  1. RIP, and my prayers go out to his family, as well as those involved in the ITF TKD. Another empty chair!!
  2. Politics, are what they are. Some live for the drama and thus they love the politics that surround the MA. While others avoid the drama and thus they hate the politics that surround the MA. Our Hombu isn't immune to the pros and cons of politics. No, we don't look for it but it'll rear its ugly head from time to time. Some of the issues are mundane and some are quite intense. Still, they've got to be handled in a timely manner as well as in a professional way. Never make personal attacks because the situation is what needs to be attacked, and not the person. To make a peanut butter sandwhich, one only needs three ingredients: *Bread *Peanut Butter *Jelly That's it!! It's not rocket science!! However, politics dictate that these simple ingredients are to be complicated across the board. In our sandwhich, the politics make the simple task of making our aforementioned sandwhich very difficult. Some will argue with the type of bread we are to use. Should we use wheat or white or whatever else is available. Some will argue with what type of peanut butter we are to use. Should we use creamy or crunchy or whatever else is available. Some will argue with what type of jelly we are to use. Should we use grape or strawberry or whatever else is available. Bottom line for me is this... JUST MAKE THE DARN SANDWHICH!! Stop making a mountain out of a mole-hill. To argue just to argue isn't productive and our students suffer in the long run. My own Hombu's hiearchy can't agree on the most basic ingredients to make a website or a facebook site or how to make a video or anything else that our students will benefit from. Why? They don't want to just make the darn sandwhich without making a political issue out of it. I just want the darn sandwhich. Our students want the darn sandwhich. Meanwhile, our students MA betterment is starving. Politics are not a delicious ingredient with an governing body!! Your thoughts!!
  3. I would like to thank each of those who've nominated me for said categories in the 2013 KarateForums.com Awards. Each year, KF members vote for other members who they feel that are deserving of such awards, and in that, I don't go into KF year after year for the reasons of receiving any KF award. No! My intent is to just share the MA with other MAists and non-MAists alike, and at times, to just have fun talking about things that aren't MA at all. We've a vibrant community here at KF and there's no other place that I'd rather be than right here at KF. So, thank you all for your nominations, they mean the world to me.
  4. YES!!
  5. Should, but nothing is a guarantee. I hope that you do!! Train hard and train well!! Knowledge is over rank, well, it should be!!
  6. Solid post!!
  7. Well done Zach...well done!! You should be very proud of yourself!!
  8. Great interviews lowereastside and Nidan Melbourne!! Thank you for all that you do to contribute to KF and its members across the board. Both knowledgeable in the MA, in that, both passionate about thier art!!
  9. Amen to that Bob. As with most things in life, it's about achieving a good balance. K. I concur!!
  10. Check out the CHIEFS!! Good luck with the Broncos and Peyton, but I think the Chiefs might still win that one. GO CHIEFS!! My boys got smashed by the Saints!!
  11. Yes, Happy Veterans Day...belated!!
  12. Speak with the parents!! Have the child in attendance with them during this conference. Then, emphasize what's expected of them, especially the child in question. Let them all know what the consequences will be if your expectations aren't meet. To learn the MA effectively, the student must take it serious and not be lacadaisical. And if the student can't follow your expectations, then show said student where the exit door is. Can lead the horse to water, but, we can't force the horse to drink the water. A MA student has to want to do it, and in that, that can be a tricky thing to learn, including said instructors. I don't need any student that just doesn't care, and in that, my patience does have it's limits. Good luck!!
  13. I've not heard of him either, but we all live in a big world.
  14. My favorite drills involves my partner moving in and out and to either sides and so on and so forth with the pads in no particular way. Why? In real life, our opponents don't always, if at all, move any perscribed manner; they just move. This drill makes one think because not always is said target(s) within rangeable abilities. This drill also forces one to also drill the many phases of Koshi. Koshi is more than "hips", Koshi involves using your whole body in a coordinated manner to generate and transfer power, and to assist mobility. MOVE THE TARGETS!! Make them work for the targets in an effective manner.
  15. Solid OP, very solid!! Over the many, many years, I've experienced these wonderful moments like you've described with my own Dai-Soke an untold amount of times because that was his way. At times, he'd call them a "test" and at other times he'd call them a "rememberance", and still, at other times he'd call them a "visit". Thank you for your post!!
  16. Solid post!!
  17. Good luck, have fun, and blitz to no end. Let us know how it goes!!
  18. Solid post across the board, and in that, I wholeheartedly concur!!
