  1. i like the heavyweights. i dont know why, other than i like that i can feel the weight of the fabric on me. same thing with my sheets on my bed. i like heavy sheets. has nothing to do with warmth, i just like the weight.
  2. yeah man...i know exactly what you are saying. there is most likely is not a school that teachs those styles in your area. i have looked for kendo schools in my area, none exist anyway good luck finding a school, ninjitsu would be a very cool thing to learn.
  3. haha you dirty dirty girl!
  4. kicks and punches need to be used together for most effectivness you know what i find works extremly well? my high hook kick. i have a really good hook kick that whips around really really fast. most people arent expecting it and they end up eating it for lunch.
  5. *ahem* yeah right well back to martial arts lol Ninjitsu (aka Nimpo) a ninja master can kill you without you knowing he is there. sneaky guys, ninjas are. lots of mind tricks(well not the jedi kind). these masters are quick and deadly. they waste no time, assassins do their job effiently and as quickly as possible. krav maga is a nice basic style. some good techniques but nothing most of us have not seen before. it will give you a good workout but there is not much beyond that. the recent popularity is mostly hype.
  6. street fighters are unpredictable untrained fighters. they dont follow any kind of rule, so you had better watch it. another thing- you wont be hopping around and dancing like you do in a sparring match. this guy will probably come in with a huge roundhouse or try to take you down. these guys arent gonna exchange kicks with you, they want you down on the ground so they can do whatever they want to you. you have the advantage of having training and style, but they have the advantage of being unpredictable and style-less. one more thing- alot of poeple train in martial arts. however, this does not mean they are ready for a real fight. alot of time martial arts does not prepare you for the arenaline rush or the freeze action and tunnel vision that alot of people get when adrenalized. you need to take one of those Fast Defence courses to understand better.
  7. i would definetly recomend soundtrack from action movies and such. one of my favorites for creating fight sets and katas is the matrix soundtrack. also, older soungs work well because of the general lack of cursing and unacceptable subjects, ect...
  8. I have arrived! a lil about me- im a black belt in kenpo, a lil bit of kung fu and judo training on the side. i practice with some weapons, mainly the kwan dao, broadsword and butterfly swords.
  9. haha cool, double fans! from expiriance, its hard (for me) to learn somthing entirely from video.
  10. i looked at the pic of the "two handed broadsword". this is also known as the "pudao" or "horse cutter" and i beleive it is a chinese weapon used mainly in Wushu Kung-Fu. just my 2 cents
  11. yes! cool show, but i only like the ones on medieval weaponry. they should do some on asian weapons. man i always forget what time it is on at though
  12. hey this is my first post here at karate forums does anyone here practice strange or rare weapon styles? here is a list of the weapons i have trained with so far- samurai sword butterfly swords wushu broadsword nunchuks bo, staff and...the big guy himself, the Kwan Dao anyone else here train with the kwan dao? mine is a huge one almost 8 feet from tip to spear end and it must weigh a ton! but i dont even notice that anymore, the thing gets you strong fast.[/b]
