  1. JLee, There was a good MT Gym on Hwy 29 (Lawrenceville Hwy) in a small plaza...I cant remember the exact location but it is between Pleasant Hill and the next three exits south of there (I believe)...coming from the Pleasant Hill/Grayson Hwy are going South on 29 it was on the right! Just my two cents! Taekwon! Spookey
  2. Dear All, If the school you are refering to is near PleasantHill (3-4 exits north of Jimmy Carter Blvd.) it is probably the Institute of the Fighting Arts (Sifu Francis Wong)...to be honest, you should approach with a humble mindset, or be prepared to go home with one! Also, JLee, there are many good Dojangs in your area. Choi Do Kwan on JC Blvd., Kim's TKD (I cant think of the street name), and Francis Wong's Institute of the fighting arts. I am from Norcross now living in Alabama! I will contact a few friends in the area...If you will email me, I will direct you to some good starting points! Also, please let me know what interests you have specifically, as this will assist me in my thinking! Oh Do Kwan! Spookey
  3. Dear all, I would like to hear your suggestions for multiple arial breaks. Please list anything you have seen and enjoyed or things you have accomplished. All constructive replies will be greatly appreciated! TAEKWON! Spookey
  4. Michigan TKD, In regards to your no name comment regarding training in both WTF and ITF... are you aware that many, many, WTF Grandmasters were ITF masters first ...Furthermore, ITF accepts Kukkiwon Certifications up to 4th Dan! Now hows that for anti-propoganda! TAEKWON! Spookey
  5. Dear All, I am glad to know that for all the true BadASS soldiers that proved the value of Taekwon-Do in CQB battles from the mountains of the Koreas to the jungles of Vietnam...The "EDUCATED" public (few exceptions) choose to judge the value of TKD based upon the perceived fighting ability of some teenage "Olympic Hopeful". Sport is Sport and Fighting is Fighting...Fighting for your life has yet to become an olympic event! TKD, however, as the ability to be studied for either application (not necessarily both, but rather either!) To those of you that believe one must win the UFC, Pride, or some other sporting event championship in order to prove their ability to fight...Warriors have true proof ...BLOOD ON THEIR BOOTS! Sgt. Major Kim Bo Kyum, Sgt. Major Kang Chung Man, Capt. Kim, Capt. Song, and everyother soldier who proved their fightig ability out of necessity...YOU ARE NOT FORGOTEN! Oh Do Kwan, Kyong Ye, TAEKWON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Spookey
  6. Gyrl Fightes! I have a homegirl who is 5'4" about 135lbs...SHE COULD FIGHT! She was not a member of a dojang/dojo, didn't join the local wrestling club, ect. She was from a tuff neiborhood, ruff upbringing, and became mentally hardened...She was femenine in her day to day activities (just a tinch of left over tom boy:)...I met her about 10 years ago...she was mean...she had half a car tire tied to the trunk of a tree with a garden hose and this was her punching bag...she would punch it and kick it (no gloves ect.) I asked her why she did this and she replied if men are "bigger and stronger" than women then I have to fight like a man! If two guys approached me (with her present) they may have thought I was out numbered (but they found out otherwise, more than once)...HARD KNOCK LIFE! en mi el corazon para siempre! hasta la dia de mis muerte...Te quiero! TAEKWON! Spookey
  7. Congratulations! TAEKWON! Spookey
  8. Dear All, In regards to the question am I bouncey or solid...BOTH...I do the Chang Hon Hyungs (Tuls) with minimal sinewave. Enough to maximize my mass (I also hip twist or jerk) but I do not stand on my tip toes between each motion as I have seen some do...XTRA BOUNCEY! TAEKWON! Spookey
  9. Solid block and then relax! Not only does it save energy...it also keeps you from being tightened in the event you must rapidly change positions...a relaxed motion is faster than a contracted motion! I dont care how it looks...its the effect...want pretty...TAKE DANCE! TAEKWON! Spookey
  10. Dear All, I would love to hear your opinions regarding prefered breaking materials! How much harder is industrial yellow pine ( from the local home improvement store) versus the white pine most often used for breaking...does anyone have a density comparison between the two types! Hear is one specific question...at 1x12x12 (regular breaking size) 1 yellow pine board = (?) # of white pine boards? Looking foreward you guys input! TAEKWON! Spookey
  11. You held six boards with your hands??? Please dont do that again! I cant see how can have any controlled grip on 6 boards (supossing they were 1" each) unless your hands are abnormally sized! Breaking machine...board holder...please, not your hands! As far as myself, I have had no more than swelling and bruising! Last time I broke, I broke 2 boards (industrial grade yellow pine 1 x 12 x 12) I did not hit square with my knuckles but got to much of my middle knuckle! The boards broke and I will from now on take my time with the wicked yellow breaking material! Also, my father was breaking 2" patio blocks with his head...break went fine, but upon impact he raised his head and the outer edges of the block caught him in the forehead...caused some bleeding, but nothing serious! TAEKWON! Spookey
  12. MTKD, I thank you for your reply and would love to here from others as well! TAEKWON! Spookey
