Yellow Belt (2/10)

  1. Could someone maybe post the link to this ninja website please.
  2. It's a pitty they don't make cartoons like they used to. This generation of kids have to put up with crap like pokemon. When I was a little kid there was astro-boy, voltron, dino-riders, thunder cats, transformers, ninja turtles, and of course He-man and She-ra. They were the best cartoons ever. He-man was probably my fav cartoon ever but I had no idea they were making new episodes. I hope they can revive the whole he-man craze. The movie Masters of the Universe kicks * too.
  3. One of my mates in highschool introduced me to Qbasic in my early teens. I was obsessed with the damn thing for about a year. I used to spend hours sitting there on my old computer making all these games and questionares that I would get my sisters and mom to use. I would fill it with heaps of profanity and stuff that really offended people. It was awesome.
  4. Listen I own a couple of documentaries about Bruce Lee. He was believed to be the fittest human being ever and the strongest man in the world pound for pound. He could perform pushups on ONE FINGER. Now you try doing that. He would exercise for a minimum of 2 hours a day, every single day. In spite of all this I don't think he could benchpress 400 pounds. The strength and muscle mass required to do that is only possessed by dedicated bodybuilders/weightlifters/powerlifters.
  5. Assuming that you actually meant "benchpress" as opposed to "bunchpress" then i'd say there is NO WAY that Bruce Lee could do 400 pounds. But I would like to know where you heard this?
  6. Warp Spider is right on the money as usual, listen to his advice and you can't go wrong (i'm not being sarcastic either). Wrestlingkaratechamp17; I can't believe you're even contemplating using physical violence against a teacher. I mean grow up man. I am a fairly violent person myself, but I mean...assaulting a teacher who is there to help you? Don't be a fool. And don't hold a grudge against this teacher for no reason...respect him and he'll respect you. It's just highschool man.
  7. Kumite988 if you wanna see the Gracies in action, just watch some of the UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) videos.
  8. Spot on Bdaze. You should use a normal peice of rope for skipping. I know its suprising, but normal rope is much better than most "skipping ropes" you'll come across. With rope you're able to skip faster and get a better workout because it's heavier. Maybe the leather rope with ball bearings would be good, i've never tried one. But don't buy an ordinary skipping rope, they are defective if your trying to actually skip FAST to get fit. Try both and see which works for you, I think you'll find the normal rope is much better, I know I did.
  9. What I meant was, I wanna be a good BODYBUILDER and I wanna be a good MARTIAL ARTIST, independantly of each other. My reason for lifting weights is not to improve my martial arts ability. My reason for doing martial arts is not to improve my physique. Because when your trying to bulk up and stay extremely agile/supple/flexible, it doesn't work that way. The MA training burns calories. If your a bodybuilder, that's not good. MA doesn't build muscle, it may make you harder and more defined because you lose bodyfat and become leaner, but that's the opposite of what i'm trying to achieve...i'm trying to bulk up - just increase my overall muscle size. And when i'm big enough, i'll start cutting up. Plus the muscle soreness that you get from the intense weight training sessions is counter-productive when you get into the dojo...you're too sore to give it your all, and you're trying to get your body to recover but you're being made to do all these drills and crap, and you don't wanna do pushups/squats/situps at MA training because the muscle is sore and you're trying to rest and recuperate...not tax the muscle even more. Now can you see the dilemma i'm talking about. I think maybe wrestling is the only true example of MA and BB being able to gel together really well. The bodybuilding training is going to help you when you wrestle, bodybuilding is PART OF wrestling training. It's like killing two birds with one stone. But i'm doing karate, not wrestling. That's why I admire and respect people like Vandamme and Phil Barroni so much who've done both.
  10. I'm kind of at a crossroads right now. I wanna be a muscular but I don't wanna sacrifice my martial arts skills. And I wanna be a martial artist but I don't wanna sacrifice my physique in the process. Do you think both can be done successfully? I'm gonna try. People have done it before like Jean Claude Van Damme and Phil Barroni. Is anyone else on here a bodybuilder?
  11. I just want to know whether Bruce Lee drunk alcohol? I've heard that he was a casual pot smoker but i'm not sure if its true. Just something a friend told me.
  12. I've got this book too. It's pretty hardcore. The program that the author expects you to do is pretty fully on. It's not like you can just have to do a few stretches every day. I mean he talks about how you need to strengthen the ligaments and all that by doing strengthening exercises of 100-200 repetitions. I just thought wtf how am I gonna do all this
  13. Well I do it cause I like fighting and I just wanna be able to smack people and i'm obsessed with the idea of becoming UNBEATABLE. SMACK SMACK
  14. Ahh good old pushups. I have probably done more pushups than any person on earth and I have never had any wrist problems at all. For strengthening the upper torso I would choose normal pushups anyday, I only do knuckle pushups on concrete to harden up my knuckles to get caluses and make them tougher. If the wrists are a problem then you should try using pushup bars, that way your wrists will not be bent in such a way whilst performing the pushups. Here are some ways to strengthen your wrists. The best exercise to develop the wrists would probably be wrist curls with a barbell. That's the exercise that bodybuilders use. You can also buy those little hand grip things that you squeeze together. I use them all the time when i'm bored. Another good exercise is this; clench your fists into a tight ball and squeeze your fist up towards your wrist as hard as you can. Try to squeeze your fists as hard as you can and feel the whole forearm flexing. Hold it for about 6-8 seconds, then release.
