I practice my art(Hapkido) for the peace it grants me, the confidence it gives me, the love of the style, to teach my daughters to defend themselves, the fitness of practicing and the Daywalker needs to stay fit because they do exist.
I agree with what everyone has said so far. Also if you do any running for cardio stretch after a good run. Your muscles will be plyable then. Oh, and welcome to KF.
I don't see much talk about Hapkido. I love the art and think it is great for anyone, man, women, child, strong or weak. Are there any other practioners? Anyone have any great websites?
Since everyone else chimed in here is my opinion. Hapkido! It is a korean martial art,not a sport. It is very much about focusing your mind and body together. It does not require you to be the strongest guy in the room, just the one who is smart enough to keep his head about them. Marc Tedeschi wrote a book on Hapkido, it is great. I have been doing it for over ten years and I love it.
I have a katana, Retribution is her name. I think this woman did the right thing. Who is to say that the thug would not have tried to rape her or worse. Respect the katana, it is the protector of life.
I am starved to see martial arts tournaments in my area. Unfortunately my area does not get the tournaments. Does anyone know of a website that shows where these tournaments are held throughout the country?
Does anyone know of any good websites for Hapkido? Or any good sites that have videos of Hapkido techniques? There are just a few schools any my area that teach Hapkido and unfortunately I do not have the money or time to join the classes. HELP!
I have trained in Hapkido for 8 years and we do spar but not with the joint locks or sweeps as someone posted earlier. Performing these techniques can be very dangerous. So that is why. But if you are proficient you can perform these techniques and inflict serious injury.
