  1. I should be doing karate with you gyus then I wouldn't feel like the oddball. The people in my class don't. I'm the only odd ball. Would it be out of the question to ask my sensei to leave my socks on or something?
  2. I'm the only guy whose feet sweat and leave puddles. It really freaks people out when they see it especially when we do like 5 step sparring and they have to walk over my sweat when it's time for me to defend.
  3. Do your feet sweat alot during practice? Sometimes I hate having to be bare foot doing Karate. My feet sweat alot and on that hard wood floor I leave embarassing puddles.....
  4. Kung Fu hands down. The stances to balance in Karate just don't seem to wrok as well as Kung Fu and Kung Fu is faster. IMO.
  5. Doesn't it suck when people ask you to teach them? Afterall you paid to learn and here they are know trying to get free lessons. They'll probably ask once then try to be your friend then show up everytime you go just so they can get their free weekly lesson. Doesn't that burn you guys?
  6. monkeygirl: I'll probably get one of my girlfriends to do it for me. HE HE HE
  7. bad idea to wear the gi top along with the pants at the gym right guys?
  8. I guess I'm going to go with a medium weight Gi to train in. Is the canvas in any way better then the cotton? When I last talk to my instructor he said he hems his heavy weigth gi to shorten the sleeves and legs. How do I hem it? I would ask him, but he is currently out of town.
  9. The sad truth is IMO. If you had more then one opponent I would have to say chances you are S.O.L. You will most likey face one and the other will be on your back.
  10. You should watch it un edited. The toonami is watered down and cuts out ALOT. I'm not talking abotu seconds, i'm talking about plenty of minutes from each episode.
  11. I don't have a backyard. Like i said I live in a small place. Land ain't cheap where I live. So you guys do it in the gym and it's o.k. I guess I'll start doing it in the gym to othen. Thanks guys.
  12. I don't mean to sound messed up or anything, but shouldn't you have tried to peacefully solve the problem before resulting to force? The guy was 7 ft away and you didn't know if he was gonna start anything or just say something and let it go. I was taught not to use it to beat the crap out of people, but to defend myself. Oh well. If the guy is sober, don't go for a high kick. Chances are you'll pay the price for it.
  13. The sad truth about such a situation is that you are f.u.t.a. I forgot where, but despite all the manuals about surviving a knife attack, the truth was, you are screwed.
  14. But if he had muscles your kicks wouldn't phase him.
  15. I live in a small place, so I don't have space to practice at home. I was thinking of using the aerobics room at the gym. Would wearing my karate pants and a t shirt be asking for attention? Heck should I even be practicing in a public place like the gym?
  16. Thanks for the replys guys. I didn't know there was an intro forum. Usually the forums I go to don't have such a thing. I do Shotokan Karate. I guess I'm not that new. I've been doing it for 6 months now. My sensei is away currently and I'm waiting for him to come back in a month or so and then I'll pick up my training again. I was looking into medium weight, is the heavy weight too hot to train in?
  17. Bruce Lee was a rebel to teh traditions. Depending on your perspective it's a good and bad thing. He is still and ALWAYS will be DA MAN!
  18. Hello everybody. I just started Karate and I'm a blue belt now. I don't really know much and I was wondering if you guys could recommend a good brand of gi. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
