what if you woud have to live the same day over and over
sensei8 replied to judobrah's topic in General Chat
Well...if the day was a good day...YEAH, but if it was a bad day...NO WAY!! -
2 games remaining...will the Cowboys save grace or will they end up with egg on their face. Their playoff future is in their hands; I'm remaining slightly optimistic for now because they've been here before....just short of the goal line...and then fumbled away their playoff berth. GO COWBOYS!!

I can't forget this shout out....How about them Colts...finally...one in the win column.

Patrick, You might just be right. However, as Jerry Glanville put it so poetic..."NFL, it means 'Not For Long'." No job is guaranteed in any pro sport.

Taekkyon listed by UNESCO as intangible heritage
sensei8 replied to DWx's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
That might be the million dollar question with no obvious answer. -
Please don't hate my obvious answer, well it's obvious to me that I'd use this answer, seeing I'm a staunch proponent of it... Kata. After all, Kata is imbued with Tai Sabaki.

Nice BJJ in a LE setting
sensei8 replied to tallgeese's topic in BJJ, Judo, Jujitsu, Aikido, and Grappling Martial Arts
I concur with the both of you. The choke wasn't a choke to harm, but a choke to control until the other security officer applied the cuffs. I'm no LEO, but aren't the powers of a security guard much more lesser than those of a LEO?!? I didn't see anything from either of the security guards that would warrant any legal problems for their actions. Did you? -
Yes...Merry Christmas to everyone here at KarateForums.com!!

Provide a place for students to change that's roomy and safe. I visited a dojo where they hired an interior decorator with an emphasis on Japan...and it showed...imho, it was way over-decorated, if possible, I thought that it took away from the studies. Things on the walls that weren't MA related...for example...a large picture of downtown Tokyo...at night. Simplicity is key to decorating ones school.

Taekkyon listed by UNESCO as intangible heritage
sensei8 replied to DWx's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
First thing I noticed in the article is that Taekyon was listed as a "TRADITIONAL"...this caused me to pause there for sometime... What's an UNTRADITIONAL Korean art? -
Taekwondo uses the hands too!
sensei8 replied to DWx's topic in TKD, TSD, Hapkido, and Korean Martial Arts
Danielle, That was about the funniest thing I've ever seen...I'm still laughing and laughing. Thanks for that...I needed a good laugh!! Btw, the techniques were SOLID! -
As a karateka forever, I understand the importance of the seiza position, but as the OP wonders about Oyama's seiza... Did anybody think that Oyama was just plainly sitting without any concern of anybody reading anything into it? I'm just saying...

I still don't make any resolutions...haven't for years. However, if I was to make one, it'd be something like this... >Continue to improve the betterment of every Shindokan student.

How about them Chiefs!! I have to be honest, I don't think any NFL team had a chance to beat the once unbeaten Packers. They were destined for a perfect season. Until they met up with the Chiefs on 12/18/2011!! Again...How about them Chiefs!!

Congratulations!!

Successful execution of any Karate technique, punch in this thread, requires that the entire technique, from ones head to their sole, must be in concert with one another; everything starting and ending at the same time. Shindokan teaches that any Karate technique shouldn't move akin to a domino effect; one after the other, but in harmony with conception, through crescendo, and climaxing, and in that, each piece of any Karate technique must have an exclamation to it. Otherwise, only a push is being performed instead of any said Karate technique(s). This is Shindokan methodology as well as theorem.

You know Brian, I do concur with your post. Having said that, I can only speak with authority where Shindokan is concerned. We start Kobudo training at Green belt...reason: The Hombu wants our students to first have more than a minimum knowledge of the three K's before they begin to wield any Kobudo weapon. Our Soke was fond of saying often during Kodudo training..."What empty hands do is one thing, but when the hand is occupied with a weapon is another; they must be one."

Brawl: Cincinati vs. Xavier basketball game goes awry
sensei8 replied to bushido_man96's topic in General Chat
Wow...wow...wow...how sad. Tempers seemed to boil during the course of this game, to only boil over when one Xavier player came to the aide of a team mate, but shoving the opposing player was not the thing to do. No, if he had only pulled his team mate away from the ensuing argument, the brawl might've not ever started. One push leads to an avalanche of fists and an bench clearing brawl. Tempers weren't tempered at all, and this might happen in any competition of pent-up compassion to win. I suppose I'm only willing to see this type of brawl during a hockey game where a fight or two is expected and wished for as a crash is at a NASCAR event. Those, who are at fault, will be dealt with by the universities, and rightfully so, by suspensions and sanctions, imho, it's another black eye for the NCCA. Fight and/or instigate a fight; you'll be ceremoniously dealt with without any ambiguity. -
I wouldn't have this type of person near my family and I because of the unknown possibilities. Does this person need help? Yes, but I'm not that type of needed professional and I wouldn't want to assume a position that I'm unqualified for. Best wishes and good luck.

Is "how much force to use" the wrong question?
