"shoots" are great if done properly. -

Knees from the clinch
Shootfighter replied to Severe Matburn's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
i have nothing against kneeing in a clinch if its best for the situation but i prefer shin's and elbows. if your clinched, sometimes its best to try to control your opponents head. -
same here. when i started working out i had a goal of what i wanted to accomplish. i wanted to be a monster now that i've met my goal i only lift when i meet friends at the gym.

was it hard starting out?
Shootfighter replied to Shootfighter's topic in Instructors and School Owners
thanks for the replies. i have been seriously thinking of opening a school but i disagree about wanting it to feel like a family environment. i dont intend to make it a "scary" experience but IMO little kids should start with something else besides MMA. -
Finally! The weight has started to come off!

TIP: when you got one leg, dont forget about the other one i've done that and i've been "reminded" too -
was it hard starting out trying to get students? what approach did you take to attract people?

what would you do?
Shootfighter replied to Shootfighter's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
i cant speak for everyone but when i shoot im already close anyways. the few times i shoot, i do so from a clinch (usually). therefore, most knee strikes would hit me in the chest, it might hurt but probably wont stop me. for people who shoot from a distance, a knee probably would connect. those are the types of people that a kick might work, but i still wouldn't recommend it. i guess i should start being more clear on what im saying. sorry if i caused a confusion. -

Ironberg, elbows are cool but i wouldn't recommend the knees. -
alot of people dont seem to like the hook punch because its easily blocked and leaves you more open than a straight punch. but in my MMA experience, a solid hook punch could very easily end the fight. whats your opinion?
-
what i do for all of my fights is pump myself up. i convince myself that im not going to lose and i'll just tear that guy to pieces. and after the fight i come back to reality.

creatine will help your muscles get bigger but i still suggest that you dont take supplements. creatine is also known to cause some really bad acne. look into it some more and see if you really want to take it. as a rule of thumb, never take anything you know nothing about.
-
i personally dont like supplements. i've been gaining alot of size lately just doing hard training. but it sounds like you might want to try Creatine. never take more than you should and dont forget to cycle off.

Preventing that ground fight.
Shootfighter replied to Kensai's topic in General Martial Arts Discussion
keep your distance. most takedowns are performed when your close together. -
Style Vs Style.
Shootfighter replied to Kensai's topic in Choosing a Martial Art, Comparing Styles, and Cross-Training
sorry Kyle-San, i was just going on what i know. -
my advice would be to take it easy and dont do alot to aggravate it. pulled muscles heal faster when you rest.

i honestly think that Shootfighting works better than Jui Jitsu (or atleast BJJ) simply for the reason that we strike. i also think that Shootfighting works better than most stand-up styles because we grapple. im not trying to say anything bad about any art because it really comes down to the person. -
you might have cracked a rib (i've cracked 4, its not fun)
-
sorry everyone. i didn't realize there was another thread like this until i already posted it.

i didn't see the fight either but i've heard all about it. Shamrock quit going into the 3rd or 4th round. he was too messed up. it wasn't a submission, he just quit. hes been out of his prime for awhile but he's still da man
-
im seriously bummed out that Shamrock lost. but im a good sport, congrats to Tito.
-
im still a Shamrock fan i wish i could have seen the fight
