  1. Again, I woudl talk to the instructor. Although people like that make me.... mad..... and then some. To be completely honest with you, if someone was trying to HURT me on purpose at practice... I would do something bad to that guy. Kinda like at football practices.. when guys would try to chop block my knees... before practice ended they always ended up with a gripload of knee in there crotch to remind them not to do that again. But yes, talk to your instructor.. maybe your instructor can talk to him.. OR maybe your instructor can use him as his main practice goon when he shows new moves LOL... thats always good =). Nick
  2. Ninjamaster, Do not draw the comparsion that since one guy you know can spar with lennox lewis all MT can be boxers. Yea, your right, alot of MT and kickboxers start doing amateur boxer, wanna know why you dont ever see them on PPV's, or on the ranking ladders, or on TV... because there not good at it. Sure, they may be able to make a small name for themselves in the junior amateur circuit, but there is where they will stay. In fact, Most Kickboxers and MT guys dont even do that well there.
  3. Is Jae Hoon your real name?
  4. So, your telling me that there is more then thai shin conditioning that seperates it from other MA's? To get the amount of shin conditioning that many Thai Boxers have.. takes a very long time as you already know TJS. Over in Thailand, my frined from the Navy went to watch alot of the local Thai Fights. He said that alot of fights ended up with the kickers kicking shin to shin, seeing who would give up first... but alot of emphasis is played onto there shin strength etc etc.... something that not everyone wants to do or could do. I cant imagine punishing my body, shins etc etc like they do, and having to get up and go to work the next day lol.. in thailand, when they train, that is there work. Now, if there is more to the devestating kicking power of Thai boxer, I want to know. I always like researching new information.
  5. TJS, Did you not pay attention? I said do not make excuses after I said all of that.. I knew going back and forth with JJF about kimura and Severn would get no where, so it was best to just acknowledge the fact that they lost. As for Severn underestimating him... how would any of us know if he did or didnt? Does it even matter at this point? Nick
  6. Where are you from? and how old are you? Just wondering.
  7. Jae... He was probably asking for two reasons. #1 He may not know all that much about the other arts.. he may be new. #2 Alot of instructors ADD a belt ranking system or something similar to there training to gauge the progress and level of expertise of the student. So, maybe he knows of a couple of MT gyms that use a belt system, or a sash system, etc etc.
  8. Now, MT is an awesome art, partly in part to the tremoundous amounts of physical conditioning they do. If you would take someone, from lets say TKD, and condition his shins to be like iron, and condition his feet much like Iron Palm trainin... That would be just as dangerous.... Kicks are Kicks.. no matter if its from MT or TKD.
  9. Two things I see wrong with that Jae. First, you said get in close?? Get in close... get in striking distance? Anyone.. please do not attempt that... if you move in close to a boxer.. he will pummel you... and make you think twice about it. Boxers.. are close quarter fighters. The closer they are to you, the better for them,, until you starting hanging all over them... even then though, they punch your back in your kidneys. As for doing an angle kick.. are you assuming doing a angle to the head?? Boxers have tremoundous head guard... you would be better off moving in close (if you made it that far) and kickin his knee cap or giving him a blow to his groin. Once again.. please.. please, unless your a boxer, or a member of Juko kai, do not move in close to out strike a boxer lol. Nick D.
  10. I know Johnny, I was just quoting Grandmaster Choe. Been in enough fights in my life to know that when you get adrealine and endorphins coursing through your body... becomes kinda hard to focus and worry about techniques lol.....
  11. I would have to say, in reference to BJJ,if i ever got to the ground, with no grappling knowledge... I would be a lil....hmm.. a lil...like "OHhhh Shi.....NOOOO" LOL. Nick
  12. First, I do respect his opinion, as I would hope he respects mine. Respecting one's opinion doesn't always mean that that person is right. We were tossing around scenarios of what would happen in a street fight and conditions. As for this thread turning into a TKD vs BJJ thread...yes, it is developing into that, unfortunately. Anyways, Thank JJF for pointing out the negativity that is starting in this thread. Nick
  13. Creed guy is hiding something!! What if.......What If... Creed Guy is a Kung Fu master.....nahhh he'll probably just hit him the head with a guitar...or he will try to lull him into a coma by singing to him
  14. Do not make excuses. Gracie Lost. Get over it. You can throw whatever variable you want in there, bottom line is, he lost. Just like severn lost... I could make excuses for him, but that day, gracie was the better man. Calling me ignorant? Come on JJF.. why am I ignorant? Becuase I said dont make excuses for why someone lost? LOLOLOL Nick D.
