  1. guys, be realistic. The only way it would become a matter for the court is if he sued you, and if he sued you he wouldnt have any evidence unless you would have beaten him into hospital condition. Which you would'nt have since after you get an elbow strike into his head you would have had time to escape. Now if it leaves a bruise and he's got witnesses saying that you hit first, you can easily argue that you felt threatend and therefore had to find a way to escape, so you hit him, as you're taught.
  2. Yeah hah... thats why the american "justice"system sucks.

  4. Well added GWF, just want to say that the bodys weight is'nt that little of a factor. If we take a hanging for example, it's the bodys weight that snapps the neck, so the bodys weight is leathal when used against you. The only reason boxers survive an uppercut on their chin is because they have good neckmuskles, and are pushing their chin downwards.
  5. Thanks for the info, but you cant say the power in the punches dont come from using the ground jabs, as you mentioned, takes most of its power from the ground. Now based on this you cantsay boxing is mostly rotation since boxing uses mostly jabs therefore boxing uses mostly the ground as an power "resuorce". Besides there are also uppercuts that only use the ground.
  6. Thats the point, people have actually won over Tyson. Therefore there are a number of boxers that hit as hard as him. And you cant go thinking that Tyson Could kill a cow because his tyson, it's because of his training as a boxer that he was able to kill a cow. Now i'm not insinuating that all boxers punch that hard, but close (depending on their weight ofcourse). Because that is what is taught and trained in boxing, hitting with precision, power and speed. And to get back to the main point, street fighting, thats all that is needed in winning a streetfight. Now, the one that hits (with precision, power and speed), can evade punches and keep a distance AND can charge in a controlled fashion with speed, he will most probably have the best prerequisite to win. Now that is exactly what is taught in boxing, thats about the only thing that is taught in boxing. And it's taught good, real good.
  7. Yeah, ok. But boxers punch the hardest and heaviest among martial artists (now if it's considered as an martial art I dont know). I heard from someone that Tyson killed a cow once with ONE punch. Now, I dont know if its true, but still. And if it is true then what about all the guys who take his punches (and dont get knocked out). Respect! Ps. I dont think it's possible to kill a cow with a baseball bat, at least not with ONE hit.
  8. Very well written! I totally agree, boxing is the best art if you want to be able to handle yourself in a streetfight (one on one that is).
  9. neil saids here: Wrong. If you are punching down you only get the added speed of " m*g= your arms weight*9,81m/s^2(this is the gravity in Finland, the closer to the equator you get the lower it gets), now if you calculate the added power it is'nt really that big, and since your body only supports the punch, it does'nt add any power. Now, if you punch upwards then you can use your legs to add power, and by that increase your power multiple times. When hitting down you loose most of the power that your legs can add.
  10. exactly, it adds weight, but the gloves does not weigh that much that it would matter, by your reasoning then the gloves would also be slowing down the punches because of friction caused by the air, so that the power added by the gloves weight then would then be insignifikant . Besides if the weight from the gloves would in any way be signifikant then it would be harmful to hit and miss because of the weigt pulling the arm thus causing serious damage. Now about the hands being hurt by the hitting, you must agree on the point that a boxer has got pretty resistant hands ,so if a boxer would hit someone so that he would hurt his hands, he would probably not need to hit that person again. right?
  11. Yeah, even though it looked like Lennox was'nt hurt afterwards, it was pretty obvious that he was'nt doing well at all in the fight. Lewis has got that mean right hook but he's also known for (compared to other boxers) not beeing able to take so many hard punches in his head, which I think he makes up for with his long reach. Klitchko was beginning to loose and I know that if Lewis would have gotten in his right hook on Klitchko (his eye in particular) a few more times, then he would probably have won. But then again they did get Klitchko's eye to stop bleeding. It's a lot of but's and if's but i believe in Klitchko, and i think he would have won. No one can say for sure.
  12. I like Klitschko (or however its spelled) because he is a great fighter and will probably be the next champion. Btw, he would have beaten Lewis if they would have let him continue the fight.
  13. Hi, first time I write in this forum. Just wanted to say what I say to anyone who asks me about boxing Any man who can k-o a guy; that is specially trained in evading punches and can take a desent puch, is a pretty good fighter. Especially street fighter. But we have to remember this, boxers can do that with gloves on. Now that certainly makes a big difference does'nt it, because the difference between getting hit in the face from someone wearing gloves and someone who's not, is like the difference between bare knuckles and someone using brass-knuckles? So if you ask me about who would win in a street fight, I would also put my money on the boxer. since almost nobody would stand for a punch from a good heavy hitting boxer (without gloves).
