  1. I pay $100 CDN a month and I have 2 regular classes, up to 3 optional classes and 1 optional specialty class. A little more pricey than other schools but I definately think it's worth it. We also have no testing fees in our school, but we do have to pay for our belts ($8-10 CDN) and for the board we break.
  2. I saw the Chinese release (with english subtitles) last year and this movie is awesome! So much colour, beauty, story and action. It'll win next years Oscar for best foreign film I bet. I think Tarantino just backed up the money to release it in North America.
  3. I wear them when hitting a heavy bag or when I use my boxing gloves. I have the Everlast wraps. For regular sparring golves I don't bother.
  4. My school: http://www.tongmoodo.com My website: http://www.budderfly.net Martial Arts pics in my gallery: http://www.budderfly.net/gallery/martialarts
  5. It takes about 4 1/2 years minimium to get your 1st Dan Black Belt at my school.
  6. Hello! I live in Richmond BC. Have you lived in Vancouver a long time?
  7. I tried Capoeira for a few months, but I had to stop. It was conflicting with my schedule and I couldn't afford two martial arts. It was fun though. I went here: http://www.achebrasil.com
  8. We call our Grandmaster, Grandmaster Jung or Sir. and his son, who runs the school now, is called Master Joe (Jung) or Sir and all the other assistant instructors are called, Instructor . We also can call them Sir (or Ma'am to the female assistants)
  9. I used bleach once and it faded my patches. So yeah, stay away from those. Spot clean the most troublesome areas right away (neck line, wrist line, underarms) with whatever spot cleaning agent you use and wash in hot water. Hot water is okay for whites, but not for colours or darks. With coloured uniforms, I find giving them a pre-soak with 1 a cup of vinegar, rinse and then a full cycle on their own for the first few washes keep sthe colours looking their best. This also works with new sheets and towels. Another laundry tip: For blue jeans, wash a new pair with an old pair and the older pair will get some of the blue back.

    HAPPINESS

I took the free one month worth of lessons that my club offers 8 years ago, but I couldn't afford it at the time. Almost 4 years ago, I was able to budget the monthly dues and decided to go back. I tried out the free month offer again and signed up after my 3rd class.
  11. Maybe there's different variations then. I've had teppanyaki before too. Also delicious.
  12. Shabu Shabu is where you get a plate of thin slices of raw beef and pork and you cook it in a pot of boiling water in the middle of the table. There's special Shabu Shabu sauce for the pork and the beef gets dipped in Soy Sauce mixed with garlic and lemon juice. You also have spinich too that you cook in the pot and dip in the soy sauce mix. There's also these small stringy Japanese mushrooms you do the same to as well. When you're done the meat, the water in the pot has the meat juices and you add your soy sauce mix. Throw in some udon noodles and now you have Shabu Shabu soup!
  13. http://www.budderfly.net/clips/Comm-GoodTrainingPartner.wmv It speaks for itself.
  14. Anyone eaten Shabu Shabu before? I just had it last weekend and it was so yummy.
  15. Even though I have some students that I would lke to do that too, I don't think it's very nice to publcally humiliate a kid like that. How do the kids/parents react?
  16. I have that for my desktop: http://www.budderfly.net/screenshots/KB2-600dpi.jpg
  17. Yeah, it could be a hairline fracture. I've done that in my hand once. It's hard to tell cause it's so small. Definately see a doctor.
  18. "May I have a glass of water please?" Also like how it was in two volums... Didn't like paying twice to see borh parts. Will definately buy the 2 Vol. Set... Think of the bonus features! There's hardly much on the 1st DVD... maybe they're saving it up.
  19. I loved the movie too, but really if she punched a hold through the coffin, the weight of the fresh soil would crush her. I loved the scene when she was running out of thew graveyard... "May I have a glass of water please?" Still I enjoyed KB2. Can't wait for the 2 Volume DVD to come out.
  20. A friend of my friend's mom wrote this a long tme ago and she sent it in another forum:
  21. We have the "Two Goofy" rule. Goof off once, you get a verbal warning. Goof off twice, and you sit out for the rest of class.
  22. I wear Neoprene ankle "pull on" wraps to keep the joints warm and in turn, less likely to injure. Both my ankle are weaker due to previous injuries and I find these help prevent future ones. Make sure you rotate the ankle joints before class as well.
  23. Still not sure if I'm going to do the demo. If I don't go then the rest of the team can't go on (we all have key parts), but if I do, I might make it worse. My teammates are understanding and we can always do the demo again next month... but I know they were looking forward to it. I am going to the doc tomorrow, just so he can take a look at it.
  24. I think I broke or dislocated my little toe at martial arts class tonight. We were grappling and I'm not sure what happend but my toe went backwards. I thought I broke my toenail off, but when I looked at it and lightly pressed the knuckle part, it "popped" into place and got all purple. No sparring for me on Friday and I have a demo to do on Saturday. I'll just practice Long Staff and the new pattern I'll need to learn when I get my next belt. That should be okay. There isn'tmuch you can do for toes. I've broken my big toe a few times and they've been stepped on by horses. So for now, I'm going to ice it and keep it elevated.
