  7. iamrushman, you should always show respect, nomatter what mood you are in, coz if people catch you in a bad mood, and you dont show respect, they may not like you and they may not show respect to you Ang
  8. As i said before I have ALOT of respect for other people, my goal is to gain the respect of others, thats all i was saying! Ang
  9. Ken, who said you have to injure people for karate to be real? karate is NOT about injuring people, its about learning how to protect yourself against people who try to injure YOU, not about how much damage you can do to someone else!!!! and as for being a serious student, whats the point in training if you dont take it seriously!!!! you can only be a true student if you are dedicated to what you are learning, dont just learn to show off to other people!!!. A Serious martial arts student Ang
  10. My brother, Stephen, also known as Winterkarate, his goal is to beat everybody's score in gradings and i told him as long as he tries his best he will be the best, getting the highest score is just an added bonus! Ang.
  11. Hey sensei, I think if you change style, you should strart over because you are learning new stuff, like different things, like in wadaru there are shadowed stances and in shotokan there are deep stances, the gradings would be alot different, say a green belt in wadaru, kept their green belt and graded purple in shotokan, you may fail them because of their different techniques and shorter stances, also the katas which are more or less new to them, they would learn different ones in different orders, which may confuse them. thats why we(me + krystina) think they should start from white. Ang + Krys .
  12. Tobias, as always i think you are right, Karate isnt all about fighting, its about self defence and having different views and ways of life, my view of life has changed since i started karate and met you lot ang
  13. Sparring IS very important, but i think the self defence is MORE important, then learn how to kick ass!! ang
  14. My goal is to get as far as i can in shotokan and kobudo, and to gain the respect of others by being the best i can be ang
  15. just because we have a joke about in class, we never show disrespect in our classes.<<----written by tobias reece, Tobias is right, I am one of Tobias's students, and we do sometimes joke about in class, but we take in our teachings seriously, take for instance last night's class, we were dealing with muggings and rape, we ALL took that seriously and we will be continuing the subject. We ALWAYS SHOW RESPECT Ang.
  16. My favorite kata is Bassai dai because it was the first one i saw one of my favourite People perform at full speed and i know most of the kata myself, its really good. the name also means something, storm of the dark castle, speaking of names, my favourite kata for the name (as Jim Reece knows) is WANKAN, i havent seen the kata yet but still....
  17. oops same message twice!!!
  18. I agree with tobias (be quiet people who know me well!!) Karate has also now become My way of life, It makes me think before i do ANYTHING. I also did not train in karate, (as i still am training obviously) to become a fighter, i started because i thought it would be fun, although it is fun, karate is above that now, as it is above me, it is not a sport, i play alot of sport, Karate is more, Karate is life, not just somewhere that you go to fight that comes as a bonus, as Tobias pointed out Karate has now become a large part of my life, just as my senseis and my fellow students(oh my god i sound like my dad ""fellow students""!) have become part of me. Ang

  20. a black belt is someone who never gives up, some one who has a black belt should show respect to others, but respect themselves, never back down and NEVER give out a weak point, Black belts should gain the respect of others by showing respect, not showing off, all black belts i know personally, have my respect ang
