It's a little close to the season, but we're going to give it a shot, anyway, and see how it goes. Team registration is now open. The draft will take place on Sunday, August 31 at 5:15 PM ET. If you would like to join and cannot make the draft, that's perfectly fine. Your team will be auto drafted or you can pre-rank a list, if you would like. There are two requirements for you to be able to join, so please ensure that you meet both of them: 1. You must post on this thread that you are joining. 2. The name of your team in the Yahoo! league should be exactly the same as your KarateForums.com username, so that everyone can tell who you are at the Yahoo! site. So, if your username here is "Patrick", your team name would be "Patrick". If your username is "KarateEd", your team name would be "KarateEd". If either of these requirements are not fulfilled, your team may be deleted from the league. With that out of the way, here are the instructions for joining, if this is your first Yahoo! fantasy football league this season. If you already have a team at Yahoo!, you can skip steps 1-3 and, once signed in, select the "Get Another Team" link under the "Football '08" menu at the top of http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com. 1. Go to http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com. 2. Sign in to your Yahoo! account, if you are not already. Go back to http://football.fantasysports.yahoo.com. 3. In the right menu, under "Football '08," click the blue "Join a League" button. 4. On the left side, click the "Join Custom" button. 5. Enter 492357 as the league ID, kf as the password and press "Save & Continue". 6. Enter your KarateForums.com username as your team name, set the other options as you desire and click "Save & Continue". 7. Review the information to ensure it is accurate, select the check box next to "I have read and agree to the Fantasy Football Terms of Service" and press "Register Now". That's it - you're in! We are looking for at least 8 or 10 teams. If we don't receive at least that many, we may opt to cancel the league. (Guidelines through the KarateForums.com MMA Picks 2009 First Half). Hello, Thank you for your interest in the KarateForums.com MMA Picks competition. When participating, please keep the following guidelines in mind. 1. The fight leagues that we post fight cards from are the UFC, WEC, Affliction and EliteXC. 2. All picks must be posted by 12:00 AM ET on the day of the event as judged by the time stamp on the post. Any picks posted after this point will not be counted. 3. If you skip or fail to select all of the picks for a given event, each skipped pick will be marked as a loss. The same goes for if you accidentally select both fighters participating in the same match. 4. If you would like to change picks that you have already posted, please post the changes in a new reply to the picks thread for the given event. If you do not include all picks from the event, the only picks changed will be the ones that you include in the new reply. The rest of your previous picks will stand. The most recent pick that you make for a given match will be the pick that you are given for said match. If you post your new picks after the deadline for picks, the changes will not be counted. In order to preserve the integrity of the results, post editing is not permitted. 5. For picks to be counted, they must be posted in the designated fight card thread. Please post only picks in the fight card thread for the event specified - discussion should take place in the proper forum. For discussion of MMA matches, please use Martial Arts Entertainment. If you post your picks outside of the KarateForums.com MMA Picks forum, they will not be counted. 6. You are able to pick both the winner of the match and the method they use to win. There are three possible methods: submission, KO/TKO and decision. For the sake of our picks, a knockout (KO) and technical knock out (TKO) are considered the same thing. You are not required to pick in all matches or in both categories, but for the maximum number of points, you are encouraged to do so. 7. The scoring is as follows: a correct winner is worth 3 points and a correct method is worth 1 point. If you ever feel that a mistake has been made in scoring, please contact Rusty (pittbullJudoka) and me with the details, as opposed to posting about it in the forums. It will be investigated and a correction will be made, if appropriate. 8. If a fight ends in a no contest, draw or disqualification, the fight will not be counted. 9. If there is a change to the fight card, we will update it as soon as possible. However, you are responsible for making changes to your picks, as a player. If you pick a fighter that has been replaced, and you do not change the pick, the replacement fighter will be your selection. 10. The person who has the highest points score at the end of an event is considered the winner of that event. There are no tiebreakers, so multiple people can be considered the winner. If an event has less than 3 completed matches in it, there is no winner selected for the event, but the picks and points will still count in the total standings. Events include both the main card and preliminary matches. 11. For the purpose of standings, the year is divided into two seasons: one running from January 1 through June 30 and the other running from July 1 through December 31. Please remember that this is a game and it is for everyone's enjoyment. Please do not take it too seriously.
