cross Posted August 14, 2003 Posted August 14, 2003 For most people (including myself) its unlikely you'll know how to use your total lung capacity. With age, the lungs elasticity and capacity decreases. To keep lungs healthy try breathing in and out forcefully, pushing all the air out of the lungs.
Scorcho Posted August 14, 2003 Posted August 14, 2003 Also, try using your arms to increase your lung capacity. Stretch them out in a circular motion from your sides so that they form a line with you shoulders a collar bone while inhaling, and then move them back in the same path while exhaling. ZR440 Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 The breathing philosophy in KSW teaches to breath from the belly. Upper chest shouldn't even move. Anyone else been told that? It's happy hour somewhere in the world.
Tibby Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 I've beeen told that. The Karate guys say that is where you Ki energy is located. Everyone else says it is just healthier. And Scorcho is right, that works, too. If you've ever been in Athletics, especially track, the coaches will tell you to walk around with your hands on the back of your head, like your getting busted with crack, while you resting. Don't hunk over, stand streight, and breath deeping with yoru hand on your head.
