Which technique do you think would work the best in a street fight? Or combine them all?
-
(a better martial artist than both you an I - in case you didn't realise) A better martial artist? Yes, true but he did not study all of those just read of them and maybe saw them. So therefore he has no real solid ground to judge these things by, just by his standards which you think are good because he is famous and a great martial artist.

Not true at all. States with guns like California have huge crime rates. I don't think these thugs care if the cops have guns or not. If these guys didn't have guns they would not commit as many crimes. These people are cowards and need guns to make them feel strong. Guns don't make crimes rates go up or down. You misunderstood. Cops can have guns, but thugs can get them to practically anywhere, but the average law abiding citizen cannot, so the thug has little to fear.

Was Bruce Lee the best martial artist? Or just the most famous? Was his non form of fighting truly the best? Was he prepared for everything he encountered? Could he have been as great as he was seen?

If he physically touches you ( worth fighting back ) then put him into an arm bar or trip him, maybe a nice punch to his nose. That should stop him from comming back. An example of this is when I was eating lunch and this guy and his goon came up to me and started yelling at me saying names and things ( i am 5'0 18 years old and 140 lbs. so i am short and small, Irish =) ) and anyway I told them to stop and he got mad that i resisted him so he tried to punch me in the face, I side stepped it and flipped him right on his back ( only because I knew his goon would come ) and then i punched his friend in the stomach and tripped him, never a problem since.

Should you ever use high kicks in a street fight? I've read that you should only do it when they are tired or stunned. But this one time a guy came at me in a bar because i turned and looked at him for a second because he yelled something. So I was on the bar stool and he got up and was about 7 feet away when i got off of it and did a stepping side kick to his jaw. This knocked him over into a chair and then he either got knocked out or passed out. But i've never used a high kick to a sober person. So whats your opinion?

What's your guys opinions on how far to take a street fight. For example if a guy standing against a wall walks infront of you and starts yelling at you and pushing you how far should you take it? Punch him, kick him? Choke him out? Run away?
-
maybe kick him in the head as he charges or punch him, or step aside and trip him whatever but it would probably be better to use his momentum against him/her.

I'd just like to know your guys opinions on these things, like which you like to use and why you like to use them. Here's some of my opinions to get this topic rolling. Punching - Works good if well placed but on big tough people like boxers it may not be effective, and it may hurt your hand in the process. Kicking - Good at " long " range fighting and powerful, but unless you kick like the wind then high kicks are useless in a real fight, and it puts you at an unstable position. Low kicks can end a fight quick. Throwing - I think throwing is effective because you use their force against them and minimize the amount of damage done to yourself. And throws on cement or hard ground can leave anyone with borken bones or knock them out cold... Choking - Choking is good once you are in a good position, like a punch to stun them or a kick to knock the wind out of them or a throw to get on them and choke them, but an arm bar may be used in place of a choke or in some occasions may be moved to a choke. Arm Bar - Arm bars are good to stop someone from comming or to discourage them to fight, but if they keep comming you may have to break it, it may sound bad but they are trying to hurt you not just play around. Thanks guys

Hill Billy wrestling isn't a real form of fighting just sortave a phrase. It deals with using your surroundings. Things like slamming them against a wall, or making them run or backup and trip over a curb, push against a tree and things like that. And since I have 3 older brothers and we use to fight alot thats where the hill billy comes in, it toughens you up when you fight everyday, you can take more hits and dish out more. But i'd just like your opinions on this " Hill Billy Wrestling " thanks

I defend a guy this one time when these to guys had thrown him to the ground and were kicking him. I walked up and flipped one of the guys onto the ground as far as I saw it KO him the other grabbed by my collar and wound up, i simply got him in a wrist lock and tripped him on the ground and held the wrist lock. Then the guy who was getting kicked gets up and kicks the guy right in the face twice. So I had to get off the guy I was on and contain the victim.

Your Most Confident Technique

I stick with my trusty one arm shoulder throw, ain't much they can do while on their back in an arm bar, but usually after that I run away because there friends are near by. -
where is your post located?

Yep tree branch good ol' hill billy wrestling style. Use your enviornment like your neighbors mailbox. Ok ok but martial arts teach you forms and technique not just guess and swing so that you know how to handle things, they work for somethings but not all that's I stick with good ol' hill billy wrestling, and having a black belt in judo doesn't hurt any to know how to throw them onto the bar counter =)

Rule # one in a street fight for life or death. Never use fancy or useless things. You want to make your hits count so you can escape. But here's another view at it, it's all a matter of opinion for example, when someone throws a punch at you would you want to block it then punch or kick them ( then a style like karate or any Hard style would be good for you ) but if you would prefer to flip or arm bar them ( judo would be good for you or any grappling art ) then grappling arts would fit you better. It's all a matter of opinion. You do what's best for you and what you are comfartable with. If you don't feel comfartable with striking then don't use but i'm not saying to change your style in a fight, learn an art you like and you feel good about, don't study one that you wouldn't want or have to do.
