  1. what is the bunkai of those jumps?
  2. informer replied to Chito's topic in Karate
Well Chad that is a great goal your teacher has. Since 1970 only once has a Canadian made it to the podium in kata for WKF and that was just last year. The guy who did it placed 3rd and he is also 5x Canadian Champion & Jr. Champion. Now to make it to the Canadian championships you first have to be provincial champ and I have never seen your sensei at the provincial tournaments so I would say he has a long way to go. But anything is possible. The kata people from British Columbia hav dominated the Canadian Nationals for many years. http://www.wkf.net/html/world.html I'm sorry I was in a rush when I wrote that. Let me clarify what I meant. He is ni-dan in the JKF. He is trying to rank as in '#1 kata competitor in the WKF'. Nothing to do with Dan rank, just with being 'the best at kata' and sparring to...but his current focus has been kata, he won gold at the goodwill games a few years ago for sparring so he wants to see if he can make it 'big' in kata as well. Sorry for the misunderstanding. Chado

WKF does not award "dan-rank" are you thinking JKF?
  4. I know scott but many people do think that your belt contains "energy" and for this reason they will NOT wash the obi.
  5. Do you think your "chi" is in the belt? hahahha that's funny....chi is in YOU not the thing that holds up your pants.
  6. not very scientific.
  7. have you published any papers on this in any of the medical journals? I would like to read them. I have read a lot of the work published by Brian D. Johnston from the International Association Of Resistance Trainers - http://www.i-a-r-t.com/ - Johnston goes the extra mile to prove his theories. Wheather I subscribe to your theory or not I would still like to read your papers. thank you
  8. Age

    7 in my dojo
  9. I know of 1 guy who died in a tournament, 1 guy who had a heart attack during class but did not die and sadly I know 2 sensei's who had stroke and died on the dojo floor teaching class.
  10. informer replied to Chito's topic in Karate
we dont do 100 every class but probably only 30-50. pushups can be done by the students at home any time. doing more than you can normally do is a good way to get the student to "push pass their limit" MODERATION is the key. of course I drink beer/booze/wine. my only rule is that you can have no addictions, this of course would include food, booze, sex, drugs etc... I have also seen people addicted to karate or to the dojo...nobody should be at the dojo 7 days a week..they should have a life too
  11. hito kata san nen
  12. informer replied to Chito's topic in Karate
knuckle push-ups teach you how to have a good fist and good punch and strong wrist just like makiwara.
  13. are you going in the +40?
  14. People, please do not show up to this comp. thinking you can compete. Like I said all the names for kata and all kumite divisions from all provinces have already been sent in to the chairman. I know this for fact. This goes for all divisions except "over age 40" maybe chito is thinking of a different tourny
