  1. Solid post!! I share in your wondering in which of the three Naifanchi kata's to choose from because each have something to whet the appetite! Would be an easy choice if the Naifanchi was still one kata, and not as it's practiced today.
  2. Interesting numbers for week 17! Thanks for these as well!! How about them Cowboys!! Dominated the Colts to win the NFC East Division; one that they've not experienced in 5 years!! Should Romo win MVP? I suppose he deserves it because he "put out a championship performance" with 5 TD's, to name one of the requirements, and, if one looks at Romo's overall effort this season, I find myself out of reasons why he shouldn't win MVP! I also think that the starters should be on the field against the Redskins as little as possible so that they are fit as a fiddle for their first playoff game is 5 years!! GO COWBOYS!!
  3. Yes, it was a classic Machida fight, and that kick was impressive!
  4. That's one of the primary reasons that there are no kicks above the stomach in Shindokan!! :$
  5. Solid post, and of course, check with your doctor first!!
  6. I wholeheartedly agree!! More importantly, if the drills you created increase your MA betterment, that's all that really matters.
  7. If it'll increase your MA betterment, than train in both if you're able to train in both at the same time! They both aren't alien to one another, so I believe you'll be fine cross training in them both!!
  8. Solid post!!
  9. A very solid article through and through! A clear and definitive look at brown belt. Those who are approaching brown belt will get a lot of intent from your solid points, and, those who are already a brown belt can appreciate the intent as well! Even though it's been a million years ago for me, you hit a homerun with each and every paragraph!! Even though I've been training over 50 years, I can vividly remember each and every rank; some more challenging than others!! Well done!!
  10. Of course Shindokan is Karate-do, but that's not how I read the poll, and yes, I took the question literal. Shindokan is NOT Japanese, and Soke would roll over in his grave if I took that stand. Stubborn or dumb of me to read into the poll question? Maybe, but I stand on my reasons for my first post. You and I are kindred spirits through our style; this I'm proud of!!
  11. After you open your school, will you still be a LEO?? Yes. I'm doing the school part time. I'm keeping my cop job. Cool!! I wish you much success in both passions!!
  12. I couldn't answer the poll question because the style I train in isn't listed!
  13. Welcome to KF; glad you're here!!
  14. Oohhbhh...I like the link and the info!! Thanks, Patrick!! Cowboys VS the Colts; both 10-4. The Cowboys running game might suffer with Murray's left hand not being 100%. The Cowboys are favored by 3, but we all know that can dwinde at any time! GO COWBOYS!!
  15. Congrats; well deserved!!
  16. Double promotions are rare, and they should be! Congrats; well deserved!!
  17. I'm partial to Century; I've a few ironman gi's; I love them through and through!!
  18. This is a good analogy.Solid, both!! Dare I say it? Proof is on the floor!! There, I said it.

    Solid post!!
  20. Worth repeating...solid article; through and through!! Sorry to sound like a broken record, however, I don't choose the technique but the situation at hand chooses for me; hence, it'll be automatic! Therefore, I do not hit/choose, it hits/chooses all by itself. For me, these natural responses, or actions, came into being through years of training. I see attacks in slow motion, more now, than before! And IF I choose of my own choosing, then I choose the right tool(s) for the moment, and it's not out of curiosity, but it's from an acquired process built through rigorous training these past 5 decades!! Am I someone to be reckoned with? No!! I'm the furthest thing from it!! I'm familiar with my short-comings!! Thanks for the article, Alex!!
  21. Alex, another fine tutorial; right to the heart of the matter!! Driving the hips or pressing down? Again, I find myself repeating my answer to your question(s)... It depends on the situation at the very moment; both can be advantageous per the very moment at hand, imho!!
  22. Interesting application; solid tutorial, as always!! Thank you for sharing it!!
  23. After you open your school, will you still be a LEO??
