if my assumption is correct then I am requesting that you offer greater explanation! These forums are for the purpose of debate, correct. Furthermore, you stated that all we have learned is political *...what knowledge do you have that make you more informed than me. And in the spirit of humanity would it not be respectable to assist others with the knowledge you posses to reeducate us in our misinformed beliefs! Finally, please explain why Gen. Choi going to DPRK is such a problem to someone as informed as yourself! TAEKWON!
  16. " How it applies here" Akima, Gen. Choi moved in? He maintained a resident of Canada until he returned to his homeland to die... also, why is it okay for Kim to give million+ dollars to DPRK but a problem when Choi opens up operations in DPRK...did the Mc Donald's Corp. commit treason when they opened up shop in Moscow? No! I fail to see the problem...please offer your point of view! TAEKWON!
  17. The Thai boxer in both movies was the same person! WAY different hair cut! And the fight seen is almost identical..."recycled choreography! Bad Acting! Spookey!
  18. Best of the Best 2- Gunman after Alex's son in the house The Hot ,the Cool, and the Vicious- all fights, that guy can kick! Last of the Mohicans- when the father killes the main bad guy best comical fight scene: Fearles Hyenna...Chan dressed as girl fighting big guy in fur...Jackie throws his boob:) Well, those are my favorites! Spookey
  19. Mrs. Akima, All history is propaganda because it is not 100% factual...only pure through the eyes of the writer (and this is given he is not partial)! Furthermore, if it is the WTF you are mad at then why do you speak of Gen. Choi with such contempt? Finally, what do you consider REEL TKD HISTORY? TAEKWON!
  20. Akima, General Choi didnt join the DPRK Military...he went as an ambasador of TKD. He did exactly what you stated in your olive branch theory! So where is the problem? You speak of flight from freedom to communism... do you realize it was the free "Republic of Korea" that has suffered how many coupes? You speak of history from but one side! Maybe you do not understand the political climate of the Republic of Korea... the name "republic" is more than a bit deseptive. I may be confused, but if so willing to learn! So I will "have a seat" and request that you educate me! Choi meets with DPRK, USA visits Moscow, IRA and protestents at the table, Jews and Muslims...where is the problem? TAEKWON!
  21. Dear All, Some of the greatest fighter/instructors in the legacy of MODERN fighting must include some of the "unknown" RoK special forces TKD instructors! They are documented as being the most brutal and effective killing machines in Vietnam. They also have proven human (compassion) qualities making them very note worthy! I would like to make one of those men KNOWN today...Sgt. Major Kim Bo Kyum! He was the RoK Instructors Group Instructor stationed in Di-An from 1968-1970! Others of note are Kang Chung Man and Suh Jong Mook! They were all Master Instructors of Major General Choi Hong Hi and the Oh Do Kwan! Never Forgotten! Spookey TAEKWON!!!
  22. Treebranch, TKD is a combat art that has been modified to provide a sports venue! Judo as well is only a modified form of a combat art! However, when the olympic styles (WTF/USTU) sprang up with their "way" of doing things they did not have the respect to change the name from Taekwon-Do to something else...Kano did and this is why Judo does not take away from the original arts combat history! TAEKWON! Spookey
  23. Akima, TKD is NOT a sport! Sport TKD or Olympic TKD is sport but not all TKD is sport oriented and that is not a thing of the past! Traditional Taekwon-Do is not far away in the hills of Korea in millions of years past. It is alive and well in those that practice it. Furthermore, it is readily available for those who might open their eyes and search! Sir, why do you spend such time speaking with contempt for Taekwon-Do...you could be training something other than your propaganda muscles! P.S. I read the reply on the "Is TKD the same as Karate"...I gave the rest of the story to allow one to fairly reason their own opinions of "politics"...as opposed to your attempted spread of propoganda! TAEKWON!
  24. Akima, Did YOUR instructor bother telling you that General Choi was born in North Korea! Furthermore, did he tell you that the IOC of South Korea (President of the WTF) is under indictment for stealing over 1 million dollars. Furthermore, he stated that the money was given to North Korea to assist with sport oriented relations between the countries. Finally, you failed to mention that the Koreas' (North and South) entered the 99' Games together...now, why is it okay now for the IOC(s) to be friendly working for the unification of their country, but viewed as treasonous for a civilian to do so? Now, remember I will add the rest of the story everytime I see this poorly attempted propoganda! And have the nerve to speak of political *:(
  25. Delta 1, I wish to agree with you regarding TKD as a fighting art! Every dojang has a certain concentrated direction of study (self defense or sport)...Likewise, different organizations have different ideology regarding course of study. Original Taekwon-Do was not a sport it was a fighting art! Taekwon-Do was around almost two decades before the WTF came about; Furthermore, it was many years later that TKD became a sport! The Oh Do Kwan/ITF system practices joint destruction, eye gouges, ect...also, self defense and breaking (power) demonstrations are required for promotion well before the black belt level. Keep in mind that what you visualize at your local Mc Dojang is quite possibly what Gen. Choi Hong Hi refered to as bastardized Taekwon-Do! TAEKWON!
