Belt Gradings ... technique quality vs quantity?
Raminhos replied to iolair's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I think that it depends on the Martial Arts... in Shorinji Kempo, for graduation you must do the techniques and you must answer some questions (a test). And you do this from the white belt until the end!!! Blue, Brown and Black have more difficult tests similar to the ones that we do in university -
Enter in a Kumite just for fun it's a bad idea!!! Remember that something can go wrong! Even Kumite have rules and judges it's not like in Van Damme movies

Keanu Reeves, martial artist?
Raminhos replied to Rich_2k3's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
Wesley Snipes should enter in Matrix... in the good guys . He would teach Keanu how to play a hero in a Martial Art movie... He was great in Blade -

Man I hated Matrix Reloaded!!!! I enjoyed the first one but this.... The fight scenes are too long... and too bad with too many jumps from Neo.... ah... and too slow -

Yeah despite the names.... Dragon Ball was the first and was the best. The martial arts championship in Dragon Ball was great with all that characters -
Dragonball Z

The monkey was in Dragon Ball and the monkey was Songoku... because of his tail.. when exposed to the moonlight he became the monkey... but that only happened one time.. because his tail was cut... and it was Songoku I'm sure because Dragon Ball has a legion of fans in Portugal.... And I saw Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z and Dragon GT -
I agree with Cross... Martial Arts have similar aspects... and there isn't a good or a bad style or you can't say that a martial art is better than the others... it depends on who is using them

I don't know any Martial Art that says that you need to use a tattoo or something like that!!! Oh... maybe in the movies )

BOB SAPP VS. MIKE TYSON!
Raminhos replied to wrestlingkaratechamp's topic in Pro Fighting Matches and Leagues
They are two big animals...with nothing in their heads... but Sapp his the worst... he doesn't have any technique.. I saw him in a fight ... my god he looked like Bud Spencer in the movies!!! Tyson will kick his butt -
Dragonball Z
Raminhos replied to Black Dragon's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
Dragon Ball didn't start with Dragon Ball Z but with... Dragon Ball when Songoku arrived to the earth and he had that monkey tail!!! For me it was the best serie. Songoku was trying to find who he was and at the same time he was learning martial arts to fight in the martial art contest and to defeat the red army... the bad guys!!! Dragon Z was also good but Dragon Ball GT (the last one) sucks -
Well if he is a former pro wrestler in training it means that he saw to many WWF fights , with Hulk Hogan and Sid Vicious... I'm sorry Sano it's just a joke... no harm done ... But I don't agree when you say that Seagal, Van Damme or Chuck tell a story when they are fighting... and if you remember Steven Seagal does Aikido a self-defense martial art so he is not offensive... but amazing with the arm locks and other things... and other thing: only high kicks and whell kicks are not impressive it should have other things like in jackie movies or Jet Li or Bruce Lee... Oh! I remeber something... in my country I see, in Blockbuster, movies with Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Chow Yun Fat, Bruce Lee, Van Damme but I don't see any with Ernie Reyes Jr...!!!!!

I think that Muay Thay outside Thailand has a lack of tradition... With this I'm saying that it's all about training and fighting... we don't study things like the "Wai-Kru" the ritual and boxing dance that is done in Thailand by every competitors, we don't learn more about the Muay Thay traditions and philosophy like in other Martial Arts and I think that it's very important to learn these things. And the same happens with Kick Boxing

In Portugal we use Charlie and Airies... two good brands. Equipment from Airies is good and the shorts from Charlie are very nice

Keanu Reeves, martial artist?
Raminhos replied to Rich_2k3's topic in Martial Arts Gaming, Movies, TV, and Entertainment
I think that Keanu is a great actor but... in 7 or 8 months is impossible to learn martial arts and to be a great martial artist... Matrix Reloaded would be much better with real martial artists.... in the last scene in the first Matrix when Keanu does a side kick... my God! He couldn't lift his leg!!!
