Furious Kurai
Will someone develop me a good leg routine?!! I want big bulky, muscular, cut legs I have a 34.5" waists and 23.5" Quads and 14.5" calves that is UBER small my legs are smaller than my upper torso. and incase you want other numbers 40" Chest (48" if you count shoulders) 14" Arms 11" Forearms All measurements are when "cold". Not pumped or anything. Anyway please help my quads and calves grow!!! Ppl told me high reps kills and builds the legs. Others told me High weights low reps. I dunno which brings what results. Never really paid attention I just worked my legs. so I dunno what's the key to building massive muscular Quads/ hams/ and calves. I do squats with different foot placements, deadlifts, calf raises with different foot placements, seated calf raises with different foot places, lunges etc. Any tips? Number of sets and Reps?! Thanks I really want bigger legs and yes I'm eating enough good food for bulking. But my upper body smashes my lower body as fars as proportion. Thanks
White_Tiger
Lower reps and more weight will build bulk. Lower weight, and more reps will cut up. Stay with the squats...that is what will build your thighs, and it is a good core exercise for everything else. Give it time though...it won't happen over night. And dont' train your legs heavy more than twice per week. Over training is worse than not training at all. Hope this helps...good luck.
Practise is the Key
amm they make you short. I am still training however, having dabbled in Shotokan and Shotokai Karate. I am please to report that Kenshukai is one of the strongest and most disciplined styles ( i did not write this)
Tibby
It really all depends. For some, High reps work. For others, low reps work. More almost everyone, high reps on squats are killers for your legs. Try 20 rep squats. It is a mental thing, as well as a physical. Your legs will burn like fire. You will want to stop at 12! Ditto on what White_Tiger said, you will not get Tom Platz legs over night. Other Then squats, deadlifts, front squats, and lunges are great for building that leg. When you are doing Extensions or curls of the leg, hold it at the peak for a few second before letting down. When you do calf raise, make sure your toes are raised on a box or some small surface, an inch or 2 above the ground. They need to get that extra stretch. So go till your heels touch the ground and back up. You will feel it. , making some massive calves, and giving your thighs great tone.amm they make you short. iolair
I'm personally more concerned with strength rather than the look of the muscle - I don't care how large or small a muscle looks as long as it'll do all I need from it! Currently: Kickboxing and variants.Previously: Karate (Seido, Shotokan, Seidokan), Ju Jitsu, Judo, Aikido, Fencing.

Seeing as you are in Kickboxing and Juiitsu, you really should be conserned with size. The legs contain some of hte largest muscles in the body, controll legs size is a great way to control your weight class.
CTpizzaboy
It seems you know more than you're letting out. Low reps(6-, high intensity. Canh T.I often quote myself. It adds spice to my conversations.
