Chuck Norris also created Chun Kuk Do and the United Fighting Arts Federation (https://www.ufaf.org).

The first Martial Art I've studied (out of two :D ).

From what I was told, CKD had many aspects from the many arts he studied put together into what he called "The Universal Way" (Chun Kuk Do).

Chun Kuk Do (haven't practiced since 1996) - 2nd Red Belt

MSK Hapkido - Orange Belt

Back in the 60's, KARATE was a generic name for all martial arts.

There wasn't school of shotokan, TKD, Goju ryu, etc... They were ALL called KARATE no matter the particular style. Even Hapkido grandmaster Bon Soo Han had to open his first school in U.S.A. under the name Karate. lol

Later, TKD and TSD were called "Korean Karate".

Now about Norris.. He DID trained Karate with, i think, Fumio Demura and others.

i've never actually heard of the dude but he probably does all 3. there's no reason why he can't.

I remember reading a while back that he actually defeated Bruce Lee in the World Championships. do any of the older guys recall this? Chuck was and is the real deal!

That is interesting. Chuck is a little healthier then Bruce, the corn feed Southern Boy he is. Bruce kicked his * in Game of Death, the first seen, but that was just a movie. Anyone know who would/did really win a fight between them?

We know for sure he did Karate, he is like what? 3 time World Karate Champion?

who is Chuck Norris? Isnt he this guy with the black hair and has a pony tail?

Man I hope you're just being sarcastic. If not, you're thinking of Steven Segal. And you being an Aikido practitioner. Shame on you. He isn't in the same class as Chuck IMO. Chuck has done so much for kids and the MA. He is one of my MA heroes and always has been. 8)

I really think this idea of a "world championship" match between the two is a myth, according to their biographies.

Bruce Lee fought local matches in Hong Kong in the late 1950s. Then in the early 1960s Bruce went to college and developed his own personal system. He began giving "demonstrations" at the Long Beach Karate Internationals in 1964-1967. From 1964-1968 Chuck Norris was competing (and winning) in state, national and international tournaments. So 64-67 is the possible time frame when they could have fought together. But it seems unlikely to me. Lee took a turn to Hollywood in the late 1960s until his death in 1973 while Norris was the World Professional MiddleWeight Karate champion from 1968-1974.

I'm not sure Chuck Norris is that famous outside of America.. The only place I'd seen or heard of him was from a TV show called Walker Texas Ranger.. til I graded to black belt and started researching martial arts.

Keep Smiling!
