Yeah, Being quarter hawaiian, I don't really know about Lua but I know something about Kajukenbo which was a creation in Hawaii but I don't think it was a "native martial art" Ka=Karate Ju=Ju-Jitsu Ken=Kenpo Bo=Boxing. -

Movies with TKD fighting
Guy_Mendiola replied to GhostFighter's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Speaking of Grandmaster Hee IL Cho, I'm in the A.I.M.A.A organization and I didn't know that Daniel Berndhart was a TKD practitioner also. -
They do have ranking cordao(cords/belts) but they usually play in the roda or batizado to rank up and yeah there are no forms/patterns or gradings but just learning Capoeira techniques and sometimes learn to play the berimbau and sing...

jumping 360 degree roudhouse?
Guy_Mendiola replied to malic's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Yeah, It's risky in a real street fight unless you're really good and you can pull that off but it does have a lot of power because the momentum of the spin then when the kick lands it's all in one motion. -
Small Circle or BJJ or TJJ
Guy_Mendiola replied to Sammyrai's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is your best choice but on the topic about BJJ being better than Judo, I've heard that some of the Gracie's like Helio went to a Judo instrcutor in Brazil but all I know is that Maeda taught the Gracie's some Judo. -

TKD Blocking...
Guy_Mendiola replied to Dijita's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
Yeah, I check kicks with my leg or shin part and yeah it's really hard because it's a sidewards stance instead of a Muay Thai traditional stance. -
Hey, I saw on your sig that you train at Pacific Taekwon-do and is that the place where your master is Daniel Kim?. Back to the subject now, You probably are in WTF Taekwon-do where they focus more on the sport aspect of TKD and if you want you can switch, It's really up to you but I would suggest going to a ITF Tae Kwon Do school which ITF focuses more on self-defense.

Punching vs. Kicking....
Guy_Mendiola replied to silentblade8's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
Yeah, Like as I mentioned it's risky and a high roundhouse could be caught by even a person that doesn't know how to fight unless your kick is really fast and snaps back into the chamber. -
Wushu
Guy_Mendiola replied to Icetuete's topic in Kung Fu, JKD, Wing Chun, Tai Chi, and Chinese Martial Arts
Jet Li does Wushu and I've heard he was China's Wushu Champion so I would be it is for real fighting. -
Bruce Lee did have some heavily ground defense training so IMO he's the greatest and he would kick a** in the UFC.

I know what's Korean BBQ but no Shabu Shabu.

what is your personal battle cry?
Guy_Mendiola replied to Icetuete's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
In my Tae Kwon Do we have a weird kihap almost like saying arrossoo, something like that but I think that kihap could be my personal battle cry.
