  1. I recently joined the Marines and I'm in the DEP but I agree, most U.S. citizens don't see that being "fit" is much of an issue. Most of it is responsibility as isshinryu5toforever said, and most people who do try to get fit don't have the commitment to do it, they just keep putting it off. It's not an overly large issue, but it is an issue that I find rather embarrassing for our country.
  2. Well, I'm not informed at all on body weights, or really anything for that matter, but I would say it would help, when you tri\ain your body with weights, then actually do somthing, most of the time you're body "where you work it" is more stable and strong. Again, this coming from and inexperianced person lol hope I helped at all
  3. Same exact thing with me, I went from about 25 pushups to now doing about 50, although I don't exactly do pushups everday
  4. I would probably go for Jiu-Jitsu, but I would also like to try out a weapons martial art.
  5. I usually move to the inside, if it's a straight punch I step inside, block if I need to and counter attack. If it's a front kick I move to the outside and counter, but I mainly preferr inside.
  6. Thanks Patrick, and happy Thanksgiving to everybody else.
  7. Well were has the time gone, I joined over half a year ago. Thnk Patrick for making this forum, and happy half b-day KarateForums.
  8. I hope he makes a good recovery, he's a talented fighter, it would be sad to see his career ended like that.
  9. I saw the very beginning of it, then my friend had to leave, remeber guys, Rule 4.
  10. I'm shocked, kids that young... they should be promoted to like physical activity, but like that... that's insane, to enter MMA a person should at least be a teenager with the concept of when to use it, how to control yourself, and keep yourself from using it in an un-needed situation, I personally want to go into MMA, I'm 16, but still age 3? that's nuts, They may be avoiding video games and other bad things, but they are putting themselfs at to high a risk and there will often be at least 5 people who fight outside of the gym even though they're taught not to, it's just how kids are.
  11. With school and MA I can't do much, but with the time I have I like to make computer graphics, I also read quiet a bit, I like fantasy books such as Eragon, I used to draw too but now I don't. I also like to play the Nintendo Ds, I'm still young so I love my poket games, I even still pla pokemon, because it uses stratagy and calculations, plus other things, it's much more than a kids game if you think about it.
  12. First time I've ever seen this post lol but I think it's the person's choice, why would a specific religoin stop somebody or promote somebody to learn MA?
  13. Wow, I haven't had any of them nor heard of them, but it is true, there are few breakfast cereals that are good for you now, at least as I find.
  14. This is a hard thing to give help on, as Bushido Man said, the feet are so important it's funny actually, but you could try pull up, pushups with your bad foot resting on the other, stationary bike, try pedaling with the middle or heel or your bad foot, to work on balance you could to jump rope while only using your good foot, crunches shouldn't bother your foot, lay on your back and raise your feet 6 inches of the ground and hold for ab help, but that's all I can think of, if I think of more I'll try to post it. good luck
  15. Oh wow, this is a coincidence isn't it? I know Isshinryu Karate but I'm also going to to learn Judo, I only have 2 and a half years knowledge of karate but I still do my basics and what I can, But you should go for it, I don't know much of Korea but I know that Dimitris is right, they train hard. Good luck
  16. You might look into getting with some high school or college Westlers in your area to work on some ground fighting skills. That way, you won't be totally foreign to grappling. I was in school wrestling, but I couldn't make the practices, so now I just do some friendly wrestling with my friend who still takes it, he's been in it for 6 years now, but that's as good as I can get to learning it.
  17. Well, I was thinking of trying for UFC after I get out of the Military, and I'm not even out of school yet so I have alot of time to practice and hone my skills. Anyway, I've been trying to learn a series or martial arts to help for my goal, so far I know karate, I'm going to learn TKD, possibly Judo too, although there is no jiu-jitsu dojo around here for miles, I know that UFC drops the tradition, but in a competition, In my eyes I don't see where tradition would help, I would learn it, because I like to, but it doesn't make much of a difference I guess.
  18. I joined Wrestling in my school, and it starts 11-9-09 but I came to figure out, all the grapping and techniques I know for the ground, are illegal moves in wrestling, I know basically submission moves, no pin type moves at all, and somebody help me?
  19. Thanks, I was actually thinking that if I did that non-stop for as long as I could, I would be able to use my arms more often and they wouldn't tire out as much because I used them like that, but I guess I'll stick to what I'v been doing. And as for how my arm is, it's not half as bad as yesterday, now it just feels like a regular sore arm, thanks again.
  20. Wow, it seem's like I'm always getting injured in someway and asking you guy's for advice lol, but who better to ask besides a doctor? Anyway on Thursday 10-8-09 I was watching the Military channel "Navey Seals Training" and I had an idea just out of boredom, I have a 17 lbs dumbbell, so I though "Hey, why don't I lift this while I watch, then when i commercial comes on I take a break and when it comes back on switch arms." So I did, but it just so happens that there wasn't a commercial for the next 20 minutes, and I wanted to stick to my idea, so I kept going, and now I'm having arm pains if I try to straighten my arm and a little pain if I try ti flex I think I might have possibly damaged my tendons or something, I'v been easing my arm straight ievery once in a while just so I can have some motion it it. after I sraighten it, I can partially straighten my arm normally without much pain, but after a while it gets tight again and I have to use my other arm to straighten it again. So I'm again coming to you guys for advice, I know some of you always come to help.
  21. Well, recenty I'v been going to my friends alot, "the one were I almost broke my foot" and well it's 1.2 miles away, over the summer I was going back and forth at least 4 times and I was usally riding my bike, but now I'm running more, I don't know why but I'v got the urge to run more often now, and thank goodness, my foots all better although sore at times.
  22. welcome Patch, I hope you enjoy it here
  23. I don't really know what you could do to sthrengthen those area's, I'v noticed I have the same problem, so I would like to see some of the advice you get, all I can say is try to go without pads but don't hit as hard so you can slowely get used to it. Good luck
  24. I went and it's just a pretty bad sprain, I didn't need anything for it, so mostof the time Iv just been laying on my bed with my foot on my headboard and moving it a little and now it feels alot better, I'm still going to take it easy though Thanks guys
  25. I was at my friends house, we were playing on a big blue water barrel "there was no water in it" and we were just horsing around and I did a side jump onto the barrel, my front foot went over it but it hit the ground and twisted it, "my full body weight went into it." I heard a popping noise from it and then I got off, I hopped to a chair on my other foot and I looked at it, it looked like it was already swelling and I had a very limited range of motion, my friend's dad said it looked like I popped a blood vessel. so I rode home and I showed it to my guardian, he said it looks as if I rolled my ankle, that it dislocated for a second them popped back into place, I don't know what is wrong with it so I'm asking for advice.
