queewag
I just started karate and I'm totally focused on taking it to another level. But. my 9-5 job then straight to the gym or karate classes is wearing me out. Can anyone out there recommend anything for power and soreness? I used to take Weider Megabolics for lifting and bball but I feel like the karate is giving me a different kind of sore. Am I just being a wuss? Thanks for help. Tibby
Your muscles should get used to it a little bit. If they don't, you need to go see a Doctor, tell him your syptoms, and tell him this is a persisting soreness. For now, try you average over the counter drugs. You might also want to invest in a tubve of aspercreme, rub it on your sore areas after a shower where it hurts. Also, try stretching before you go to bed the night of class, and again in the morning after. that might help, too.
gheinisch
Your soreness should work itself out after a few days. For me the third day after doing something new is the worst. Karate uses whole new muscle groups then lifting and other types of exercise. I know I've discovered a few I didn't know I had. Your body will adjust in time. Radok
Amino fuel plus and calcium/vitamin d all from twinlabs. If you can't laugh at yourself, there's no point. No point in what, you might ask? there's just no point. Many people seem to take Karate to get a Black Belt, rather than getting a Black Belt to learn Karate. shotochem
It will take time for your body to get used to using your "Karate muscles" You will be sore in places you did not know could even be sore . Dont worry as you get used to it (adults probably about 1-2 months you wont hurt as much. Your best friend is a bottle of Ibuprophren and a good soak in the tub afterwards. The key is not to push yourself too hard too soon. As you become accustomed to the workouts you can start pushing harder. Pain is only temporary, the memory of that pain lasts a lifetime. spongebob
Soak in a hot tub with epsom salts right after your workout. Your body will still feel sore the next day, but not half as bad. Live, Love, Laugh
sindian
It just takes time. I just started getting back into the martial arts after a long break, and I thought I was going to die after the first few classes. Thankfully, I'm doing ok now. Your muscles just need to get used to the workout. You might want to take it easy at first. Give your muscles time to adjust. You don't want to burn out. WhiteShark
Water is the best supplement on the planet! I'm sure that part of it is you sweat more and lose more water during your Karate classes than some activities you've done before. Also You probably don't drink enough water during the day. You know how everyone says to drink 8 glasses of water a day? They aren't lieing although I think that might be excessive iunless it's the only liquids you are getting. Try drinking a lot of water (thry to get 24-32oz) the afternoon before workouts and then drink as much as you can hold after you workout. Banannas are also a great pre/post workout food because they have a lot of Sugar and Potasium which are important for energy and muscle function.
