Awesome 👍 Congratulations 🎊 -
I do Karate, would I ever do full contact MMA, no only because I can't afford the potential brain damage. Personally I believe there is a Martial art for everyone. I started karate when I was a kid, now if I started as a teenager then yes MMA would have been my thing.

Yeah I say a 1st or Sbodan can promote people in rank if they stay affiliated with a dojo with a higher rank. By the time their first set of students reach he level before black they will have enough time to potentially have been promoted to 3rd

I would say Okinawan style of Goju Ryu has a lot of close range grappling.

Made me smile, lol I'm glad! I wonder how many get it...Hopefully quite a few! Yes, I got it too. Btw, none of my Okinawa friends and contacts have ever heard of the gi in question. Boop okay, thanks !

It's a heavyweight GI, but it's the most comfortable GI i own. I try not.to.wear it a lot since I want it lasting as long as possible How'd you find that Gi manufacturer?? Are they in the USA or Japan or somewhere else?? Are they affordable?? Would you recommend them for beginners?? I got it from my Sensei, and that's my issue I cannot find it anywhere online. Can your Sensei tell you where he got it from?? Are you the only one of his students that got one? I'm not sure he even remembers, lol. Yes I'm the only one that got it as it was his old uniform top. I've several friends as well as connections in Okinawa, so, I'll reach out and ask them about it. Awesome 👍

Really just when they first get their dogi, or when they need to replace a worn out patch. I wasn't sure if the other patch options might last longer, or look nicer. Maybe you can use the other kind for yourself to test it out.

So I have a GI top and the name of it is ryugi by hombu. Has anyone heard of the brand?

Thank you Scott !

Very nice patch, will as far as investment will you be charging for the patches when new students first get their Gi? Or will you be charging for the patch whenever a student needs to buy a new gi?

Congrats Zack I'm digging the wooden name plates. Ugh, getting a brain freeze what are they called again, I can't remember right now, lol

I think it happens more than we realize in the martial arts world. As far as self-promoting, he can always find another school to go to. It would be up to the new school to decide whether he keeps his rank or not.

Student is the most important title, so on the floor your students don't call you Sensei? Yes, but I prefer to be called Bob. I don't ever allow my students to address me by Hanshi or Kaicho because my dojo isn't the place for that sort of stuff. Yes, we usually just use sensei for all the instructors, though we call our some shihan. Though I will say sometimes ask Master so and so, but we don't expect to have the students say it. Master is pretty much if we're signning rank certificates.
-
So we decided new black belts with Kanji will be stripe free (may do something with titles such as Hanshi, Kyoshi, Renshi) But I I think the name plate is great especially for instructors.

Every instructor has a top dog so to speak. That being said, every top dog has a right hand man/woman. That being said, does your school/organization give them any special titles, such as Kaicho, Kancho, Dai-Soke, Shihan, Hanshi, etc

Doing karate but at home - Do you have this problem?

I think the video is great, if anything it teaches you how to fight in close tight spaces. -

Great responses everyone, I have a potential student that I may give one of my belts to one day.
