  1. hey guys, well, ive decided to prepare nice and early for my tournament in september....itll be good just to get the experience under my belt. anyways, i was wondering if you could give me a little help with my program, coz well, ill need a lot. k, think ive got my diet planned. so ill leave that out. allright, in class, we do little, actually, virtually no sparring, and i dont really have anyone to spar with...so that is a major problem i know, because there is no real supplement for it....so ill have to find a way to work in some sparring/kumite experience somehow. btw, i train in kyokushin, ive been doing it for about 6 months, so im not very good haha. allright, i work nightshift, so i can work out till the arvo: plan was to stretch everyday. do 3 sets of sit ups/knuckle push ups on mon, tues, thurs. bag work on mon and thursday. i train in the dojo 45 mins on monday(work after) 1.5 tues, 1.5 wed, 1.25 thurs and 1 hour(light session)on friday. we do train really hard in terms of fast paced workouts, so i guess its a lot of cardio and explosive fitness, it really takes it out of everyone, im reasonably fit and im always stuffed. so i guess my main query is....since i train so hard at nights, would i be unwise to go and do intense sessions on the bag on monday and thursday? would i best to do slower but stronger punched etc and just work on technique? any help would be great, if you could post a proper training program you ave followed it would be great, any suggestions, improvements or additions to the program would be awesome. thanks guys (y)
  2. um, two snacks, im thinking of adding in maybe some nuts in what spot? what do you recommend for the other?
  3. howdy peoples, im competing in a few months and i thought it was about time i got down and serious with my diet. i'll give you all a look at my workout program once i write it out. but yeah here's what im thinking for nutrition: Breakfast: Multi Vitamin, zinc tablet yoghurt cereal glass of milk Brunch or whatever its called: Pasta with a tablespoon of olive oil on it bannana, apple 100g tin of tuna lunch: something, hopefully not junkfood tea: meat and 3 veg i plan on drinking no less than 8 glasses of water per day. im 18 and a little underweight. i just want a diet that makes me feel better and gives me more energy, im training regurlarly, problem is, i work nightshift which inst to good for the health. anyways, give me your opinion on that diet, any feedback is much appreciated, feel free to recommend additions/deletions etc thanks grant
  4. thanks boys (y)
  5. ok first question is about breathing. when we are doing a fast count practising basics are you meant to breath and expel it with every count? the reason i ask is i find this very difficult, because the count gets quite fast. alternatively is it wise to hold one breath for say, two or three strikes and expel after that? i always thought you were meant to breath and expel on each individual technique however? with knuckle push ups, i am majorly doing them on my first two knuckles, however, my index finger does slightly touch the ground(not taking much pressure but it still touches) should i roll completely on the points of my knuckles or is this normal? thanks, grant
  6. ive been doing knuckle push ups on concrete for a few days and i developed blisters, which is ok (y) but, im wondering if i should continue to do the push ups on my knuckles, ie. heightening resilience and damaging them further etc. or would i be best to let the the wounds on my knuckles heal before doing them again? thanks guys
  7. sup guys, im a red belt black tip, haven't been doing it long obviously. im into cars, and my dog beau. he is a black belt. tell me what music you like aight? that would be great!!
  8. hey guys, practically just started karate and im looking for a bit of help on a few issues. i know theres a search function but um, i couldnt seem to operate it correctly, so if i ask a question already answered let me know. im just gonna ask a few questions, if you can help me with any of them please reply, if you know them all, post that too. thanks guys, ur posts are real helpful. thanks for any help u can give me! 1. firstly, in our dojo, we do virtually no conditioning exercises. so, i was wondering if you could tell me the most helpful areas to condition and give me a few methods for conditioning all of these. give me even the 'hard techniques' for each area 2. how long should i stretch each day? i have real inflexible legs, any little trick stetches you know for stretching the legs? 3. know any links/websites that have cool/helpful stuff ? 4. could u give me a brief overview of different styles? just the main ones, because ive read about a few on here and i get confused between them. just yeah, give me some history on each one, the credibility of the style, the style it uses, strenths/weaknesses etc. are there any rivalries between styles? 5.i used to go to the gym 3 times a weak to increas my stength, since i began doing karate 5 times a week ive stopped. how important is physical strength?, should i sacrifice a karate lesson or two for the gym? or are the extra training sessions more beneficial for my fighting than the strength training? 6. ive only being doing karate for a few months, im fit, but not skilled or experienced by any means yet. i would love to compete, just to get some 'real fight' experience. any advice? i dont want to go in large tournaments yet. 7. could any of you guys give me some help in constructing a good program for my training? as in foods to eat, stretches, how much sparring to do, fitness, bag work, stuff like that. thanks heaps for any help you can give me on any or all of these questions. i appreciate it heaps.
