  1. http://www.jkdlondon.co.uk/ Does anyone know this school? Thanks, Peter
  2. There is a difference between Jeet Kune Do Concepts and Jeet Kune Do Jeet Kune Do Concepts has a solid basis (Jun Fan Kung Fu) that consists of a solid curriculum. After that has been learnt you ad elements from anything you want if it fits into the Jeet Kune Do principles. Although most principles are still broken in the Concepts way of thinking. The Concepts people also missunderstand the phrase "Having no Limitation as Limitation." They think Bruce meant going fluidly into any fighting distance. The 5 fighting distances (kicking-,boxing-,infight-,throwing-,grappling- range) are an invention of Dan Inosanto! Do not get me wrong I like the Jeet Kune Do Concepts approach alot! Jeet Kune Do means with beeing fluid that you do not have a set approach in your mind to any situation and that you simply react without thinking but with a consoius mindset. That is also the explanation for the phrase having no limitation as Limitation. Beeing fluid also means that you do not say things like "You attack, I block the attack and then attack you." That would be totally wrong. One principle of Jeet Kune Do is "No passive moves" which means that you should not block an attack without attacking at the same time." Something Bruce took from Wing Chun. But do not think that the principles are dogmatic rules. So you can break them if it helps to find your own expression through the martial way! For Bruce the individuall was the most important factor not the martial art/method. Hope I could help.

  7. Hi guys, I am seriously thinking of quitting my wing chun training and starting jkd. The only proper school in my city, has only got classical jkd though. I mean in classical jkd the system only had a few years to evolve right? I am thinking of changing to jkd because I like the foot work much more and the boxing stance. what do you guys think i should do? a. stay with wing chun b. go to jkd thank you
  8. exactly bullies always try to pick the weakest. If you give him a run for his money, he probably wont pick you anymore.
  9. You made the (in my eyes) right decision. I wish you lots of success!
  10. Its like learning two different languages from the beginning at the same time. You will mix up alot and it will take longer to learn for you. If you have a solid basic vocabulary, then its the best time to start to learn a second language. So get at least a good solid basis in shotokan. That basis starts, when you just react and dont think about the moves you do. If the basic moves are part of your reactions then go and start.
  11. I just now got the book Five Rings. I hope it helps.
  12. Ive been doing Wing Chun for two years this June aswell. I really have the feeling that my coordination with only using my hands is not my talent. I think that I would be much better at Grappling. But I have trained for two years now and did loads of expensive grade test. But I just feel that Wing Chun is not for me. I really would like to have some more intense training like muay thai mixed with Grappling.
  13. I can really feel with you. I was a REAL dork when I started my Wing Chun training. I was so much worse and unconcetrated than the others. I think I have got much better now.
  14. If you give in everytime someone is assaulting your honor or physical self badly, then you are practicly assaulting yourself. It is always important to protect one self either verbally or phsysicaly. I prefeer the first option. Of course there are cases where you have to stand over it. Like when some kid insults you or something. Thats just my opinion though
  15. I totally agree with that ravenzoom. Lots of Wing Chun newbies have got false confidence at the beginning.
  16. Agreed. Also it depends what suits you more. And where the training is harder.
  17. Hi guys About a year ago wasnt there a fight between some Indian guy who did Wing Chun against some Karate fighter? (K1 Fight) The Wing Chun guy lost in the end though. Anyone remember the fight and if yes can you tell me if there is a video or some data available about that? thanks
  18. you need the proper mindset for it. check your surroundings and try to only face on person only. it surely is possible though. but very, very hard my friend.
  19. Scand thats the reason I will never want to instruct in my entire life.
  20. wing chun kuen good: - reachable withing 3-5 minutes by bike. - high quality instructor. - very indepth in technique - It is possible for me to train for 12,75 hours a week - The Youngest is 17. Average age is about 24-27 not so good: - sparring and training is to soft for my needs
  21. About two months ago just after training ended and we where getting changed. I was just about to get my ball protectors off. i was to lazy to bend down after pushing them down to my feet so i try to kick them up into my hands. unfortunatley when i kicked them, they flew three metres over me and on the head of a bald headed guy I mean they fitted perfectly on his head. the side straps landed exactley around his ears It looked like as if he was wearing a supid hat so funny...
  22. the rebels who developed wing chun used the left hand as a fist. to secretly greet each other and show their identity to each other.
  23. for more strength regarding the one inch punch you must train your wrist. place your wrist vertacly infront of you with your top two knuckles beeing the knuckles that are most foward.thrust your fist into the front and try to bring your bottom three knuckles infront through using your wrist.thats the main secret. by the way try that on a bag 200 times a day and in 6 months you see first results...
