But_Why
My guess, probably the gym teacher. or possibly coach. (pretty much one in the same, depending on which part of the world you live in).
Icetuete
yeah kind of - "sports" is a subject in school; same as physical education in the US. he isnt the coach since we're no team, but i guess gym teacher is the right word. if anyone wonders: yes, he was actually meant to know much about sports. But_Why
Sounds like your gym teacher (from the responses given here) is full of it. Well on that subject anyway. Just ignore him, or if you feel like, argue the topic with him...
Icetuete
Just ignore him thats what we do, since school sports aint too important here.or if you feel like, argue the topic with him good idea - but i dont. few people do. he is way too stubborn and fixed upon certain ideas. sometimes i think that he might even be too stupid, when it comes to arguments and stuff, but who cares? my martial arts instructors are much more important to me and i respect them, in very contrast to "him"... Tibby
Next time, ask him, if stretching doesn't do all this, what does?
DokterVet
Well if you are flexible, you could easily prove him wrong by doing a really high leg lift or low splits and ask to see his. 22 years oldShootwrestlingFormerly Wado-Kai Karate

The_Devil_In_Disguise
I never do any warm up stretching However, I do some warm-up exercises such a kip-ups and handstands. I don't do anything major until this helps me keep warmed up. Plus I think you must mentally prepare yourself for any activity or the warm-up stretches won't help much anyway fior example, you can go to punch someone but you still need to judge distance and power or it won't hit (you need preperation for EVERYTHING) fool me once... shame on youfool me twice... iolair
I disagree on counts (1) and (3), and am undecided on count (2) from your original post. If he says the latest studies prove him right, ask him to write down for you the names of the studies - probably some of them are available on the internet and you can check out what he's talking about for yourself. I found the following article very interesting, you may do too: http://www.fightingarts.com/reading/article.php?id=256 Currently: Kickboxing and variants.Previously: Karate (Seido, Shotokan, Seidokan), Ju Jitsu, Judo, Aikido, Fencing.
