  1. now that is a good question lol I honestly think if the U.S ruled out belts there would be a significant drop in practitioners in MA. But if you think about it without the belt system the MA industry would prolly get better dedicated Practitioners instead of lazy practitioners who want to look and feel cool.
  2. as a young child I cant lie, I have fantasized about getting a black belt but that's not why I started, when I started I didn't even know they had belts I was almost 5 years old. I started because I wanted to protect the ones I loved. By age 7 I was an orange belt in TKD and at this age I kind of learned in a weird way that there are lazy people in all belt ranks so it doesn't matter what belt you wear it matters about you. I learned this because there was this green belt way back then who I guess enjoyed rubbing it in peoples faces that he was a green belt and was talking down to people who were lower ranks and kept trying to boss people around that he wasn't given permission or authorized to boss around, so this went on for a couple of days and I finally stood up and for a couple of weeks tried to do the right thing and tell on him, we both got in trouble for disrupting class and a couple days after, he had secretly hit me in class granted I was Mad! but I felt I couldn't tell without getting punished for it and funny thing is: someone saw him and told for me and when the sensia called for sparring he put me up against the green belt and announced to the entire class that the green belt and I had a problem with one another and that he suggest full contact to settle this and that if he ever hears from our drama again he will kick us both out of the dojo because we will distract the class from progressing so I fought him and not only did I win with less techniques but later a friend of mine who knew both of us said I broke one of his ribs, because after the fight he walked away in tears and he never returned to the dojo after that. so just because you know more techniques doesn't mean your better by default it's how dedicated you are to those techniques that makes you a good practitioner of MA and MMA.
  3. ok I don't have a big family but the problem I seem to run into when it comes to eating healthy, my mom gets home late and she never feels like cooking so we often wind up with take-out and if its really late she tends to buy alot of heat and eat microwave things, and this kinda irritates me a bit cuz my body winds up paying for it in the weight room or whilst training My mom does have Two understandable defenses tho witch I hate to admit and that is: Healthy Quality Food Costs More and I don't get home till 8 P.M and yes I have went to the store with my mom and she has showed me all throughout krogers, walmart ect.....that this is true and I kinda think it's sad and jacked up that we live in a world wear we can get 12 donuts for 3$ yet bagels are 4.50$ for just 6 I have asked some of my health nut friends at school and even some of my adult health nut friends and they bring up that there is cheap health food you just gotta know wear to find it and knowing how to cook helps alot because they tell me that if your going to be healthy it's really more about shopping for fresh ingredients weather then searching for pre-made things and knowing how to cook teaches you how to make alot out of a little. So, My question is, What are some Quick and Easy Good Health Dishes You Guys Like to make?, I say quick and easy cuz I don't really like watching food slowly turn and smell Delicious. I'm impatient when it comes to cooking.
  4. ok to be more specific , and now that I think about it this is prolly cuz when I train I don't stretch as much due to not knowing that many stretches, I only know like: straddle stance, trunk twists(these always crack my back) toe touches while sitting thats really it but I just realized I have been neglecting them in my training, I usually just go outback and go through my kata's when I train and I always keep in mind when doing these Kata's , Focus, Balance, Power, and Control. back when I was...more inspired to train (long Story if u wanna know the details go to the post, Alone, located in MA in general) I remember doing everything as it was done in class when my dojo had been relocating. I do stretches, warm up with some push-ups, jumping jacks, dance kicks, and punches while in a low horse stance and then go straight into kata's and didn't stop till I did each one I knew at least 3 times. but even then my limbs sometimes popped not nearly as much as it does now tho.
  5. I wouldn't say hyper extension just, you know how some people's knuckles pop?.....like that. also sometimes a weird thing is, is sometimes it pops and it feels like I got zapped in that limb and those hurt.
  6. ok every time I practice my martial arts, kata, punching, kicking ect..... my limbs pop be it my wrists, knees, elbows, ankles, back. they always pop when I start training......is this a bad thing or will it be a bad thing in the future???
