  1. Thanks for the replies. I'm not sure what you mean, Lupin1. GeoGiant, No worries, I'm glad to help, don't worry about it. You've pretty much described what we'll expect to be contained in the clip. At the end of the day, you are either using your art in real situations on a regular basis or you are not. If you are, then it shouldn't be too difficult to to record it in some manner or another. I hope that this clarifies any confusion. I appreciate your time and cooperation. Thanks, Patrick
  2. Thanks for the replies all. Toptomcat, No worries. Derwentbob, I'm going to presume your joking. Haha. That was pretty good. That said, this announcement is serious and I hope that you'll be able to submit a video before July 1. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. GeoGiant, Good question. For the sake of this endeavor, I would define "proficient use" as an actual confrontation in a street setting (defined in the initial post) where you ably defended yourself. Not "won," but defended yourself. All of this should be included in the video, of course. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to ask. Thanks again, Patrick
  3. Hello, Thank you for visiting KarateForums.com. We have removed a post from this thread in error. It is included below. I apologize for the confusion. Sincerely, Patrick Shouldn't it be Honbu as written? Compound of two words - Hon = Head and Bu = department ie Headquarters. Its another on of those Bilabial sounds in spoken Japanese Senpai as writted is spoken as Sempai. Chitsu
  4. Edit: This was an April Fools' Day joke. Please read the second announcement for full details. Hello, Thank you for visiting KarateForums.com. As we've grown over the past (nearly) nine years, we've continually noted the importance of martial arts tested in the only arena that matters - the street. This has only become more prominent during the last few years. As such, today, I wanted to share some plans that we have to focus more on these street arts. It's not so much about a particular art as it is about where you've personally tested the art. For this reason, we've decided to validate all memberships on this community on a manual basis, after receipt of a video demonstrating proficient use of your art in the street. If you have not used your art in the street, with video evidence of you doing so, you will not be able to hold a membership here. I realize that this may exclude some people and I apologize for that. But, I see this as a natural evolution of this community. As far as video guidelines go, you will need to be plainly seen in the video. After the fight footage, we'll expect a separate short clip of you holding up a piece of paper with your KarateForums.com username on it. That is why you need to be plainly seen - so that we'll able to verify that you are the same person featured in the flight clip. The definition of street is loose. Pavement, asphalt and gravel are all acceptable. No carpeting of any kind. It cannot be indoors. It must be an actual area with businesses or establishments. It cannot be your backyard, for example. We expect to roll this out slowly. All new accounts from this point forward will be placed into a validation que to await video. All current members will need to submit their videos, but this can be done by July 1. We'll launch some site based facilities soon, to enable the easy uploading of video. But, if you'd like to get a jump on that, you can send your video to me directly at patrick@ifroggy.com. I look forward to seeing the long term effects of this change, which should greatly enhance our community. Thank you for reading and for your support of KarateForums.com. Sincerely, Patrick
  5. Did anyone watch The Simpsons last night? They travel to Israel go on a tour of The Holy Land. The tour guide's daughter handles security for the tour and when Bart steps out of line, she chases him down. He announces that he's doing Karate and then she announces that she's doing Krav Maga. Suffice to say, she handles them pretty dominantly; repeatedly going for the groin.
  6. Welcome to KF, Alaric. Glad to have you. Patrick
  7. Thanks for that. May have to check them out. We have to balance it between having fun and also trying not to have too many games that we don't want our 11 year old brother to see. Hehe. Thanks, Patrick
  8. Cool. Sounds like fun.
  9. http://www.thrfeed.com/2010/03/24-finale-.html http://www.usatoday.com/life/television/2010-03-26-24-series-end_N.htm Really depressed about this.
  10. Thanks for the replies, Throwndown0850. You can't actually do co-op on a single PS3 console online on any of the Call of Duty games (that I know of? I'd love to be wrong). Part of the fun is sitting next to each other and playing against something... some common objective. Completing missions, objectives, killing zombies or opponents, whatever. Does Killzone 2 do that? Thanks, Patrick
  11. Cool, Lupin. I lived about an hour from Boston for 10 years, so that's why I made it to Fenway. What games have you been to, Bob?
  12. lol at the ending being a lie. Haha. But, yeah, I can't wait to see this in person! Hopefully this year. Thanks, Patrick
  13. Hey all, I've been having fun playing first person shooters with my brother on his PS3. We've been playing Call of Duty: World at War and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. We've pretty much played them to the point where we've completed all objectives. And so, we're looking for something new. I'd love to hear your recommendations. Thanks, Patrick
  14. That sounds like pretty good, reasonable advice, Lupin1.
  15. Good luck with your blue belt test, Pajarito21.
  16. Yeah. I've been to 4 games in my life. 2 at Fenway, 2 at the old Yankee Stadium.
  17. Hello, We removed a post from this thread in error. This post is below. I apologize for the confusion. Thanks, Patrick
  18. Welcome aboard, Stephen. Glad to have you. Patrick
  19. Welcome to KF. Patrick
  20. Cool, sounds neat GeoGiant. Being at the upper northeast of North Carolina, Baltimore is the second closest MLB park to me, just a little farther than where the Nationals play. But, even that is 260 miles. Suffice to say, I don't get to many games.
  21. Cool. I thought it was pretty neat how they were so near each other, if I recall correctly.
  22. Thoughts everyone? Thanks, Patrick
  23. Hey krunchyfrogg, just wanted to say it is great to see you again. Hope all is well with you. Congrats on the marriage and baby! Patrick
  24. Welcome aboard, Karatequeen. We have two cats as well as a cat that lives outdoors, but hangs around. I guess he's ours, too. Patrick
  25. You never know, GeoGiant. Anything can happen. That's why they play the games. I was in Baltimore in November and we drove right by the stadiums for the Ravens and Orioles. Looked pretty cool, but I didn't go inside or anything. Patrick
