wait, are you kidding me? there are actually people who just cut out squats? :o but it does so much if done right! what exercises can you do to replace it? maybe it's cuz the trainer in the weight room is a "dinosaur" as you put it, but he always says that if you only have time for one lift, it should be sqauts.

Yeah, I didn't get it either. Some people they seem to think Leg press will make up for it. Morons.

yeah, a lot of trainers aren't from Brooks Kubik's camp. Dinosaur trainers are kind of annoying some times. I love free weights, but sometimes you need to use machines. I worship at the alter of the all-mighty cable god! :D

ach; i thought you meant older, "rocky" styled trainers. my bad.

but i doubt the leg press gives you HALF the benefits of a squat, front or back! psh... morons...

lol, I reread you post after I posted, and thought you DID understand, and I was wrong is thinking you didn't. lol. Ok, before I edited it, my last Paragraph said:

When I said "dinosaur" I was referring the dinosaur training, the style of lifting that comes out of Brooks Kubik's camp. Most trainers aren’t into that kind of thing. Sorry, I should have made it clear what I was talking about for the less weight training literal

Yeah, the leg press is better for focusing on the quads. Not nearly as good as sqauts.

well, but it takes a heck of a lot less to do a proper bench press than it does for a proper, say, side kick, and i think we're all willing to do that :) and if you can do a correct bench press, it works out so much more than a smith machine, i assume. whatever that is.

I find I punch mostly using my shoulders as i have quite a hunched sparring posture and punch mainly straight (as i'm hunched effectively if i was upright i'd be punching upwards like a shoulder press, if that makes sense?!).

The only time i differentiate between incline, flat and decline is when i'm trying to get a particular shape to my chest. If i want to build the lower outside part of my chest i us cables (flyers) to effectively do a decline press, i find it makes my pecs look squarer and not like i have * (hmmm). I also do a lot of decline flyers on a situp bench with dumbells. I think its a great excercise. I do Flat work for general growth and hook punch power and incline if i want more height on my chest, a bit of a clevage if you like (oo-er!)

At the moment i'm concentrating a lot on inclined chest work and rear deltoid work just to give me more muscle higher and just look a bit more muscular.

Keep at it! Get masssiiivvveee!

The Bench press isn’t likes as much now mostly because the gym rats spend to much time reading Muscle and Fiction and to little time training.

great line. I was thinking this the whole time.

I hate the gym, and hate thinking I have to get big. Im happy with my routine right now. TKD, running up stairs at a garage downtown, going to the park to do chin ups, and a great chest workout at my neighbors house. Flat bench press, then out back to hit the punching bag. My chest always gets ripped after that. And it is all free!