  7. Domo Arigata It seems your life episode makes me seem like I'm whining lol and I'll admit I am a little bit but for the most part no I'm not see my main problem is I have to concentrate on adult essentials be4 I can get back into an actual dojo without it costing my mother money and it costing my desired future, granted we are stable with our house now but asking my mother for things has always struck me with guilt even be4 the eviction, I've always been that way seens how I matured at a young age due to the horrible environment my childhood was wasted on. my goal in life is to be a : privet music teacher/martial arts instructor I want to fuse these jobs together but I desire the college backround to show parents and children that I'm not some guy who talks alot of hot air.

  9. thx all for advise, I do have to add I have gone down the route of book reading but what I got going down that road was pages full of telling me how many degrees I should move my hands and feet and I could,t really figure out where my hands or feet were actually supposed to go much less what body muscle's I was supposed to use when the techniques were performed. On a side note the philosophical side of martial arts displayed in books is both amazing and vary confusing I read books like , The Doa of Jeet Kun Do, TKD Books, Aikido Books, Matsubayshi Books even Hapkido and they all had Techniques that were intresting to me but couldn't rap my head around weather I had truly been performing to techniques right. As for the Philosophical side of MA, some of it I understood and liked about the Philosophies of MA, and some I either felt like the information I was reading was contradicting itself or it just didn't make sense to me and I didn't know how to find the truth without asking a grand master or something. for example: I read The Doa of Jeet Kun Do some of what Bruce lee said made alot of sense but as I kept reading it, I felt it began to contradict itself and it frustrated me so much cuz I just wanted to understand. He would explain the aspects of, "empty your mind" then later I find out he meant empty your mind of absolutely everything, no happy thoughts no sad thoughts, no fearful thoughts no emotion no thoughts what so ever??? but then I began to think......wouldn't that take away from artistic form of MA because in his interviews and in his books he also explains martial arts should be a combination of Science and Art. Art is nothing without emotion or expression how would one be able to express him or herself as a fighter with no emotion behind them???
  10. I need a bit of advise, I love Martial Arts. I have been involved ever since I was 4 years old taking TKD for 6 years and having to move by age 10 to get out of a not so healthy environment for kids to live in. Anyway by age 15 I convinced my mother to get me back into martial arts so long as it's a totally different style from the one I started in, I did my research and fell in love with Shorin Ryu. I did this style for 2 years and got up to orange belt until the bad economy hit and they had to relocate. my sensai had assured me that the relocation wouldn't be that far away from my house. (had to walk a half hour up there and was more then willing to walk.) He told me that the dojo would be back up in running in no time and to keep sharpening my skills. Unfortunately alot of unjustifiable things happened shortly after this like finding out my family and I was getting evicted shortly and none the less I trained alone, Kata's , Yakusoko drills, Techniques all in hopes that everything will get better and it did for the most part we found a place up in reynoldsburg, house is awsome and we were only homeless for 2 weeks but martial arts is a big part of my life almost as much as music is and since my mother can no longer afford martial arts lessons and barley any music lessons (I'm thankful for what she can dish out for me) I have been training alone in martial arts and music practically since age 17 I am 19 years old now ever since age 18 I have become a baby adult lol trying to put priorities be4 personal interests, trying to get car, license, saving for collage, I'm tired of relying on my mom this makes me feel guilty witch is why I got a mulching job shortly after my 18th birthday getting 60$ a week. I guess what I'm trying to ask is "how does someone cope with just being cut off of something they love doing ? I mean sure I love martial arts but doing it alone almost leaves no room for learning, sure I can practice kicks like there's no tomorrow but martial arts is 90% mental and 10% physical, it's all about the mind, little of martial arts actually has to do with the body and I feel like i'm losing that aspect of martial arts when I train alone plus with noone to train with it's getting super boring cuz there's nothing to learn training alone.
