White Belt (1/10)

  1. As far as I know they are still in print and they can be found in larger city libraries and on some websites...amazon.com and other large sellers.
  2. I have read bits and pieces of his book on occaision when my SBN brings it in, but I haven't had the chance to buy it. Every time I get the money to buy it , something unfortunate happens like I snap my staff in half during tourny...haha that has happened more than once. But this year as my E dan gift from my SBN he said he may get me a copy which would be nice. Have you ever read any of GM Hwang Kee's text?
  3. Just wanted to get to know some other C.S. Kim TSD brothers and sisters. I train under C.S. Kim's Indiana school under SBN Richard Behr. I am a first Dan getting ready for Second Dan and I frequently train under GM Kim at the headquarters.
  4. Okay thankyou very much...I will try these sites.
  5. Is there a reliable source that has a video or chart of each individual movement of some Shaolin forms, preferrably weapons, that someone could recommend? Thanks
  6. I got the opportunity to teach tonight and I tried to be a little more enthusiastic than my master normally is. End results- Everyone had fun and gave it their all. This is more than they usaully give. Although I was teaching, I had fun as well. Thanks for the tips!
  7. Okay, I am not an instructor, yet, but I wanted to help the younger students to keep going. I usually try and give them some sort of motivational talk before and after class and if I get the treat of observation that night, I normally critique their work and emphasize the good stuff that they did. It seems to work but I wanted a wider range of options to use...thankyou. If I owned the school, I would definatly use some of your ideas, but due to our strict tradition, modern motivational tools are prohibited i.e. Century's motivational patch system.
  8. What are some good ways to motivate students?
  9. Agreed, Tang Soo to tradition!!
  10. Oh wow, the rubber band ball beats mine, but I carry sanitizer and wipes, not only for me but for my germaphobic classmate. I also carry three do boks and three sets of sparring gear. I also carry a home made trauma kit. Maybe not odd, just prepared.
  11. Agreed, do not go on high carb diets before a tournament if you are fighting, you will burn out and you will not perform at you peak. Like everyone had been saying, just eat right and eat smart. Remember when choosing a meal, common sense is the best diet.
  12. Have you tried sand, it is heavy to lift and expensive, but it is reliable.
  13. They used to have something like that, but it didn't pull through. But I sent an email to the fitness director and am still awaiting an answer from her. Hopefulley she will return the email.
