I see shadow boxing along the same lines as I see Kata; both important and similar training tools for the martial artist.

As I've always said concerning rank....PROOF IS ON THE FLOOR and not around ones waist and/or on a certificate.
-
Who really has a legitimate rank? That's the six million dollar question. Possibly not one of us OUTSIDE of our governing body!

When I said..."cheating...nope!" I was saying that it's NOT cheating, imho! -

For a beginner of the MA, it's difficult for them to remember that THEY KNOW HOW to do any said technique(s).

That's my point. Those who administer any said contract have their lawyer(s) write up these contract in such a way so they get paid irregardless of anything...then all the school has to do is get them signed on the dotted line. Contracts and the martial arts = Oxymoron = consistent discrepancies...imho. -

Isn't it just great on how contracts dictate everything concerning your who, what, where, when, why, and how you train in the martial arts?! -
Well oh well....Both the Bears and the Jets tried their best, but, the Packers and the Steelers won...and they're both on their way to SUPER BOWL 45. Packers win SP45!!

Super congrats and keep working on your back kick and before you'll know....it's as easy to do as....well...walking. -
What I was actually looking for was context. For example, off the top of my head... [iN NO SPECIAL ORDER] 1. Weapons (TYPES) 2. Grappling (TYPES) 3. Sparring (TYPES) 4. Motivation (TYPES) 5. Kata/Bunkai (TYPES) For example, I've never had any luck getting into a TKD dojang because I'm not a TKD practitioner. However, there has to be something that I could offer to a TKD dojang that might interest them even though I'm not a TKD practitioner.

Imagine what the world of the martial arts would be like if the following was to happen.... The ITF/WTF didn't recognize the JKA or vise versa!! OR... The Kodokan didn't recognize the AJJIF or vise versa!! OR.... Imagine what YOUR world would be like if NOT ONE organization in the martial arts world recognized you and your governing body? OR.... Not one martial arts organization recognized Kanazawa Sensei? To some, these mere thought(s) brings them to their literate knees. Oh how subjective/objective the martial arts world can be!!

Spacers promote the material under the first one, and it dominoes after that! So, if I stack 5 boards with spacers, am I breaking 5 or just 1 in reality? Imho, I'm only breaking 1. However, am I releasing enough energy for that 1, or am I releasing enough energy for all 5? That's why whenever I see tameshiwara demo's of 20, 30, or 40 stacks of concrete, I'm laughing because they didn't break 20 and so on, no, they broke 1 or maybe 2. Now, break a stack similar WITHOUT any spacers; that's energy transferred through and through. That's why a stack of 5 boards without spacers is far more difficult than a stack of 5 SPACED boards. IMHO!!

I'm dead set against contracts in the martial arts, always have and I always will be. Why? Because, imho, contracts only care about themselves and not the student. So, if and when you son(s) quit, and I hope they don't, but in case they do quit, you'll be stuck in a contract that you're going to have to pay until the end of the contract and if you don't cancel the contract properly at its end, you'll be automatically renewed without your knowing it and/or able to do anything about it. Hopefully you've read the contract and its fine print and visited with a contract lawyer as to just how binding Rhee's contracts are...and I'm sure his contracts are as binding as fort knox. Stuck in a contract for three years is a really long, long, long, long time. Who's to say that this style of the martial arts is for your son(s)? Only time will tell!! -
Each and every year at our Hombu...but that's when it was in southern California...nice and warm.
