  1. thats great, thanks!
  2. just to let you know i had a go at TKD and loved it. Its fairly different to what im used to, my teacher (dont know the korean term) says ive got karate written all over my face and it may take a while for me to adapt but im up for the challenge. Ive been training for around 3 weeks now I think and its great fun, much more relaxed i think.
  3. ive not heard of VW jettas, what r they? BTW the arosa does a 1.4 TDI and ive got my eye on it cuz its quite cheap. Anyone know if diesels are any good?
  4. Im wanting to buy brand new, i want the full 3yr manufacturers warranty. I have looked into yaris, they were a bit expensive for what they are, and they are ugly inside! Well thats my opinion anyway!
  5. Hi guys, Im looking for a new first car and well I need some help! I want something small, economical, cheap to insure and cheap to buy too! Ideally I'd love a VW golf but cant afford one! Ive been looking at Seat Arosa (they're my number 1 choice at the moment), Peugeot 106, Renault Clio, VW polo and a few others. Can anyone suggest a good first car or possibly give me some info on the above cars i've been looking at? Cheers guys!
  6. Hi every1! I am quite interested in researching the above sport as there are a few clubs in my area which I wouldn't mind trying out. However I don't know much about the sport, I've been training in Karate for 13 years (i'm after a change) and dont know just how different it is or what I should look out for. If anyone can help me out on what its like or has any clubs they can recommend to me i'd be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!
  7. what is baffling me at the moment is where are these weapons of mass destruction that saddams regime is supposed to have. Surely if they had them, now would be the time to use them. I just hope to god that they dont have them. Also it seems to me like this war on terrorism stemmed from 9/11. But why arent we going after osama bin laden? I didnt hear of any links between al quaida and iraq, but then again maybe i'm wrong on that one. I would have thought that he's the one we should be concentrating on. Dont get me wrong I think Saddam needs to be taken out, but with al quaida they are willing to kill themselves to hurt others. Fighting people that are willing to do that is fighting a losing battle, and if we dont think of something to stop those sorts of terrorists its just going to get worse and worse, despite the outcome of this war. I therefore dont believe this is a war on terror in that respect . I just wish it was, cuz then I would have been 100% sure if I was for or against. I dont really know what to make of this really. All the same, my thoughts go out to all the troops that are there, and to the family's of those that have died in action.
  8. im still learning to drive, im ok all apart from reverse parking, cant do it to save my life! just out of interest how many lessons has it taken u guys to pass ? Just curious cuz i seem to be taking forever!
  9. Im not training anymore for a few reasons but I dont wanna lose contact with my old karate squad, Toyakwai. If anyone here is from toyakwai, let me know! If you wanna stay in touch that is... Anyway I hope everyone is well and I hope to see you all again soon. Keep kickin ass!
  10. So what does everyone really think about whats goin on out in the gulf?? I personally reckon Saddam needs to be taken out, but we dont need to go to war with a whole country just to get 1 person. But then again it seems thats what the people of iraq want. Hell I dont know what to think! What I do know is that more people have lost their lives in accidents than in combat. I think thats bad. So what do you reckon?
  11. Wise words, I totally agree with your last comment!
  12. ok well good luck...
  13. Well it looks to me that you find it hard that me and other people that have messages on this post speak our mind on the experiences we've had with Go-Kan-Ryu clubs. I sick by my original post, I have seen a few of the clubs in my city and the standard is awful. Im sorry you dont like hearing that but its a fact (in other words im not slagging off but telling people what I saw, now tell me whats wrong with that!) Dont tell us what we can and cannot say on our posts!! Just out of interest why are you so touchy on the subject, is it the fact that you are with a similar club and you can see our points? Or is it the fact that you are one of these people that are trying to rip everyone off with a ridiculous joining fee, and you're failing? How long have you trained? Whats you're grade, and I mean your REAL grade?
  14. thanks kensai
  15. unfortunately you're not allowed. Its light contact to the body and no contact to the face. I heard the person that broke her jaw didnt get disqualified either. How strange!
  16. the girl I fought in the final, whilst I was getting checked out by the St Johns Ambulance lot she was talking to her mate and she apparantly said to her that she was going to deliberately get me just as hard in the same place to "finish me off" as she heard I may have broke my rib.And she did. And my rib is fractured. Thats what I've been told anyway... Anyway in the team fighting she was fighting this guy and he kicked her in the face, she took a dive, missed the mat and landed on the wooden floor, smashing her jaw. I just think its ironic that she planned to hurt someone so bad and then not long after she ends up with a broken jaw. I would love to know tho, why she didnt get disqualified or even warned of her control. What a loon!
  17. of what goes around comes around. Anyone in the Leeds comp last Sunday watching the team fighting will know exactly what i'm on about! Also thankyou to the girl who informed us that it was planned the whole time! Much appreciated.

    ESA

I am looking into different associations purely for personal interests and I was wondering if anyone here is a member of the ESA (English Shotokan Academy) or knows much about it?? If so then any info would be greatly appreciated! Thanks
  19. at the end of the day they are changing the rules of karate just to turn it into a sport... that alone is enough to make me think it should stay in its traditional form!
  20. Hi everyone! I just want to say a truly deserved well done to Jordan and John (Providence, Sheffield) who passed their 2nd dan black belt on summer camp this weekend! WELL DONE< U BOTH DESERVE IT!!! JOANNE
  21. thanks searcher , im glad someone got the topic back on track! Have u got a website for "black and blue video?"
  22. I got my black belt when I was 13 and to be honest I think that I had what it takes to be a black belt, physically and emotionally. I was totally dedicated, I still am but not as much admittedly as I have my career to consider. By the time I was 14 I had won my first world championship medal. The point i'm trying to make is that it isnt ludicris to see a young child with a black belt under every circumstance, throught my time training I have seen some incredible young children with fantastic abilities that were also mentally prepared for their role as a black belt. Contradicting my point though, in some cases I have seen plenty of young children that dont know what the meaning of a black belt is even thought they are wearing one! But then again I have seen many adults like this too, so generally I dont think age should be that much of an issue, they should just not get their black belt full stop if they dont deserve it! Going slightly off subject, in my experience I have noticed that most children that aren't really that into karate will do it up until their first dan and then pack it in altogether. Whats the point?? Theres so much more to learn from there!
  23. That website is really good! thanks!
  24. I have been training in karate for almost 12 years and have only recently decided that I want to learn how to use a few weapons, starting with the nunchaku (if thats how its spelt!) However i've been going to my library to get some books/videos on where to start and I cant find anything!! Does anyone know any good websites for some advice, or better still, has anyone here got any useful tips for me!? Is there any decent books/vids that I should look out for?? Thanks guys!
  25. Hi guys...I was just wondering if anyone has heard about or is entering the Shotokan World Championships in Las Vegas this November. I have got myself sponsorship so i'll be going if all goes to plan...maybe I might see some of you there? It's kinda difficult to get to all the big comps as most of them are abroad and too expensive, but they really are worth going to!
