  1. Hello, Welcome to the voting period for the 23rd annual KarateForums.com Awards! Through these awards, we recognize just a few of the individuals who have made outstanding contributions to KarateForums.com in the past year. You submitted your nominations and, from those, we have our KarateForums.com Awards 2024 nominees. In all, 10 different members have been nominated in the various categories that make up this year's awards. They are @DarthPenguin, @Zaine, @bushido_man96, @Nidan Melbourne, @Wastelander, @aurik, @KarateKen, @Spartacus Maximus, @Montana, and @sensei8! aurik, Zaine, DarthPenguin, and bushido_man96 were nominated in 3 categories, the most of any member, followed by KarateKen with 2. Our historical award numbers have been updated and new milestones have been reached! Congratulations to bushido_man96 on being the first member to reach 65 nominations (most all-time), Zaine and aurik on hitting 10 (now with 12, T8th all-time and 11, T10th all-time, respectively), and DarthPenguin on reaching 5 (now with 6, T18th all-time)! With the ballots crafted, it is now time to vote. What You Should Know Before Voting These awards take into consideration all community activity between October 19, 2023 and October 18, 2024. 2. Hey folks, I just wanted to apologize for the delay here. Everything is ready to go, but when I went to post the polls, I realized that there was no way to hide the results, which I like to do to maintain some suspense, to not influence voting, and so that we have time to audit the results to remove any votes where a member voted for themselves or where a member was not eligible to vote but voted anyway. I am working on finding a solution and am getting close. Thank you for your patience. Patrick

  10. Hello, Thank you for visiting KarateForums.com. We recognize one member every month as the KarateForums.com Member of the Month for their positive contributions to this community. Our honoree for August is... @JazzKicker! Thank you for all of the contributions that you have made over the last 7+ years, JazzKicker! You bring a lot to our community. Thanks, Patrick
  11. Congrats Ken! Thanks for sharing.
  12. That's great, Bob! Happy to hear it.
  13. Thank you for writing this, Brian! It means a lot, and I'm so glad that you found this community so long ago.
  14. Thanks for the question, KarateKen. Yes, the outcome you experienced is what should happen. You can only give one reaction to each post, and the one you select last is the one that will be displayed.
  15. You know, as much as I think Boone struggles to use some of the players optimally, I think a lot of the roster management stuff falls on Cashman. Not trading for more bullpen help at the deadline is a real sticking point.
  16. Nominations are now closed! Thank you to everyone who nominated. Every single nomination made a big difference! I'm excited to post the ballots and open voting. Stay tuned!
  17. Tons of fun! Can someone get Tori out of Robbie's line of sight?! Always here for the Daniel/Johnny team-ups. Daniel's tunnel vision on Miyagi's past was a little frustrating. And how long were they going to let the kids fight it out at the end?
  18. Sorry for your loss, Liam. Thanks for sharing this with us.
  19. It sounds like you mean watching as opposed to playing. If playing, I'd say golf! My Dad has worked in the industry for my whole life, and I've had a club since I could walk. I have not actually played in a few years after I hurt myself hitting a drive on the 2nd or 3rd hole at Pebble Beach of all places (it was a special, once-in-a-lifetime trip, and I got hurt for the first time in my life, ugh). But I want to start hitting balls again! If watching, I'd say hockey!
  20. Belated Happy Veterans Day!
  21. The Dodgers won because they managed their roster like I wanted the Yankees to manage ours the whole year: Ruthlessly. They cut players who were underperforming, they did not endlessly throw ABs and innings at players who played poorly. It feels like Boone mostly clings to players who have the most years of experience, instead of adjusting based on what is currently happening. If they were on the Dodgers, I feel like: Wells would have received more ABs, instead of ceding playing time to Trevino and Narvaez when Wells was hot (to a lesser extent, Boone treated Ben Rice's hot streak similarly) Verdugo would not have played 149(!) games with a .647 OPS LaMathieu would not have played 67 games with a .527 OPS Holmes would have been out of the closer role faster The Dodgers cut James Paxton when he was 8-2 with a 4.43 ERA. It's hard to imagine the Yankees doing that. But these changes would have given us a chance to pick up the few games needed to have home field advantage throughout the playoffs, and may have pushed us over the edge in the World Series. We'll never know. All talent aside, the Dodgers were more aggressive on roster management, and it showed.
  22. Hello, Thank you for visiting KarateForums.com. We recognize one member every month as the KarateForums.com Member of the Month for their positive contributions to this community. Our honoree for July is... @KorroddyDude! It's been great to have you in the community, KorroddyDude! Thank you for all of the contributions that you have made thus far. Thanks, Patrick
  23. No worries! That happens to everyone. I just wanted to mention it in case it was a post that might have been considered missing. Thanks again.
  24. Thank you to those who have nominated thus far! If you haven't yet, please do. This is a great chance to recognize some of your favorites in the community and every ballot counts. I appreciate you taking the time!
  25. Thanks for coming back to confirm that, KarateKen. I also just saw a post you had made on the football thread (either that or the baseball thread) that was meant for the hockey one, so I moved it over there.