  13. Dear Akima, I am not angry...but if I come across that way then I apologize! However, I am a very serious and straight forward individual and can be taken the wrong way. Regarding the current conversation, I believe that several people are prostituting the art of TKD. I also believe that just because you make money doing something does not make you a prostitute! Some individuals teach valuable material and teach that material well (ma or other) and receive a high revenue in the process. However, if they are not selling an inferior product then I believe that to some extent they deserve reimbursement for their time! MTKD, Do you charge for classes? Do you sell equipment? Do you charge for testings? if so why? Odds are you answered yes to the following questions and are justified in so doing because your time is of value. I am however at a loss as to why you view this as prostitution when someone does this extremely well! I would agree with you on the "prostitution" verdict if these individuals were to not be productive in the level of students (and instructors) they were producing! TAEKWON! Spookey
  14. Dear Sir, I would like to reiterate that Jhoon Rhee served in the RoK military at the time when Gen. Choi was Kwan Jang of the Oh Do Kwan...furthermore, Gen. Choi had contol of the Chung Do Kwan during the same time period! This portion I believe to be documented however, I am unaware of any documented direct instruction! TAEKWON! Spookey
  15. I am proud of the media for their portrayal of shootings. 1. Extend gun far from body (helps defender secure the muzzle!) 2. Only use one hand (aids defender in breaking the grip) 3. Turn gun side ways (further aids in breaking the grip as well as limiting your ability to put the front site on the target!) Thank You TV! TAEKWON Spookey
  16. MTKD, I question your comment regarding Mr. Cho... would your comment therefore not stand true(based on your point of veiw) for other pioneers such as Jhoon Rhee, Ernie Reyes! Furthermore, would you not consider the WTF (not knocking the WTF...please take this in context) for it's mass marketing and commercializm. Finally, I would like to add...I own two doboks! 1. Official ITF Cazzatto (White) 2. Traditional dogi (White) yet am not sighlently knodding my head! TAEKWON! Spookey
  17. Dear Sir, I would love to learn the year (or even more specific) and the source from which this info was obtained! Also, in regards to the USTF...you may wish to look deeper into things...from my understanding it was not the fact that the ITF had ties to DPRK. I believe this due to the great length of time between the NK ties and the seperation of the USTF! Taekwon! Spookey
  18. MTKD, Sir, would you challenge the dedication of Hee Il Cho (you have frequently posted regarding his color sceam)? Are you aware that bastardization occures by immitators teaching ineffective technique! PS...I am still awaiting a responce on the Politics thread ! TAEKWON! Spookey
  19. Hold on everyone, I have a simple question! Who on this board can move from a right walking stance to a left walking stance(forward stance) with out somewhat straightening the knee (to stand) and bending the knee into the next stance...who here can even walk a straight line without utilizing the knee joint...after all it has only to purposes (extend the leg, and contract the leg)! This is sinewave! Your body naturaly moves this way! When you step, your body losses some height as the legs are spreading...as you come to an upright position before steping out with the next leg you have regained some height...Sinewave! Taekwon! Spookey
  20. " Trust in the Lord with ALL thine heart lean not on thy own understanding; in all thy ways acknowledge him and he shall direct thy path" "Fear the lord thy God" and to the fellow that stated that God only destroyed things in the Old Testament...read REVOLATIONS...the whole world is destroyed! Furthermore, Ki, Chi, Quai gong, what have you...it is a physical energy posest by the human body. God gave me this energy to keep my heart beating! Life force is not voo-doo and is not the Holy Ghost;however, meditation can be a time of prayer! TAEKWON Spookey
  21. Dear all, One minute in the mind of an outsider (non-martial artist)... Bob: Hey Earl, when you gonna teach me KURRRRATE? Earl: Well sir, I actually teach Kuk Sool Won! Bob: Hell, aint that "chinese" fer Kurrrrrate! Earl: No Sir, Kuk Sool is Korean. Bob: Boy dont you be cussin' me in no "chinese"!!! But for real, when you gonna teach me to jump over houses and shoot fire balls?
  22. Dear All, Mass x Acceleration = Force! Realistically, in order to increase you striking power you must either increase your speed or mass! However, mass is like brain power you generally only utilize a percentage of a whole. By utilizing sinewave (lowering your mass at impact) you can utilize your mass more efficiently! TAEKWON!
  23. ... I wear Macho brand and have trained on hardwood, vinyl, grass, ect. and have had no problems with traction! TAEKWON!
  24. Dear All, Jhoon Rhee was a student of the Chung Do Kwan...the Chung Do Kwan was the recognized civilian kwan associated with the Oh Do Kwan! The Oh Do Kwan was the first kwan to practice the Chang Hon Hyungs. Furthermore, it was Gen. Choi himself who convinced Mr. Rhee to adopt the name Taekwon-Do...He was the first person in the states to use the name and is therefore Known as the father of American TKD. The Chang Hon Hyungs originally consisted of 20 patterns. Furthermore, the Chang Hon hyungs were in existence for almost 20 years before Gen. Choi introduced the 'Sinewave" motion into his pattern set! Quite possibly the reason Mr. Rhee uses the original patterns without sinewave!
  25. The International Taekwon-Do Federation black belt titles are as follows: 1st-3rd Degree- Asst. Instructor (Cannot give rank) 4th-6th Degree- Instructor (May grant to half his rank) ie. 4th may promote to 2nd, 6th to 3rd, ect. 7th-8th Master 9th Grandmaster There are no technical requirements after 6th Dan...it is now what you have done for the art and manking...!!!!! TAEKWON!