  15. According to the USMC, and other military authorities, as well as research, when a choke is applied correctly, it will about 5 seconds for the person to black out. Amazing isnt it? That quick. Juko Kai trains you to fight through that though. I was watching a show on Discovery, that showed Juko Kai Style MA, and they wraped a rope around a guys neck... and both of the people pulled back with all there weight... basically strangling the guy.. but they are trained to increase there neck strength and to focus... and much to my dis-belief.. this guy did not pass out after 5 seconds, instead he DRAGGED them for about 15 yards before they stopped. LOL.. AMAZING. Nick
  16. KoreanTiger81, Let me be completely honest with you KoreanTiger. Alot of what people say here should be taken with a grain of salt. Everyone thinks there style is the best, everyone thinks they have a counter to everything. Everyone thinks.. ohh to take a kicker down, all you have to do is this and that. The real truth is Koreantiger, you should never underestimate your opp never matter what style he/she is. Underestimating is a sign of ignorance and arrogance...both weaknesses. It is one thing to have pride in your style, it is another thing to think your style is the best. You will find alot of people have these easy fix all answers to something. As for stopping a kick.. hey, i am sure kickers have had there fair share of being taken down.. just like every art, I am also sure that some JJ guys have been on the recieving end of a Judo throw, or a Karate fist to the sturnam, or a Hapkido counter, or a TKD kick to the head.......Part of the philosphy in alot of MA's, is that you have to look at your opp as if he was on the same lvl as you, if you over-estimate him, you will be fearful, if you underestimate him, you will take him lightly. If you are really quick on your feet Koreantiger, and can recognize someones movements, you can react to it, and have a 50/50 shot at avoiding, or stoping the attacker. As for people saying Strikers always think they can take someone down with one shot..... i agree that that is not always the case, just like JJ fighters can ot always take someone to the ground. Can strikers have lethal kicks and punches?? Absolutely! Strikers, when trained, do not just throw or kick anywhere to the body, they SHOULD try to target a certain area, for example, areas that have pressure points, areas that are weak (IE: Sturnam, Solar Plexus, Collar Bone, Bridge of Nose, Side of Throat, Just below Adams Apple in throat, Tailbone, Floating ribs, Kidneys, etc etc) Scoring a powerful blow or two in those areas can, and most of the times do take someone down. Some MA's, also do not take the t ime to research other MA's, they just go off of what there instructor says or what other people tell them, or there own limited perception of what they think the MA is. That is why you have so many people saying TKD and karate suck... only because alot of people say it.... so they draw the same perception, or because they had a bad exp at a McDojo, or because they fought someone who studied that art and they weren't good. Lets face it, I can say the same thing abotu any other art.. Alot of people diss Aikido, even though at higher lvls, Aikido is AWESOME against many many other arts. So, if you want to become a better fighter, I suggest you go and pick up some books on other styles and read it... heck, have a friend help you with some of the moves... to get a better understanding how the mechanics of the style works. You will also hear alot of people draw on comparions about the UFC and PrideFC and how MMA guys get whooped. Ok, maybe so, but I have seen JJ guys whooped by Strikers, I have seen Wrestling guys whooped by JJ. To see one or two matches, is not valid enough to draw a line and say, This style sucks and this style rules. I had a talk with 9th Degree TKD and Hapkido Grandmaster Sun Tok Choe, about this pride fighting stuff... and why he wouldnt fight in it.. just conversation, and he replied that when he watches it, there form is not refined, there sloppy. They look good, because they are fighting against other sloppy opp's. He also went on to say that he does not need to prove that he is what he is, he knows he is and so does his students. He said the time for me to show what I can do, is in a situation when my life depends on it, as the Martial Arts trained me to do... Self Defense. Truly, Martial Arts were made... mainly for Self Defense and to protect the peace and innocent. (ON a side note, I have much respect for the fighters of UFC.... it takes a special kind of person to climb into the octagon and willingly take a beating lol) The point of the conversation was Koreantiger, once again, when people make reference to the UFC and how there art is awesome, just look at PrideFC etc etc... take it with a grain of salt, as 9th Grandmaster Choe basically told me. Nick
  17. I never said a Kickboxer cant box.. what i said, was, Kickboxing can not.. and will not punch as good as boxing. Kickboxing has punches.. and kicks.. which means they need to devote time to both to increase the skill.. they have techniques for both which means they have to learn more.. boxing is just punch and the techniques that go along with it. If a kickboxer tried to outbox a boxer, it would be over before you knew it. I have watched wayyy to many kickboxing matches and saw some horrid boxing attempts at each other... that is why I draw this conclusion. Nick.
  18. Well, come on Johnny, Unless your a fool, you would try to find a more optimal situation to fight in, maybe outside? If someone was giving me heat, TKD or no TKD.. I would not fight in a small space... unless of course, as yOu said, I was a trained grappler> I entice him to follow me to a more open area.. people can still be around.. but at least there would be more room to move around.
  19. WOW TOM, that website has incredible information on it lol.... people dont give the USMC enough credit when it comes to hand to hand combat... those guys are sick and devious lol. have you actually read the manuel Tom?? Simple moves in there.. but after reading how to use them... man... you could stop someone COLD in seconds. lol. Very useful for street combat. Nick.
  20. My deepest Apologies Tom. Now, if you were to use bear claws, (weapon) you could block a slashing sword attack.. if you were quick....VERY quick. Nick.
  21. Good Answer
  22. As far as Severn losing... He was past his prime. Severn did not fight like he did when he was younger, and that is fact. As he aged... he became more of a brute fighter... kinda like Tank Abbott. except more versatile and technical. As I said, I would have liked to see that fight with both in there prime.. As for gracie losing... the bottom line is, he lost. Just as JFF pointed out to me when gracie beat Severn. I mean, really, lets face it... why make excuses.. Severn lost, fair and square... and Gracie lost, fair and square... no excuses lol. As for Greco Roman not knowing submissons... I would like to see someone get slammed on there head... or suplexed onto something harder then a mat lol.. and freestyle greco roman does incorporate Some submissons....usually they require the attacker to get on top.. Nick
  23. hmmm... not sure then why someone would w ant to get dirtnapped. Nick
  24. I seriously question the credibility of someone who just shows up saying they can this amazing feat, they can do that amazing feat, how there gonna dominate some kind of federation blaza blaza blaza.... if he can really do that... great... good for him... reminds of people who come on here saying that have been taught Koga Ryu Ninjitsu, and they can catch swords with there bare hands.. and they know how to jump from 20 feet up in the air from a tree... lololol Nick
  25. I see your point Johnny about being a crowed club... but not every fight is in a crowded club.
