  1. In self-defense, I'm totally aggressive because it's me or them.
  2. 2,607,458 hits on YouTube...well...whatever he has, he's got it. I didn't watch the entire thing because...well...I hung on as long as I could. Thanks for sharing them.
  3. Strange that he would just vanish. Did he vanish before or after they tried to get rid of you? Yes, it was strange and it is still strange. Whatever, if anything at all, was asked of him by his father on his death bed, he obeyed it quickly and decisively. Yes, Iwao vanished way before they tried to oust me.
  4. That's good then...huh?!
  5. Now...HEAL Boo Boo...HEAL....
  6. Oh don't hate me for my answer... It's not the hours, but it's the YEARS, however long they might be.
  7. Some solid advice here for you to glean from. My 2-cents...beat the bag until it finally breaks...then buy another bag and beat it until it finally breaks...then...well...you get the point. Static effectiveness will never replace live effectiveness, imho. Combo?!? Too many to list, but, just as long as you're doing more than one technique EFFECTIVELY/CORRECTLY...create your own combos. Welcome to KarateForums.com!!
  8. Very solid post and advice there Ev!!
  9. A very moving article, one that I sincerely enjoyed across the board!! Thank you for sharing it with us; it was an honor.
  10. Possibly we're not seeing the front kick as often as one might imagine because of the high chance of one being tackled, and/or, the lack of confidence for ones own front kick.
  11. Thanks Brian, and a solid post sir!! Hopefully, more members will chime in their thoughts as well...please.
  12. There you go ruining a favorite Martial Arts quote with scientific theory. Kidding aside, I have had a board hit me back when trying to break with a knife hand strike. I still hate that breaking technique....
  13. Excellent replies thus far...thank you all. Please keep them coming!!
  14. Iwao Takahashi WAS San Dai-Soke, and as San Dai-Soke, he was by all purposes, in charge, but when he vanished and the like, his authority as San Dai-Soke was stripped from him, and it's noted in both the By-Laws AND in every Shindokan scroll. Should he ever be allowed to rejoin us, his title would be more of a figure-head and nothing more. But I don't see him being allowed to rejoin the Shindokan Hombu ever.
  15. Solid post!! I truly like your advice in the last paragraph above..thanks Danielle!!
  16. I've done this before Danielle, and the two times I've done this, doctors told me the best thing for me was rest and to not aggravate the injury. I feel for you, and please, see your doctor and follow his/her advice over mine.
  17. I think Bruce was telling O'hara....boards don't hit back, but I/you/me DO!!
  18. Not many, and that's the purpose. Yes, it's exclusive, again for a purpose. Shindokan is NOT my art, and we run the Hombu like a Hombu. Yes, some of the By-Laws have been amended, but over 90 percent still remain, and that 90 percent is the voice of Soke and Dai-Soke, not anybody else. The Hombu is ALSO a business, nothing wrong with that, but Shindokan is its primary purpose. No. That's not what our Soke and Dai-Soke had written in the original By-Laws...any member must possess a Dan rank no less than Godan. Therefore, a junior yudansha wouldn't qualify. Yes, it's just the martial arts but ONLY when I compare it to true NEEDS, like food or rent or utilities or medical needs or other important needs. I can't compare the martial arts against vital needs, I just can't. I love the MA, always have and always will, but against the needs of my family; family first, MA second, in my book. I'm only concerned and involved with all of the rules and regulations on the tail of an attempted "take-over", to ensure other legal mechanisms are in place for the betterment of the entire student body, after all, I'm Kaicho as it's part of my duties and responsibilities, and I'm a student too.
  19. Fair questions... Those who had orchestrated the initial perpetration have been asked to resign of their own accord, at the suggestion of the Legal Team, and they have stepped down. Not all have left the Hombu, the main 'suspects' have, but the rest have been allowed to remain, however, they're no longer a part of the Board of Regents. Iwao Takahashi is NOT in charge in any shape, way, and/or form. It was his idea to move everything overseas at the request of the Dai-Soke, Iwao's father, but we gave it a more closer and suspicious look into it, and the only thing we had was Iwoa's word on what Dai-Soke had actually requested of his son, if anything at all. Iwao is NOT the grandson of the founder/Soke; Iwao is Dai-Soke's son. Haven't heard from Iwao since then, and we can't seem to find him anywhere in, and/or near, Nanjo, Okinawa. We suspect he's here somewhere in the USA or is great at hiding, and that he never actually left at USA at all. Why would he do whatever it is that he's doing? We've no idea. Our By-Laws have stripped Iwao of any authority at the Hombu and the like. On another note... It's not the organization that neither wanted me or respected my opinions, it was only a few from the old Counsel of Regents that felt the way they did. I was chosen by Dai-Soke himself to become Kaicho, and it was made official after all of the 'i' were dotted and all of the 't' were crossed.
