  1. I'd have to say that the movie's "Revenge of the ninja, Ninja3 the Domination and Enter the nija inspired me. By the time I was six yrs old,I had my own ninja uniform and weapons to go along with it. I also was blown away by watching the Sunday Kungfu matinee that was on t.v at the time. I also really loved sidekicks with Ernie Reyes jr/ the last electric knight. By the time I was seven, I had tayght myself how to stick sharpened number two pencils in the drywall of my bedroom without breaking the lead. I all went from there.
  2. I would have to say no. I don't think it should become an olimpic sport. If bjj became a o-sport,than every ma should have it's place in the olimpics....why you ask, because there is not a ma that is better than one another. If bjj was allowed, than why not all other ma's. who say's that bjj is better than the other. Not to mention that the would screw that whole system up.Before you know it, it probably wouldn't even resemble the true system. Just my opinion.
  3. I liked it. I thought it was a very interesting book to read.
  4. I recommend learning a japanese form of Jujutsu. As a police officer, I can tell you that there is isn't any one system of MA that is going to be more useful than one another. It is best to have a working knowledge of a little of everything. It really depends on the situation that the police officer encounters. Most law enforcement personnal will keep a safe distance until he or she has to go hands on and remember, police officers are not paid to fight fair . Is comfortable as I am with my MA technique, 90 percent of the time I can avoid a physical confrontation but the other ten percent... I will use whatever force nessecary to stop a physical or life threatening situation. Its's called "totality of the circumstances"= circumstances dictate tatics. Whatever force you choose to use against a police officer, the police officer is authorized to use one step higher of force to maintain control of the situation. This is called the "control superiority rule". A man punches you-you use your OC spray or baton,A man has a stick or club of some sort and tries to hit you- and know you can hit him with 50,000 volts from a taser or you ultimatly can use your firearm to end the conflict. Eventually, you will end up on the ground with someone or even standing up fighting so find somthing to train in no matter what it is. It all will benefit you at some point in your career. All I know is my number one goal is to come home safe every night and i'll do whatever it takes for me to accomplish that goal.
  5. Anyone going to go see the Amityville horror remake? I personally don't think that it is going to be as good as the original. Remake are rarely as good as the first, but i'll still go see it anyway.
  6. Mine is simple, it's my last name. ghostly, thats a pretty cool profession your in to. How did you get involved with somthing like that? I have always found that sort of thing very interesting. Have you ever witnessed anything out of the ordinary before?
  7. I would have to say, Tekada sokaku, benny the jet, bruce lee, ryuho okuyama or maybe steven seagal. It is hard to say, considering their are so many amazing teachers out there or that have exsisted at one point or another.
  8. I like most of the bands that you posted but there are so many other bands out there that I like also. Anything heavy. I love death metal mainly, but I listen to alot of other music as well.
  9. Welcome to the forums MuayThaiFan! Looking forward to your posts and good luck with your training.
  10. I love judo. I found that after you get your ukemi(falling) down, it seems to be more enjoyable with every class.
  11. Ten or so times,huh?
  12. Italian_guy, congrads on your thousandth post. Pretty impressive. I don't think the forums play too much of a role in my daily life. I don't say that as a bad thing, I just have my own opinions about things and I like to just get other peoples opinions. It is nice to hear about where other people are coming from. I think the beauty of the forums is that everyone can express their own opinion about MA's and learn from one another without being judged. There is no right or wrong awnser, only an opinion. I also think that this site has become very successful in connecting so many different people from all over the world. A lot of friends have been made and martial arts connections as well. I think that for the most part, everyone seems honest with eachother and thats a rarity on the internet these days. There are so many people joining this site everyday and I think it will just continue to get bigger. This is a great site and I look forward everyday to replying to new and more interesting posts.
  13. Try looking for anything on the net about Tessenjutsu. iron fan system. You might be able to locate some information on where to purchase an authentic pair or find someone that can bulid you what you want.
  14. I never knew that. I learn something new here everyday, this is awesome!
  15. I really don't care about what other people think . As long as you know what your talking about (in a MA sort of way), then there is no reason to have to prove yourself to others. Their the ones that will enevitablely underestimate you on the street and ultimatly, will suffer the consaquences. ( sorry, im a bad speller.lol).
