  1. Try Skin Deep, Skin Shots, Tatto Energy or Total Tattoo magazines. I had a new tatt done last week,on the inside of my right arm, which didn't hurt... until I went to training the following night and we were doing a lot of grab and restraint techniques. It felt like everyone in the club was out to prise my new tatt from off my skin! Ouch!
  2. I'm good for London. Any date over the Easter hols is fine - I'm off work then, as well as away from uni.

  6. Hi Waylander! Welcome to Karate Forums. Good to have you on board! I see that you're from Preston - you don't study Shotokan with Sensei Timothy do you? I was up in Preston training with him just a few weeks ago.

  11. Hi Nitefly! Welcome to Karate Forums. Good to have you on board.
  12. I prefer the "running-away-from-your-opponent-by-bunny-hopping" explanation... I've seen and heard a few other explanations for this section of Chinte too. One was that it was 'waves returning to the sea' (spiritual application) and of course there's always the well-touted "jumping over a stick" application. We usually train the bunkai in a similar way to how Angela has decribed - unbalancing an opponent and releasing from a strangle-hold or grab. It can also be used as a great throwing technique.
  13. I'd suggest taking an XMA or WuShu or gymnastics class in order to be able to learn flips, springs etc. Unless your instructor teaches gymnastics or XMA-type martial arts along with Shotokan, then you're unlikely to learn gymnstic movements such as flips in a Shotokan class.
  14. Good luck finding what you are looking for!
  15. I don't like stiff belts - I prefer them to be "broken in" and hanging mid-thigh length.
  16. My car is very very boring. I have a 1999 Ford Fiesta Zetec. It's got a bit of a souped-up engine (I bought it cheap off a boy-racer type) but nothing too flash. My dad and I are in the last stages of restoring a VW Beetle (the old sort!), but we'll probably argue about it once we've finally finished it, 'cos we'll both probably want to drive it at the same time!!
  17. Saturday too! It was great - I can't wait to see them again.
  18. Do you need a licence to do that? You do in the UK, but a lot of people don't bother - they just learn to run really fast whenever they see a copper!
  19. Chamomile is great too. I like it with honey or spiced apple. Peppermint, ginsing and nettle teas are also nice - peppermint is lovely in the summer if you have it cold with crushed ice!
  20. I had a great Valentines day 'cos I went to a place I love - the dojo!
  21. Hey, I was there too!! I was the crazy female with the martial arts tattoos and the blue and black hair... It was a great night - Rammstein are a top band.
  22. No other soccer fans on here?? (Manchester United doesn't count as soccer!! j/k)
  23. I love tea - I'm a tea-a-holic. My favourites are Chai (Indian Spiced black tea), Redbush/Rooibosch (red tea), Earl Grey, Lapsang Souchong and Jasmin tea. However, I haven't found a variety of tea yet that I don't like or won't drink.
  24. Good luck for getting a job! Get out there and ask around - that's probably your best option, rather than looking at jobs on the net.
  25. Good luck for when you do test for high Red Laurie!
