  1. No absolutely not! I would be very surprised if anyone took offence.
  2. Broomhilda000, Why did it take 4yrs to learn how to count to ten in Japanese? With the greatest of respect, are you impaired mentally in some way or do you have some kind of speach disabilty if thats the case I admire you for perservering.I ask this question in all honesty and with respect, sometimes people forget that physically and mentally impared people take part in the martial arts aswell. OSU.
  3. Massa, Sorry no I've never met anyone thats gone to China to do that and yes it appears we may of lost MartialArtist.
  4. Icetuete, Agreed.
  5. Osu. Kirves, Are you in the I.F.K?
  6. Osu, I wasn't sure where to post this I hope no-one minds me asking this here. Martial Artist, I've just noticed you hold 6 black belts in different styles and train in another two.Thats 8 styles!! How many styles have you trained in at one time? and can you give me a rough idea of a usual weeks training schedual? and how long did it take to get each of your black belts? Are you on a specific kind of diet if so what is it? I hope you don't mind me asking but I feel I could learn alot from you. Thankyou in advance.
  7. Your welcome Cactus hope you found what you wanted
  8. Hook punch to ribs
  9. I know nothing about shuai chiao can someone tell me a bit about its history please.
  10. Good stuff.
  11. This ones a tough one, a very hard point to discuss. A great question for martial artists though. Being able to react under pressure with just the right amount of force to ensure your safety is an indescribably difficult thing to do. Very often either too much or not enough force end up being used. The thing is only one of those can result in your death or you sustaining a serious injury.
  12. I don't except that Boxing is held in much higher regard than the martial arts at all. It all depends on the person your asking.
  13. Both are good arts to be involved with so good luck and train hard. Only you and you alone will know if your spreading yourself to thin.Remember look inside yourself when your training, if you feel that you need to give your art more time(more training time)you have to do it other wise you will seriously hinder your progression, that can be difficult when you are training in more than one art.Thats when some hard decisions may have to be made. You should try never to find yourself in the position where one art is suffering because of the time spent in another. It can be done but it will take maturity, I would like another car and a bike for the weekend, I could probably do it but would other parts of my life start to suffer? Just be careful one doesn't start to lose out, give 100% all the time nothing alse is good enough.
  14. I don't think there is any black or white here but there never is in martial arts because it is all about the individual.Remember fighting in a ring with rules is a world apart from fighting in reality. However, I am a very strong believer in taking part in Full contact tournaments and training at your club with as much body contact as posssible including take downs, locks and chokes. That way should you come across someone in the street that is an experianced fighter you are better equiped to deal with it.So harsh as it may sound, in my opinion if your not doing some sort of ground training you may find yourself at a disadvantage.
  15. Well done Tal for getting your Shodan in Kendo
  16. Hang in there.Karate is a very slow process but it will be with you for life if you aproach it the right way.You can never stop learning in karate. I don't think you said how long you've been training in your style of Karate, but if it's only a very short time please take the time to find out about other styles and arts.Go and have a look at them, if theres something you see that you really like and suits you then go for it, then dedicate yourself to it properly. To reep the benifits of martial arts it takes blood and sweat and there are ups and downs but only perserverance will take you to where you want to be.
  17. Knockdowns sumed it up nicely. It might hurt a little but in a new style you have to earn your rank, unless it's very close indeed to your existing style. That doesn't happen very often unless it's a break off that is basically following the same syllabus as your style. Believe me thats the way its been for a long time and there are very good reasons for it,honourable ones at that. Osu.
  18. We've got a Rhodesian Ridgeback/Greyhound.Dad was a Ridgeback and mum was a Greyhound. His name's Fred and I'm very glad I got him .He's the best dog I've owned. He's so gentle with my son and when I'm not around he goes into protection mode and looks after the household and family(my other half Jane and son Lee) Great thread by the way, I love dogs so it's nice to find out who's got what.
  19. My son will be seven this year and of course he knows how to tell lies but if I were you I would be a bit more carefull what I said my man. People don't take to kindly to being told their kids are liers.I'm studing a degree in Psychology at the moment and for the last 3 years have been reading all I can on psychology and personality types.Blaming the child is something some types do and I'm quite sure you don't want to be one of them.Conduct youself properly in front of children and you'll be fine.
  20. Some good advice given there by Monkeygirl.Warn the parents about this guy then they will be keeping an eye out as well.Make as many people aware as possible. The more people that know about this guy the harder it will be for this guy to get up to anything.I understand sometimes its hard not to react badly when you see somebody like him talking to kids but being violent in any way may result in a lot of trouble for you and sets a bad and frightening example to the kids involved. Next time you see him talking to these kids hang around, make your presence felt make sure nothing bad is happening and then warn the parents it's happened again and leave it to them to decide what action to take. The man may need help not a good kick in.
  21. I'm shocked and upset by some of the poor advice you've been given.I cannot beleive some of these people call themselves martial artists. Listen my freind, seek legal advice yes, slap your sisiter No.In the future try harder to keep your cool, you wouldn't be in this situation if you had kept it togther.Don't get me wrong I know how hard it can be to do that especially with family.I come from a very big family and know that knowbody can get to you more than family members. I wish you the best in resolving the problems with your sister and hope every thing turns out well for both of you. When things get tough train harder, don't push anyone ,slap anyone, punch or kick anyone if not for their benifit for yours I promise in the end you will gain strength from using withstraint. OSU.
