  1. Advertising is the correct way to go. You have to get your name out there and spend some bucks doing it. And as you go looking for new students you have to make sure that you are giving your current students the instruction they need because the best advertisement you will find is word of mouth.
  2. Just wondering if there was any certified personal trainers on here and where you got your credentials.
  3. P- Praise C- Correct P- Praise Don't always try to find things that the student is doing wrong. Maybe their kick sucks but they have their hands up. Tell them good job on keeping the hands up then give them a quick correction on their kick then tell them good job again. Also, yes you kind of need to be yourself when you teach but just like learning new kicking and striking techniques you need to learn different teaching styles. You will always find someone who can put anther spin on teaching that you never thought of. I guess this is where you put your own personal saying to make everyone go "Hmm" . "The style a person learns doesn't matter if they don't have a clue as how to apply it."
  4. We have our STAR team. Student Teacher Assistants and Role models. They are the younger students who can't teach a class by themselves but can help the instructors by holding pads and motivating the other students. We have some great kids who have taken to it very well. We see it as developing students to become instructors early on because just putting a black belt on someone doesn't make them a good instructor.