  20. The Shindokan Hombu has done a major restructuring of its Counsel of Regents due to recent severe issues that had attempted to seriously damage the Hombu from within. See the below link... http://www.karateforums.com/the-attack-of-the-hierarchy-vt42366.html The Counsel of Regents was the creation of our Soke and Dai-Soke to give a voice addressing any and all important issues concerning the Hombu, student body, and governing. Our Soke wanted the Counsel of Regents to consist of 12 members from the student body who meet specific requirements to sit in these honored positions as a part of the Shindokan Hierarchy. The requirements were as follows: 1. Counsel of Regent members must possess a Shindokan Karate-do Dan rank no less than Godan. 2. Counsel of Regent members must also posses a Shogo title. 3. Counsel of Regent potential members candidate(s) must be selected by Soke and/or Dai-Soke. 4. Counsel of Regent potential members must be elected into membership by a majority vote of the Shindokan Hombu's Hierarchy. The NEW requirements are as follows: 1a2b. Counsel of Regents will consist of no more than five (5), and no less than three (3) elected members by an unanimous vote of the Shindokan Hombu's elected Hierarchy. 2a. Counsel of Regent members must possess a Shindokan Karate-do Dan rank no less than Nanadan. 3a. Counsel of Regent members must possess a Shogo title no less than Kyoshi. 4a. Counsel of Regent potential members candidate(s) must be selected by the Hombu's current Kaicho and/or Kancho. 5a. Counsel of Regent potential members must be elected into membership by a majority vote of the Shindokan Hombu's Hierarchy as well as the student body, after the candidates have been approved by the Shindokan Hombu's elected Hierarchy. 6a. The Counsel of Regents are no longer referred to as the "Counsel of Regents", but they shall be referred to as the "Board of Regents", as to confer to its new authority. The elected Hierarchy are those members from the current Administrative Team, the Executive Team, and the Instructor Team. Our Legal team is confident that what they've drafted and crafted into our By-Laws will be for the betterment of the Hombu and its student body. Student body here means that EVERY Shindokan student is part of the student body, and not just those students from the Hombu. All of the candidates have been selected and elected into the NEW Board of Regents. They are as follows, in no particular order: 1) Thomas Stillwater (1960- ) Directing Manager of Curriculum Department, Shindokan Karate-do Saitou-ryu; Hachidan (8th Dan), Hanshi: Thomas began training under Dai-Soke in September 1966. He earned his Karate-do Hachidan (8th Dan) in June 2004, and he earned his Kobudo Nanadan (7th Dan) in July 2007. His Hanshi was awarded to him in July 2006. Before assuming his current Hombu duties, he had been a Counsel of Regents member before; 15 years. 2) Jonathan Plouge (1960- ) General Affairs Director, Shindokan Karate-do Saitou-ryu; Hachidan (8th Dan), Kyoshi: Jonathan began training under Dai-Soke in April 1967. He earned his Karate-do Hachidan (8th Dan) in June 2004, and he earned his Kobudo Nanadan (7th Dan) in July 2005. His Kyoshi was awarded to him in July 2006. Jonathan is the ranking member of the Counsel of Regents based on ranks/title. Jonathan’s been a Counsel of Regents member before; 15 years. 3) Ben Stevenson (1960- ) Directing Manager of Technical Department, Shindokan Karate-do Saitou-ryu; Nanadan (7th Dan), Kyoshi: Ben began training under Dai-Soke in March 1968. He earned his Karate-do Nanadan (7th Dan) in June 2005, and he earned his Kobudo Rokudan (6th Dan) in July 2007. His Kyoshi was awarded to him in July 2007. Ben’s been a Counsel of Regents member before; 14 years. 4) Giichi Tanaka (1961- ) Director PR Department, Shindokan Karate-do Saitou-ryu; Nanadan (7th Dan), Kyoshi: Giichi began training under Dai-Soke in August 1968. He earned his Karate-do Nanadan (7th Dan) in July 2006, and he earned his Kobudo Rokudan (6th Dan) in June 2007. His Kyoshi was awarded to him in July 2008. Giichi has been a Counsel of Regents member before; 12 years. 5) Yoshikazu Tanaka (1961- ) Qualifications Department, Shindokan Karate-do Saitou-ryu; Nanadan (7th Dan), Kyoshi: Yoshikazu is Giichi’s brother; they’re twins! Yoshikazu began training under Dai-Soke in August 1968. He earned his Karate-do Nanadan (7th Dan) in July 2006, and he earned his Kobudo Rokudan (6th Dan) in June 2007. His Kyoshi was awarded to him in July 2008. Yoshikazu has been a Counsel of Regents member before; 12 years. There you go; there's the 5 newly elected Board of Regents. Kaicho and Kancho were not permitted to be selected as a Board of Regents because it would taint the validity of this newly elected board. Greg and I freely decided to not be included in this process except to aide them with our faithful support.
