  1. Hello, I would like to introduce myself - Mihail, I am 35 and live in Sydney and the karate school I am with is Chito-Ryu. This is a great karate style, My Sensei is very professional skilled person (6th dan) and I am so happy that I made this decision to start studying karate. This forum is a great source of information about martial arts and I would like to say thank you to all who contribute to this website. I am also wishing all the best to everyone who is studying martial arts! thanks
  2. dear All! thank you for your replies about using contact lenses in karate. I take off my glasses when I do some exercises and so far I was quite confortable doing everything without glasses or contact lenses. Maybe in the future this won't work but at the moment I am fine. Thank you again to all!
  3. Excellent, thank you very much for all your support!!!
  4. Thank you guys for all your replies... Now I know for sure that my -8 is not a reason to stop training. Karate is a great martial art and sport! As I am not comfortable with lenses, then I will be taking off my glasses when it is really required. By the way I can see quite clearly in a short distance (2-3 meters) to that I guess this should be enough for kumite ?Sorry I am beginner in karate so that I am just guessing
  5. Hello, this is my first post on this forum. I recently joined Karate club and I really like it! the only issue for me is my bad vision (-. As I just started I can use my glasses (made of plastic) but how about kumite in the future ? I've tried contact lenses but by some reasons it didn't work for me. My sensei said I can simply take off my glasses during sparrings and it could even be an advantage as I will be very focused on movements of my partner. I really don't want to quit and I would appreciate if other people on this forum who has similar problem with vision can share with me their experience ? thank you in advance!
