That awkward moment when
TheGrim123321 replied to TheGrim123321's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
What I did was more dumb, than awkward, however, in the aftermath of it, I felt quite awkward for having done something so, well, stupid... http://www.karateforums.com/the-day-i-knocked-myself-out-vt36200.html?highlight=head+roof After 50 years, I've had my share of awkward and aha and stupid and then some moments. Some I vividly remember, and others, well, I'd rather forget them. That is absolutely HILARIOUS!!! It seems so ENTER THE DOJO !!! ROFL...I wish that it was an episode from Master Ken...but...it's not!! My nick name at my dojo is Master Ken, because the main thing I target is the groin. -

I'm sure that many of us, if not all of us, at one time or another, whether they want to admit to it or not, have done that exact same thing!! Aye, one to many times in my case. -

Pressure Points, Dim Mak, and more...
TheGrim123321 replied to darksoul's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
I agree with mostly everybody. In a real street situation your first priority should be to kill or disable your attacker. You should not be thinking "Ok when he punches, i'll put my finger there" I don't think pressure points are any good they relie to much on thinking, that being said I have seen some people that can "One touch KO people in a second". Also your averaged angry person would ignore the pain. When you fight you should let muscle memory and instinct take over. (This is my opinion) Osu -
OSU! I train in Kyokushin and I bought a Heavy 100% cotton gi from Century. Our dojo gets 50% from century so thats what we chose. I find 100% cotton is pretty good.

It was the last 30 minutes of class, so me and my Sensei were sparring. After about a minute in he gets me with a take down. So were on the ground I manage to buck and roll to get to his guard. As I start to transfer for guard to side control his leg catches my Gi pants, As some of you know after an 1 and 30 minutes of practice your pants can get lose. So my pants come right off. Lucky I were shorts under my Gi. So me and my Sensei continued sparring while the 3 other students laughed. Has this happened to anyone else. Please share your stories.

The town I live in has 500 people. Theres only one dojo and it came here not so long ago. This is my only option to train theres only one sport at my school and its baseball. So I dont care if he qualified or not. Im becoming a fighting machiene.

About him not being qualified his primary student has won Nationals 3 times. My sensei has won countless fights. And that dojo is the only place within a 6 hour drive were I can train. And theres only 3 kids in my class me the girl and a guy the rarley ever goes. Theres a brown belt and my sensei.

Sparring Tips
TheGrim123321 replied to FangPwnsAll7's topic in MMA, Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing, and Competitive Fighting
When you spar your opponent shouldn't be going full super sayin on you. Sparring is there to practice technique if you need to go slower just say to your partner "Hey can we go a bit slower im working on applying technique(Bunkai)". Your instructor and your partner will understand. Trust me for 2 months I was beaten the destroyed in sparring. Then I asked to go slower 4 months later and I'm top of the class. ~Grim
