superfighter Posted September 23, 2003 Posted September 23, 2003 i was wondering that, Neo had Tae Kwon Do downloaded in to his brain, does that automaticly mean that he can kick high? i don't think so
kchenault Posted September 23, 2003 Posted September 23, 2003 Just having the knowledge would be a big step. You have to know what to do before doing it. So I think you could. Some would be better than others though. Ken ChenaultTFT - It does a body good!
battousai16 Posted September 23, 2003 Posted September 23, 2003 yes, bare in mind that mr. anderson (i love saying that ) was in no way out of shape when those were downloaded into his brain. well, i suppose the mental manifestation of mr. anderson wasn't out of shape; the actual thomas anderson had the whole atrophy thing going. anyway. on top of that, getting past the whole mental block of "i can't do this" would help a great deal. knowing you can resets your muscles "memory cells", thus letting you know your legs can stretch that far, or whatever. it's like we say in cross country, 95% of it is mental. superfighter Posted September 23, 2003 Posted September 23, 2003 no amount of downloaded information will allow you to kick you high unless ur already agile, you would still need to train your body to do so. Simply knowing that you could kick that high doesn't mean you could suddenly just do that. when you do the splits your legs hurt and you can only get so far becasue of the pain, downloaded information will not take that pain away.
Drunken Monkey Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 but he doesn't really kick. it's the matrix representation of him who does the moves. the real neo is sitting in a chair, playing a complex computer game. think of the downlaoded martial arts as power ups. post count is directly related to how much free time you have, not how intelligent you are."When you have to kill a man it costs nothing to be polite."
battousai16 Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 ah, but, and correct me if i'm wrong, but pain comes from electrical signals coming from your brain and into your nerves. but if your brain says that "i can do this, so i wont be sending pain that way", no message of "this hurts" will be sent through. and i believe that flexibility is based on "memory cells" (i don't remember the technical name for them), and that your nerves "remember" how far they can go. when you stretch, you reset the limit. but if you change them so that they "remember" to the maximum capacity, than that would seem to eliminate the pain. again, i could be way off, i'm just reciting stuff from memory from class and scientific american. Raminhos Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 I think that Neo downloaded bad files (with virus) !!! He is a great actor but a bad martial artist... but for the movie he does the job Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless, like water...
kchenault Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 Pain comes from the nerve endings being aggrevated. The nerves then send the impulses to the brain which the brain interprets as pain, not the other way around. Pain comes from doing something your body's not ready to do. Stretching and kicking high is one of them. Your body would have to be conditioned to perform the movements, but the knowledge would be there for correct techique and execution. A little work and in six months of physical conditioning and you would be a great martial artist if it worked like that. Ken ChenaultTFT - It does a body good!
battousai16 Posted September 24, 2003 Posted September 24, 2003 ach; thanks for clearing that up "I hear you can kill 200 men and play a mean six string at the same time..."-Six String Samurai
